I am trying to do the same thing, but every time I select the fill color and start using the brush it goes back to "none" as the fill option. Is this a CS6 exclusive feature?

The graphic I wish to create the brush for is highlighted on my screen, and I clicked on the New Brush icon in the Brush Menu. After changing the angle, roundness and size, the only options are "fixed and random". All other options are greyed out. How do I access the "tilt" feature for example?

Dec 30, 2012When creating strokes with the calligraphic brush (using an Intuos5), I noticed that the eraser tool breaks the stroke thickness when apllied to the calligraphic stroke. The entire stroke defaults to an undesired,uniform thickness.

Illustrator :: Brush Keep Resetting To Calligraphic When Trying To Use Variable Width Profile?
Oct 7, 2012I'm working on a reflective drawing and using gradients on strokes. I've been using pressure sensitive calligraphic brushes I made. Now I'm trying to use variable width preset profile brushes. It works fine for the first stroke, but every time I make a new stroke, it reverts back to a calligraphic pressure brush. How can I keep my brushes the same profile until I manually select it to be different? I've gone back and forth between the brush tool and pencil tool and neither will keep any basic variable width profile past the first stroke. I have to select every brush stroke and change it again and again after drawing it.

Nov 30, 2005I'm working on a lj mood theme and I learned how to create round corners - basically I create a new tranparent image, go to modify - > smooth (5px) and then paste the original image. It works fine!, until I try to add a border using the stroke tool - the corners don't get the border, as you can seehere. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, if it's a setting or what. I've tried several blending modes, all locations (inside, center, outside), preserve transparency, nothing works. Of course, I'm completely challenged when it comes to photoshop, so I could really use your help on this one.

Jan 14, 2013Reducing the Roundness of a calligraphic brush to 0% seems to create 'flat' ends to a stroke, but, on closer inspection, the ends are not perfectly flat/straight.
The line seems to start and end with a slight 'S' curve; it's less visible when the stroke has a different bearing, but I need it to be gone - is this possible? I'm trying to create a calligraphic brush with perfectly flat ends.

Jan 4, 2013I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.

Apr 9, 2013I'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
Lightroom :: Bloated DNG Files
Sep 3, 2012I run both a Mac (OS 10.7) and a Windows 7pro PC. The Mac .dng files are more than twice the size of the PC ones, apparently because they have somehow been put into "Lightzonw Transformn Format". Lightzone is a program that I used a few times but have not opened in years.
How can I make Lightroom stop doing this? Will I have to re-import all 50k or so RAW files to correct this?
Photoshop :: Bloated PSD File Sizes?
Jul 5, 2013Our 18MB 14-bit Canon camera produces RAW images (converted to uncompressed DNG) that are about 22MB. On a Win7-64bit CS6 workstation, the PSD file that is created from the DNGs has the following sizes (single layer, no masks/paths, maximum compatibility):
16 bit, DNG as smart object: 207MB (10x of the DNG)16 bit, DNG as rasterized layer: 187MB (8.5x of the DNG)8-bit (less information than the DNG), DNG as smart object: 115MB (5.2x of DNG)8-bit (less information than the DNG), DNG as rasterized layer: 95MB (4.3x of DNG)
a blank 8-bit image with a white background layer saves as 818KB, adding a few scribbles with the brush tool saves the file at about 30MB.
Photoshop :: Bloated Jpeg Saving
Dec 4, 2003i went from photoshop 6 to CS so i don't know if it's a CS problem. i've noticed that unless i use the "save for web" option, the regular save produces jpegs that are much larger than photoshop 6, using the same settings.
also is there a way to turn off color management completely? i can set the preference to not manage colors but it defaults to my monitor color profile and i don't want it period.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Bloated File Size
Jul 7, 2013This problem transfer from one file to another by copying some of it's content to another file. Any command were done just to try to reduce a file but still isn't working.
The problem became serious when each file became at-least 200mb per 2D dwg. Our Tech support said it was a kind of Number virus where it alters the log in each file to have a bigger file size.
Though this happens only in CAD, and certain files/projects were affected. The old and previous file unused where still intact. Only those new ones that we are currently accessing.
3ds Max :: Bloated Scene And Long Saving Times?
Apr 19, 2012I'm working on an interior visualization scene and it's taking longer than it should to save. I tried to solve this in many different ways, but I've had no luck so far.Here's the funny thing though, I created a new clean scene and merged only the Vray Physical Camera and a dome light from the complete file. Now when I save this new file with those 2 elements only, I get a scene that's over 100 Mb!
Apart from merging into a new scene I've tried the script to get rid of the note tracks, but that makes 3ds max crash. I also checked all texture paths are correct (which wasn't even necesary for the camera/light scene, but anyway...).
Paint.NET :: Put Round Text Into Blank Round Space?
Apr 10, 2011I have gotten to a point where I have the round text,, I have a seal with a blank space.. I would like to put the round text into the blank space,, but when I try, and no matter how I try,, the text is a white square with round text on it when I try to place it in the circle.
The other thought that came to me,, what if ..(the text circle size was a guess) the text does not fit.. how do I expand or collape it? I know I have in the pass while playing with round text.. gone back to that effect and changed angles, start points etc.. is that the only way?
I have attached what I have so far. ( I tried to attach the Paint.net file but I guess you can't, so these are the two I am working on,, as layers in Paint.net)

