I'm not sure what I did to make this happen or how to change it back, but for some reason when I change the size of an object/line it changes the stroke weight as well. (For example, if I drew an ellipse with stroke weight 2 pt, and then increased the size the stroke weight would be 2.856 pt or some such number instead of 2 pt.) How to change this back?
View 3 RepliesTricky one to add a title for but if I am resizing an object precisely using the W Value and H Value fields, for some reason the size I enter then changes. So, for example, I have an object that is 57.15mm wide. I then change that value to 57mm but when I click return it then changes back to the 57.15mm value. This appears for all other values. So if I change it to 60mm it then changes it to 59.972 mm
Not really sure what setting I have that's making it do this. My document is set up in mm.
Is there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile,while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
When I draw a character, i cannot change line weight of fill shapes. When I do so it remains unchanged, however once I export everything is fine and okay.

is there a way to stop ribbon from changing all those icons whenever you clicking on an object? because my computer at work is a bit slow and each click like that on a large civil 3d profile has a slight delay which that time adds up to reduced productivities. and i am clicking 500 times a day since there are 500 vertices to modifiy on say this alignment.
everytime you click on an object the ribbon changes which takes up cpu time due to running a bunch of codes to populate the icons on the ribbon. tried closing ribbon doesn't work still have the delay when mouse click on an object to show the grips. oh well maybe it's showing the grip that's using the cpu. but how can you say for sure without turning one feature off at a time to test?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the attached, I've placed red circles around areas where I would like to start paths that will be thicker when they start (so that they look like they connect in a seamless way from the decorative swashes around the pre-existing, diamond shape in the middle of the page) and then get thinner as they go on. How do I do that so it gets realistic?
Also, how do you vary it genereally? I may want to thicken the paths again when they end.
I know how to use the pen tool decently but at the starting points I can't seem to get things to look like they realistically join what's already there.
I got this error many different times and the problem still continues.
When I change the stroke weight from the Strokes menu arrows or by scroll, this action changes my path's shape and distorts it. You can see the problem below:

I have made a circular crest type image with a uniquely defined stroke (so it looks like a stamp). I want only the outside of the stroke to be bump and the inside be smooth (of the circle). Before I was just layering other white circles over it but now I need the inside to be transparent. Is there a way I can convert my stroke into an object so I can easily erase the bumpy inside? How else can I get around this? Top image is what I have, bottom image is what I want. Only to have a transparent center.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can no longer type in the size of an object. I draw a rectangle and then type in the correct size. Nothing happens. The size of the box does not change.
It's the same with text. If I type a name that needs to fit a certain area, I type in the size for the width and it doesn't change.
I want to change the size of the image in Gimp to 3957x4429 px (67x75 cm) at a 150dpi (the image we have has a 300 dpi.) When i do this in image - print size it keeps changing the width.
The system is not allowing me to get the picture a few cm larger. Is there any way I can overwrite this?
I recently purchased premier pro 6 after working with Inkscape and GIMP for awhile. I am trying to figure out some things that I used to be able to do in Inkscape. In Inkscape, you could change the thickness of a calligraphy stroke based on the speed that the cursor moved. It was called "thinning".

So for the example below, I would like to just enlarge the circles and not the rest. If I select all the circles and drag them to enlarge, they lose their position. Is there a way to do this? View 2 Replies View RelatedI need changing the line weights.I was given an AutoCAD 2009 file that already had the drawing created. In the Model space, the drawing has been created on Layer 0. Some of the other lines have a different layer - but most of it is created on Layer 0.My manager has asked me to simply make some of the lines bold and leave the rest as is.
When I turn on the LWT button at the bottom of my program, the line weight is extremely bold (shows "By Layer" for the line weight). I have gone back to each layer to select a thinner line weight and saved the drawing. However, when I go to print, the line weight defaults back to the “By Layer” line weight.
do I need to be in Layout space to make these changes permanent?
I have then created a new layer (with a new colour) and selected my preferred line weight – and changed the lines that I want to be thicker, to the new layer I created. When I go to print, I went into my printer settings and insured that the new layer I created and colour has the preferred line weight I want. However, when I preview my drawing, it has made all the other layers thicker, and the ones I want thinner.
Should I follow the previous forums and threads using the pline and pline edit?
So I have this multipage document I am working on and I needed more pages so I added the artboards I need however then now go beyond the clip board size (see picture below), how do I change that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Illustrator CS4, I could select a path, click into the stroke weight selector on the Control Bar, and be presented with 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and then 1 - 40. From the keyboard I could use the up/down arrows to move among each of these options. I found this handy because 0.5px and 0.25px are the line weights I most often use.
Ever since I upgraded to Illustrator CS5, the sub- 1px options in this selector have disappeared.
I've edited the default graphic style, to no avail. And yes, I have unchecked everything I know of with regard to "snap to pixel grid". I doubt that would be the problem anyway, because I am able to type "0.25px" and get a 0.25px weighted line. Which is what I have been doing ever since the upgrade. But I am annoyed at having to do it this way and the thousands of microscopic frustrations over the months have gradually accumulated into an ulcer and a disturbing addiction to prescription dandruff shampoos.
Did Adobe remove this from CS5 for the hell of it, or am I missing something obvious?

