Illustrator :: Maintaining Stroke Weight When Changing Path To Brush Stroke?
Sep 12, 2013Is there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile,while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.

Mar 20, 2013I'm not sure what I did to make this happen or how to change it back, but for some reason when I change the size of an object/line it changes the stroke weight as well. (For example, if I drew an ellipse with stroke weight 2 pt, and then increased the size the stroke weight would be 2.856 pt or some such number instead of 2 pt.) How to change this back?

Mar 21, 2013In the attached, I've placed red circles around areas where I would like to start paths that will be thicker when they start (so that they look like they connect in a seamless way from the decorative swashes around the pre-existing, diamond shape in the middle of the page) and then get thinner as they go on. How do I do that so it gets realistic?
Also, how do you vary it genereally? I may want to thicken the paths again when they end.
I know how to use the pen tool decently but at the starting points I can't seem to get things to look like they realistically join what's already there.
Illustrator :: Path Shape Is Changing When Stroke Weight Changes
Sep 3, 2012I got this error many different times and the problem still continues.
When I change the stroke weight from the Strokes menu arrows or by scroll, this action changes my path's shape and distorts it. You can see the problem below:
I got similar errors when scaling a couple of times. But this one looks just impossible to me.
Illustrator :: Erase Section Of Stroke Without Changing The Rest Of It?
Jul 29, 2013I have made a circular crest type image with a uniquely defined stroke (so it looks like a stamp). I want only the outside of the stroke to be bump and the inside be smooth (of the circle). Before I was just layering other white circles over it but now I need the inside to be transparent. Is there a way I can convert my stroke into an object so I can easily erase the bumpy inside? How else can I get around this? Top image is what I have, bottom image is what I want. Only to have a transparent center.

Mar 13, 2013So I'm able to use the dashed stroke normally if I create my own lines or shapes, but I'm using an image that I have image traced, expanded, and ungrouped, and I'm able to change the weight of the stroke and the brush but not apply a dashed stroke or a different brush profile, but I'm more concerned with the stroke. I haven't forgotten the gap.. What's up? Does it just not work on image traced stuff?

Mar 12, 2014I have been a Photoshop hobbyist. Now I own a printing business. This has forced me into the world of Illustrator for our printing and cutting machines. Although I am very comfortable with PS, Illustrator. One of the key things is making "Cut lines" in Illustrator to send to the cutting program. Now here is my dillema, all of my images I have made are in Photoshop. To make these cut lines I have to stroke the image. When I bring a picture into Illustrator I can not get it to stroke that picture. It just strokes the box around it, or unless I draw a circle or shape around it and stroke that shape. Please refer to the picture I have attached. The first one is a decal that we initially made. The second is the image that I want to stroke for cut lines do I can just have that as a decal without the white circle.

Jan 4, 2013I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.

Sep 21, 2013When I go to File and then Place, I pick an image, choose to have it as a bounding box and then click OK. Quite correctly the chosen image displays as a placed image, linking to an external Illustrator file.
HOWEVER, when I close the file and reopen it, it magically changes to a Group layer, meaning there is no link anymore.

Feb 12, 2013I placed a .psd image in Illustrator CS5 at 100% at 600ppi. My link information is telling me that it is at 600ppi. But when I do a 90degree rotation, my link information is now telling me that I have a picture resolution of 859ppi x 420ppi. Why is that? From what I know and learned, a resolution doesn't change except when we change the scaling of an image but not rotating it.
This made me wonder because when we receive files from customer with embed images, how can I know that this image wasn't rotated and that the link informations panel is giving me the right numbers?

Apr 9, 2013I'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
GIMP :: Changing Paint Tool For Stroke Path
Mar 23, 2011I've been having this problem changing the Paint Tool in the Stroke Path Dialog .
I'm using GIMP v2.6.11
First I stroke a path using the Paintbrush as the paint tool. Then I change the Paintbrush to Airbrush and try to stroke the same path and it seems like it's still using the Paintbrush (or even worse, it does nothing at all). Sometimes I reopen the stroke path dialog and it seems to have reverted back to the last paint tool I used (Paintbrush) and my Airbrush selection seems to have been completely ignored.
Currently if I want to stroke with different paint tools I have to do the following. Stroke with Paintbrush, stoke with Pencil and then undo (for some reason changing from the pencil tool doesn't have the problem), then stroke with Airbrush. I always have to do this intermediary step of stroking and undoing with a pencil to get the new paint tool to register.

Jan 29, 2014I'm having a huge problem with the brush stroke, I use illustrator CS5,(on PC) but I can't set the stroke weight smaller or bigger than 1 pt.
1. I've already resetted AI preferences. still nothing.
2. I've already created new documents of all types ''web'', ''print'', ''basic rgb'', etc. and turned on and off the ''align new objects to pixel grid''. ( still nothing).
3. I've resetted my preferences file, under Unit/Stoke ( set to pixels instead of points). still nothing
4. I've already went to the Regional and Language Options and changed the decimal symbol but nothing.

Feb 17, 2009I have the trial version for my laptop (windows), and we use a Mac at school. Anyway, I have an assignment to do and it involves creating a 1 pt. black stroke around an image. I found where it says "stroke" but it is either grayed out at top under 'edit', or down on the right 'add a layer style' I hit stroke and nothing changed on my photo. I have looked at the Help menu and tried what they said and still the image won't change. Please help! This assignment is due tonight (I wasn't able to get Photoshop to unzip and open on my computer all weekend which is why it took this long).

Though a dragged path (by an endpoint) snaps to a point on another path, when I lift my finger, the dragged point and path jump a small distance away.
Aligning two separate paths to their common (e.g. top left) endpoints also leaves the two endpoints slightly displaced from each other.
