Jan 9, 2013I'm trying to apply a stroke to a .jpg image in Illustrator 6, and even though the weight and color show in the windows, the object itself has no visible stroke.

View 3 RepliesI just applied the Adobe Illustrator patch for CS6 this morning bringing it up to version 16.0.2. Ever since then, when I apply a stroke to an object,it deforms it. When I update the stroke weight, it deforms it.
This is making the program completely unusable.
A path automatically goes basic(1) weight when any brush is applied to it. Is there any way to avoid this?

Adobe Illustrator got an error: Can’t set properties of text frame 1 of layer 1 of document 1 to {stroke miter limit:2}. (error -10006) but im am able to apply a stroke miter limit of 2 on a path item, is there a way of converting the text frame to a path item then applying the stroke miter limit to it.
on TicketFront_(posX, posY)
tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
activate
set ticketItem to make new text frame in theDoc with properties {contents:{"Some Text"}, position:{(35.7 + posX) * 2.834645, (173.5 - posY) * 2.834645}}
set properties of the text of ticketItem to {text font:text font "Raleway-Thin", size:5.54, justification:center, fill color:{class:spot color info, tint:100.0, spot:spot "PANTONE 4535 U" of document 1}, stroke color:{class:spot color info, tint:100.0, spot:spot "PANTONE 4535 U" of document 1}, horizontal scale:126.46, stroke weight:0.4}
[code]...
ive also tryed putting convert to paths ticketItem in the script which converts the text to paths but the stroke miter limit still dont work.
I am clicking on a line and altering it's stroke weight to numbers as big as 70pt, but the there is no visible change to the line! If I click off the line and back on it, it still says that it is 70pt, but this is not apparent! Have i clicked on something that prevents me from altering the line weights?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I'm able to use the dashed stroke normally if I create my own lines or shapes, but I'm using an image that I have image traced, expanded, and ungrouped, and I'm able to change the weight of the stroke and the brush but not apply a dashed stroke or a different brush profile, but I'm more concerned with the stroke. I haven't forgotten the gap.. What's up? Does it just not work on image traced stuff?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to come unstuck when I apply colour using the 'Stroke Path' option. Basically I need to know if there's a way of determining the opacity of the stroke line? In some cases I don't need to have such a 'dense' colour. I want to see a little of what I've 'painted over' so as to keep some of the detail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn all my research of the new CC features in Illustrator I came across a video that was explaining you can now add a stroke on a placed image. My memory thinks it was a Deke McClellan video but i'm getting too old to rely on my memory being correct and I can't seem to find the video again.
I tried adding a stroke but nothing happeneds.. I still have to mask first then add a stroke.
I got this pattern I created : And I would like to add a white stroke involving it like this :

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been a Photoshop hobbyist. Now I own a printing business. This has forced me into the world of Illustrator for our printing and cutting machines. Although I am very comfortable with PS, Illustrator. One of the key things is making "Cut lines" in Illustrator to send to the cutting program. Now here is my dillema, all of my images I have made are in Photoshop. To make these cut lines I have to stroke the image. When I bring a picture into Illustrator I can not get it to stroke that picture. It just strokes the box around it, or unless I draw a circle or shape around it and stroke that shape. Please refer to the picture I have attached. The first one is a decal that we initially made. The second is the image that I want to stroke for cut lines do I can just have that as a decal without the white circle.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI apply a stroke to one or more images which share a common background. I click on the thumbnail image in a given layer, add a new layer in which I stroke the image. This all works as expected, after I apply the stroke I only see the border but not on all four sides? The layers have all been previously aligned and distributed. If I move the image slightly the border becomes visible on all sides, but the images are no longer aligned.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I make a rectangle, add a stroke border around it, is there a way to make the area of the rectangle clear/transparent but keep the stroke boarder 100% visible?
This can be easily done in InDesign by just picking (none) as a color but I dont see an obvious way to do it in photoshop.
Is there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile, while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.

