We have been trying to plot some 3D objects in our drawing with a hidden line. We need the drawing to not show the hidden 3D lines but to show the edge lines of the object to plot as a hidden line.

I'm drawing objects (walls, platforms, etc.) in 3d made up primarily of extruded polygons. I want to be able to plot these objects in a way that hides all of the lines which are obscured by other objects. Currently I have my viewports set up with a 2D Wireframe visual style and a Hidden shade plot. This isn't working for me. I'm still getting all of the lines in the drawing visible no matter what.
Here's the strange thing: It seems to work perfectly fine in plan view, but not in front view. Also, it's worked fine in the past. It seems that the problem has gotten progressively worse over the past year or so.
I'm using AutoCAD 2008.
I'm running Architecture 2013. When creating an elevation object from a 3D model, the hidden lines are not being removed. I've never seen this before, though I have been using Architecture and ADT for years. I've recently upgreaded from 2009 to 2013, and VOILA!
Hidden lines not removed from elevation and section objects. I've tried various tests, to no avail.....
I used these commands years ago and cant remember what they are. I am designing furniture in 3D and want to view the object at SE Isometric, then rotate an additional 18 degrees, then take a screenshot that will basically give me a block that is a line drawing of the object with lines hidden. This is a question with two parts:
#1: How do I rotate from SE Isometric 18 degrees to get the view angle I want?
#2: How do I take a screenshot of the object that will produce a block with hidden lines?
There are two seperate commands for each of these, I just can't remember what they are.
Attached is a picture of the final product I'm looking for.

In 2008, never had this issue.Just dumb, circles, and lines in a view port, that have hidden or center linetyoes assigned to them. When we go to plot using legacy hidden (this new for 2012?) the plot comes out with continuous lines. These are not solids. Just ordinary line entities.Now, when I change the shadeplot to "hidden" the linetype is shown correctly, but now my entities are coloured, when I just want my drawing to be black and white (going to PDF), even though all of the colours in the pen style are set to "Black".
Has this changed? Is there a new variable introduced?
I'm opening a drawing created in AutoCAD 2008, which is plotting hidden arcs as solid lines. Straight hidden lines are dashed as normal. I've attached both the paperspace view and the plot preview to show what I mean. The outer radius is showing as dashed in paperspace view, but appears as a solid line when plotted. The straight line leading to it is dashed in both views.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a record plat drawing with multiple parcels and parcel styles. For my lands of the grantors I view port froze the lots and right of way layers from my parcel styles. I don’t want to show them in this viewport. To my surprise the lines show up in the object layer we have set for parcels. This was not the case in 2011. We are in 2014 with the first hotfix update. I understand putting the parcel styles in the object layer, but why another mysterious line under it? I did create parcels from objects, but had them erased when I created them. This did not matter either way. Is there a way to get rid of them? I did put them in a new layer, set it to “No Plot” This kept them from plotting, but I really don’t want to have to take the time to do it.

I'm laying out a drawing. I use a visual style with facet edges and occluded edges dashed and intersection edges dashed. To give my lines hidden fo fabricators to know witch way to face angle iron and so on. But here is the big problem i do a veiw port with 4 shots 1 isometric solid 1 top hidden lines front hidden lines and right hidden lines. so first time i plot it, it will work fine then i go back to plot then the lines ither become not shown at all or they will be solid. even know the veiwport still shows them as hidden lines. If I delete the veiwport and make a new veiport all over again it will work for a single print then will not show it all over again.

One being to highlight an object and then delete using the Delete key. Second example being lost is to left click a drawn line and then to hit delete. Is this a setup problem?

It leaves a continuous line at the beginning and end of the line. Is there a way to get rid of that?
I must be missing something fundamental when trying to change a line from a solid line to a hidden or dashed line in Autocad 2000. I use the ltype command then load either Hidden, or dashed ISO,or both, and invariably the scale is way off in that I always end up with a still solid line, after using modify properties. After all that, every line I draw after that comes out dashed. Maybe I should fool with the layers? Is there a basic procedure I should follow here?

Also I know you can use the the linear tool under Annotations to display dimensions of 2D lines. But I don't know how to do it so that it that shows the dimension on a vertical axis as shown in the picture below.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to draw without the command line visible and am liking it. Have been using F2 if I need it while in a command but am finding the text window a bit obtrusive. It also gets hidden when you click in the drawing area.
Is there a way to activate the command line transparently? If you are in a command, Ctrl+9 cancels it.
I have drawn a black horizontal line 100mm long. Under that line a have a 100mm line coloured blue. How do I select the blue line? In AutoCAD 2000 I would hold down ctrl and select the line. Then scroll using the mouse pressing right click to select. I am currently using AutoCad2011. This function does not work.