Feb 15, 2012I'm working with a production house to generate transparent PNG files of pieces of content. These output images must meet a fixed height and width (in pixels). We're providing a MS Word file with a template that has both text and a MathType equation. The vendor uses this as a starting point, and will export the same equation as a transparent PNG file.
The vendor is using CorelDraw to: transfer text and MathType equations out of a Microsoft Word document into a template in a CDR file select and export the resulting component(s) as a transparent PNG file
FONT MISMATCH: We have a reference PNG file that we've generated as pixel map directly from an XML version of a piece of sample content. We've found that the vendor's sample PNG file is much larger in filesize than the reference PNG file, though it has the same dimensions.
I'm wondering if it is related to a settings issue in CorelDraw due to a weird font size mismatch. Viewing our reference PNG on-screen on my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion), the font matches 26pt in my text editor at 100% view, which is the same font size we use in our source Word document. The vendor (using a PC overseas) has to shrink the font size after transfer into CorelDraw to 6.2pt font, which visually matches our reference on my screen.
TECHNICAL DETAILS: I've used the "identify -verbose" command in ImageMagick to isolate a few other key differences between our source PNG file and the vendor's sample PNG file. In addition a significantly larger number of rows of Histogram information (source=65 rows; vendor=256 rows), there are a handful of other discrepancies (in bold):

Feb 27, 2013A friend asked me to create a logo similar to The North Face by using a song name. The upper right corner needs to be rounded allowing the color fill between the two silver parts. It looks somewhat ok, but as you can see it is not very proportional. I tried the aics_scripts file that I found from searching, but i can't get it right, most likely because the curve in the logo is not perfect. Oct 8, 2012I work in a large printing company and we get artwork from all over that has dodgy CMYK colours (quick convertions from RGB obviously). We have noticed that these colours don't rip as well as rounded CMYK colours, so we spend a lot of time cleaning them up and rounding them down...
I'd like to be able to just run a script that does this to a whole document, including the colours inside gradients. So if for example the number is .5 or below we round down, or above we round up.

Illustrator :: Create Shape With Round And Square Corners?
Feb 4, 2013I haven't used illustrator for a while so I'm really stuck on soemthing that should be simple.
I want to create a shape that has round corners on the bottom and square cormers at the top.
I have created two shapes, one with round corners and one with square one.
I was hoping to put them together then use the pathfinder to unite them but this then make the round corner square.
Is it possible to unite shapes with different corners.