I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
How do you make an image (JPEG) visible again after you turned it off with the contextural Image Ribbon Menu?
Once the image is gone I cannot find how to get the contedxtural Image Menu back.

I have been using feather on image photo to create the all corner faded edges however after I upgraded to ver CS6, I encounter this problem when I applying the same method using feather (radius: 15-20) on the image photo and did an inverse, a warning message popped out
"Warning: no pixels are more than 50% selected the selection edges will not be visible". Hence, cannot apply any feather on the image, My image is a full solid color layer.
Image not updating after applying filter in CS6. Preview is generated but filter won't apply. Very sporadic so I'm assuming it might be a memory problem. Using on Win7, AMD Phenom II, with 8 GB of memory.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am applying Artistic filters to an image in Photoshop. Some of the filters are turning the image into a black and white image, for example, the "torn edges filter." And it then does not seem possible to change that layer into a colored layer. Other filters, such as "glass" leave the image its original color. Is it possible to use the torn edges filter without turning the image black and white?

View 7 Replies View RelatedIf I draw a shape and select the fill color from one of my swatches, this applies the color OK. Then if I want to change the fill color to a tint of the swatch, what I used to do in Illustrator 5.5 was go to the 'Color Guide' tab and choose a tint. This tint was then applied to the shape. If I do the same in Illustrator CC, I can select the tint, but it does not get applied to the shape, the shape remains with its original fill color. I use tints of our company colors a lot, so I need this to work!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI open a .dng file which was in greyscale. Then converted it to RGB. Applied the effect Graphic Pen. Added a new layer, fill it with red, changed mode to Overylay, and when I tried merging down, or saving as a jpeg, it converts the image right back to B&W. I even tried changing my brush to red and Overlay mode, it just won't let me color the image at all. I've tried hue/saturation, and when I try to save the adjustment, it converts right back to B&W. Here are some screen shots.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can crop and feather a selection of an image, but what i wanted to do was apply a feathered edge to an entire image so that i could drop it into a word doc and it would look a bit smarter.
I've been trying to do it by -
'Select > All ' then ' Select > feather ' applying the amount of feather (i did an inch just to make sure).
But it made no difference - i tried exporting this as a JPEG to see if it came up then but it still didn't make a difference...
I need to apply individual unique keywords to a large (1000+) set of images. Is there a faster way to advance to the next image after applying a keyword than using the mouse to select the next image from the library browser? A feature similar to the Shift>[rating number] trick to advance to the next image while assigning ratings?
My lack of knowing this trick is killing my productivity by at least a factor of two.
I was desiging images for my children and I was having difficulty with the colors- I would select a color from the color picker and a different shade/color would be applied to the text. Hoping it was a RAM issue, I just restarted my computer and it resolved itself. Easy enough. I completed the designs and went about my day.
Today, I'm working on a project for someone else and it's doing it again. I've restarted the computer and I've reset settings on Illustrator to the default but neither of these things resolved the problem.
In an attempt to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I took a screen shot of the text I'm attempting to color and the color picker box showing the color I was trying to choose. The selected color was R 6 G 6 B 249. I opened the image in paint and with the eyedropper tool selected the color that was actually applied and that color is R 61 G 93 B 171- so clearly not the same color at all. I then opened it in Photoshop to determine if it was an Adobe problem or just an Illustrator problem. With the eyedropper tool, I got the same results that I did in paint. Illustrator is definitely not applying the colors correctly.
For some reason every time I add an effect or copy and paste something with an effect, Illustrator crashes. Running CS6 Creative Cloud.

My problem is that everytime I try to preview or apply a drop shadow effect (Effects > Stylize > Drop Shadow...) it freezes.
I have done a lot of things to try and resolve this issue including quiting and restarting Illustrator. Restarting the computer. Reinstalling illustrator, which ended up being a temporary fix. I have a screen shot of the program of when I clicked on the Preview box (just insert the colorful spining wheel of death).