I am currently on CS6.
How do I rotate an object in Illustrator without chaging the angle of my drop shadow? I have a design that I want to place 2 up on a page and then print. When turn and stack them the shadow has changed its angel in relation to the artwork. I don't see where to lock the drop shadow to the object. Or is it secified a different way?

When enter a stroke weight on a line with a decimal point like .25 or 4.5 is keeps rounding the number up. For example I enter 0.75 and it makes it 1 point or I enter 5.5 and it makes it 6 point. Whether I enter the number manually or pick from the drop down (0.25, 0.5 or 0.75) it keeps rounding my strokes to even numbers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm brand spanking new to Illistrator, andfor my first project decided to re-make my logo for my small minecraft server, since my origional was such poor quality.how to make what I wanted, the problem im having is when I change the size of my grouped image it creates grey lines between the rectangle shapes, There is no gaps, if you zoom in as far as you can they disappear.I exported the image as PNG and they still percist, attatched (Top right finished origional size I made it)
I found out I could "rasterize" my selected content like in video editing "render", I had to do this to "finish" a vector image, any more information on a better workflow.
I have a PDF underlay that is giving me some issues. I locked the layer and moved the pdf underlay's x-position to -1 and sent the drawing to the back to make sure it stays underneath all my lines, but annoyingly, everytime I draw something, it ends up *under* the PDF and I have to zoom out very far and selected the pdf to "send to back" again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a path with multiple strokes, which differ in weight and color. I can save that as a profile but it's really tedious if I want to alter the different colors and stroke weights.
I can't seem to do record an action which will automatically alter those parameters (f.ex. raise each strokeweight by 10pt.). All I get is just an action that will recreate the altered state during recording (f.ex. stroke weights 20, 10 >--Action--> 15, 5). I cannot start the action and raise or lower my stroke weights at once based on the current parameters.
How can I stop changing active document? I was thinking I could use this, but I don't know how to cancel it in the event handler:

Whenever I import photos the exposure and other settings are changed. I have resete every default setting I can find for any kind of preset.I tried to uninstall by dragging to the trash can (Mac OS) and reinstalled to try and clear the issue. Not sure this was the correct process as it didn't seem to wipe everything out. Don't know what setting got changed along the way. Just trying to get everything back to default so that my photos aren't arent manipulated before I can even get them to the develop module.

How to stop this.. I'm guessing settings of course but which ones exactly if you've done this and what are the down sides to turning this off?

The stroke setting to which I refer is when I double click a layer and want to surround it with a stroke line of color. I have searched everywhere and can't find where to change the default setting.
I've been having this problem changing the Paint Tool in the Stroke Path Dialog .
I'm using GIMP v2.6.11
First I stroke a path using the Paintbrush as the paint tool. Then I change the Paintbrush to Airbrush and try to stroke the same path and it seems like it's still using the Paintbrush (or even worse, it does nothing at all). Sometimes I reopen the stroke path dialog and it seems to have reverted back to the last paint tool I used (Paintbrush) and my Airbrush selection seems to have been completely ignored.
Currently if I want to stroke with different paint tools I have to do the following. Stroke with Paintbrush, stoke with Pencil and then undo (for some reason changing from the pencil tool doesn't have the problem), then stroke with Airbrush. I always have to do this intermediary step of stroking and undoing with a pencil to get the new paint tool to register.
I am using PSE10 and I have just upgraded from lion to mountain lion 10.8.2. Previously when I clicked "write keyword tag and properties info to photo" it seemed to just do that. Since the upgrade to mountain lion when I click 'write keyword tag and properties info to photo" it also changes the date the photo was created to the date the info was written to the photo .
How I can get it to write the keyword info *without* changing the date the photo was created?
