Basically, there you can see a selection of default brushes, and how some of them appear like just small circles, rather than a smooth, hard round default brush like they should. The second one is the one highlighted in the window.
When I use other brushes with my Wacom Bamboo they too look just a bit less effective than they used to. I don't want to reinstall

I was trying to make a worm gear with a expanding distance every round.
So I drew it in paint (see the atachments). A picture says more than a thousand words right?
The function of this is to give more space between the bottles that come off a assambly line.

Using: Xara Photo & Graphic Design 6
AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor 3.10 GHz
2.00GB (1.75 GB usable) RAM
64-bit OS
I follow the tutorial in the Xara Help, but cannot get the results shown. I draw the circle, compose the text, and set it to the middle Select both circle and text Arrange/Fit Text to Curve....the text appears around the lower, right side of the cirle After all this I am unable to manipulate the text (It's a piece of cake to do this in Publisher 2010, but it has some minor problems in appearance)

Senility has set in, and I can no longer remember how to stick ovals around a circle. Need to do this for a client's site, for a gallery (patterns in the little ovals will show large in the middle), but think this is more a graphics question at the moment than a web question. This mock up was done in Illustrator by the client. I know Xara can do this easily, if I could only remember how. Have a feeling i have seen a tut illustrating this, but haven't been able to unearth it. Thinking it might be a blend, but not sure. Can't persuade things to go round the circle, nor work out how to keep them equidistant. I am such a newb.

I can't control the location of a 3rd circle using ttr. I'm drawing two circles and then a 3rd tangent to both but I want the 3rd circle to be centered down below the two original ones and all it will do is be above them. See drawing.

1) One circle is inside the other circle, need to measure distance from the outside edge of one circle to the to the outside edge of the larger circle?
2) One circle inside the other circle, need to measure from the center of the larger circle to the nearest outside edge of the smaller circle?
3) Circles are near each other and need to measure from the outside edge of one circle to the outside edge of the other circle?

I'm having problems with a document which has 26 artboards, the document was created by another designer and for some reason everytime I try and rearrange the artboards in this document, it crashes illustrator. The document is not large enough to warrent my machine crashing when I try and do this, and I have plenty of ram. Also the artboards are stacked very irrgeularly they do not work in sequence either horizontaly or vertically down the document canvas area in rows of columns, how is it possible to arrange the art boards in an irregular way like this, I would like to know for future reference? Maybe if I can find this out I can manually rearrange the boards. I should mention when I do try and rearrange the boards, sometimes it doens't crash illustraor straight away and it gives me the message that the artboards will fall completely outside of the document area. This happens no matter what direction I try ( grid by row, grid by coloumn, arrange by row, arrange by column) and also when I try and reduce the amount of space between the boards it doesn't work either.
I cannot upload images as the document is for a client.

I'm trying to make a logo. Circular logo with an inner ring maybe 4 px wide and 15 px inside the rim of the outer circle.
Basically I want a blue circle with a yellow inside ring. What's the best way of doing this? The only thing i can think of is: creating a blue circle marquee, and then another (trying to estimate a new circle size and change the color) that is yellow, and then making another smaller blue circle inside the new one. That's just ugly.
I tried the edit/stroke but that just gave me a stroke around the outer circle; it didn't put a ring inside the circle 15 px down.
Also I tried to contract the original circle by selecting it, then Modify/contract. That's got me a selected ring, inside the circle. Now how in the world do I make that little ring yellow? It just remains selected and I can't seem to find a way to color it.

I have gotten to a point where I have the round text,, I have a seal with a blank space.. I would like to put the round text into the blank space,, but when I try, and no matter how I try,, the text is a white square with round text on it when I try to place it in the circle.
The other thought that came to me,, what if ..(the text circle size was a guess) the text does not fit.. how do I expand or collape it? I know I have in the pass while playing with round text.. gone back to that effect and changed angles, start points etc.. is that the only way?
I have attached what I have so far. ( I tried to attach the Paint.net file but I guess you can't, so these are the two I am working on,, as layers in Paint.net)

I did this in photoshop, and it was a raster image, but i want to do it in illustrator because i need to enlarge it many times without having to make it lose quality and I just want it as a vector, and would rather have it done in illustrator because I am already doing the rest of the picture in illustrator. If you guys would please let me know how to do this picture in illustrator? I tried making every circle and fixing the opacity, but it took forever and didnt even look right! In photoshop, I picked a solid circle brush, and in the brush drop down bar thing i went to "Other Dynamics" and put "Opacity Liter" and "Flow Liter" to 100%. I just would like to know if theres a way to do it in Illustrator.

I have a problem with drawing small circles in Illustrator, because when I export them they are not "smooth". The edges seem like truncated. Have a look here with "Pixel preview" turned on:
And now, setting an offset of +0.5px for X and Y, the circle is how I want it to be:
Why? Is there a way to "smooth" the circle?

Here is the image I am working on:
I need to know how to make it look like this:
There are two things going on in the origina: the S-shaped semi-transparent overlay, and a linear gradient that lightens on the top and bottom and darkens in the middle. Also, note the transparent space between the "outline shape" and the inner circles.
So - two things. 1) How do I apply a gradient to the entire shape, and 2) put the all-white overlay on top (overlay should be confined to the shape as well).

how to draw a circle with its center at the starting cursor location of the drag motion? It's given that the ellipse shape tool is chosen.Neither simultaneously depressing the shift or control key concurrent with the drag motion accomplishes this objective. any simple way to draw concentric circles each of which has a randomly chosen diameter and varying stroke width? The polar grid tool isn't relevant to this objective.

I draw a circle and then want another smaller circle to snap to the path. This would produce 100% accurate smooth curve.
I added a line that snapped to an anchor point I added on the large circle. I was hoping to snap the smaller circle to the anchor point, but how can you do this without guessing where to add anchor points on the circle? What if I want to change them?
Right now I have snap to point on and snap to grid off. Align to pixel grid is also off.
method for drawing and conecting tangents?

Working with scientific figures containing circles, squares, etc in CS4. How can I resize many circles to be 1.5 by 1.5 mm, for example, after they have been skewed a bit to make the entire graph the same size as adjacent figures? In other words, I import the graph from elsewhere and to touch it up I have to resize it a bit. Resizing the whole figure distorts the circle to an ellipse and I want to turn it back into a circle. Takes too long to select each shape and indicate the size.
