View 6 RepliesWe are upgrading from LDD2008 to Civil3D 2013. I'm working on a Civil3D template
I'm setting up line and curve label style. Oringally we were going to have one set of line label style. Ex. Bearing Above or Bearing Below. After seeing that the line labels does not look at the current text style we decided to make copies of the original label styles based on Text Styles. So now I have Bearing Above60, Bearing Above100, etc. I named them based on the Leroy styles and sizes.
After editing each one and changing the Text Style each one looks at, it is not using the Texting Style i assign it. I'm doing this in the General Tab and Text Style for each label style.
i guess I should have tested before creating all them to find out it didn't work.Does it need to be done somewhere else or is do I have to do something with the overall label style overrides?
We have, as our standard library default dimension style, a 1/32 fractional style, called "1/32-FRACTION". Various Object Types, like Linear Dimension are set to this Object Style. When I create a drawing, then these Object Defaults are in effect.
This means that, doing nothing while executing a dimension command, I get fractional dimensions by default. This works good.
However, sometimes I want to create a drawing where the default dimension style is "X.XXX-DECIMAL" without changing the Object Defaults found in the style library. I've tried to make the changes from within the style library and then save this as a template. However, when I try to make a drawing based on this template, Inventor states that the styles in the template differ from the styles in the library" and then busily goes about undoing what I careful did.
So I'm hoping there is something in the API I can call on to do this with a macro. Is it possible to write a macro that after you start a drawing, flips all the various Object Styles from "1/32-FRACTION" to "X.XXX-DECIMAL"?
Where is the setting to tell the section line to begin? This line is cutting through our callout annotation circle, which happens to be sized larger than Revit’s default.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a record plat drawing with multiple parcels and parcel styles. For my lands of the grantors I view port froze the lots and right of way layers from my parcel styles. I don’t want to show them in this viewport. To my surprise the lines show up in the object layer we have set for parcels. This was not the case in 2011. We are in 2014 with the first hotfix update. I understand putting the parcel styles in the object layer, but why another mysterious line under it? I did create parcels from objects, but had them erased when I created them. This did not matter either way. Is there a way to get rid of them? I did put them in a new layer, set it to “No Plot” This kept them from plotting, but I really don’t want to have to take the time to do it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recorded an action to create a transparent image on a batch of photos. Next I ran the image processor using the File/Scripts/image processor. When running the action the error message occurs no matter how many ways I attempt to modify the action. Error: The object "Style "Shape Style"" is not currently available.
I then look in the action window to check and under the steps Make Fill Layer: Style: Shape, Style 1 appears but I can't delete it. This one error message makes it impossible for me to image process a batch of photos with a watermark on them.
I tried to Drafting Pattern aligned with my two But it is very difficult .
Is there a quick and accurate way to solve this problem

I want to create sections and plans showing interior finishes. As walls are all of the same structure I used the split face tool. When applying 'paint' to the face it only gives me the options of materials not fill patterns i.e. hatches. How do I get it to apply hatches or is there a visibility setting that i need to change.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan we align wall cut fill patterns? For instance; some of the wall material fill patterns that we use can cause confusion when other similar patterns are near by. Is there a way to control the begining or to use the align tool? It seems like Revit will only allow Drafting fill paterns to be used in defining materials "Cut Patterns". Is there a way to make them Model Patterns? Can we control the line weights of those fills?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a new Revit user and can't seem to get the hang of fill patterns. If I go to Manage>Additional Settings>Fill Patterns Ise a list of a couple of dozen or so fill patterns with the Drafting Button selected.
But when I try to modify the fill region in a family I'm only given a choice of about six of the patterns.how to "load" the other pattern types.
I'm using PS CS4 and I've been using actions for years now. However, about a year or two ago they started acting oddly. All my custom actions follow a similar flow: open file, size file, make transparent, add layer style, export to PNG, and, finally, close the file.
Once upon a time, the last time I recall it working flawlessly was in CS 2, I had to do nothing other than start the action on a directory of files. Now I have to click OK when the Layer Styles window pops up. Here is the exported action file. After clicking on a directory that may contain up to a 1,000 files; it gets tiresome and finger sore.
Is it possible to set a viewport's visual style without opening the drawing in the editor? I would like to set a visual style on all viewports for a batch of drawings.
As a followup, could the viewport then be part of a publish event and have the new visual style hold without opening and reneging the drawing?
how to apply a layer style/setting? I have a saved layer setting and whatnot but i cant seem to put it on another layer on another document.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a very strange issue that appears in the Materials editor within Revit 2013 Update Release 3. If I change a surface or cut hatch pattern within the editor, and then attempt to close out of the editor, go to a different material, or apply the change, the hatch dialog pops right back up again, as if I never closed it. I have found two ways to get out of this obnoxious loop:
1. Use the 'esc' key to back out of the materials dialog (unfortunately no changes are saved).
2. Change the color of the hatch - this allows for the changes to be applied etc.
I've tried resetting the UI and reinstalling Revit to no avail.
Patterns in my color scheme now extend into the middle of all walls. Is there a switch to stop the patterns at wall faces?

View 8 Replies View RelatedIn the Band Style_A pdf you can see the location of my elevation labels, they are below the bottom line of my profile view grid. In the Band Style_B pdf the labels are showing up in the proper location (above the bottom line of the profile view grid). To move the labels to the proper location I changed the "Gap" setting from 12.5 to -24. Is there a way to change this setting in my "style" rather than have to go make this change to the style every time I use it in a profile?

Is there a surface setting / style option where contour labels (elevations) will display at some specified interval as part of the surface rather than going through and adding them as labels afterwards? Seems like a rudimentary operation, where the labeling can be so scattered and random.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have got troubles with textures in the new Inventor 2013. When I try to programmatically change a texture in a render style of a part (no matter, whether I use an existing render style or create a new one), when I set the texture file name, Inventor throws an exception "Bad argument". In Inventor 2012, it worked. How textures should be set in the new Inventor?
Sample
PartDocument partDoc = ... some initialization
RenderStyle newRenderStyle = partDoc.RenderStyles.Add("newRenderStyle");
newRenderStyle.TextureFilename = newTexFilename; //this throws an exception bad format, even if the texture is in the Inventor textures directory

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn order to create a swale, I created a feature line representing the bottom of the swale and graded up to an existing surface around its outer perimeter. The slope pattern looks ok when it initially generates the grading. I need to grip and drag certain points along the feature line in order to bring the top of slope lines of the swale close to the bottom of slope lines of an adjacent berm. As soon as I grip and drag the feature line, the slope pattern lines go awry. Instead of a short line then a long line, then short line, etc., the lines are all the same length. It actually appears as if short and long lines are overlapping each other.
View 8 Replies View RelatedDoes the Style setting Plan Readability work for General Notes? I've been thinking we should use notes for all our text so that they react the same as all the other Civil 3D labels. But they don't seem to. They scale correctly but stay parallel to the UCS.
I've tried this in a fresh drawing from a simple template and from an OOTB template. They never rotate in a layout. Is this the normal behavior or am I missing a setting? This is how I have it set in my style:

I have some working code that sets the Text Style name to ROMANS inside my Mleader Style called ARROW. Here it is:
(setq dict (dictsearch (namedobjdict) "ACAD_MLEADERSTYLE") ; start setq q
dict1 (member (cons 3 "Arrow") dict) ; code 3 is Mleader Style Description
el1 (entget (cdr (assoc 350 dict1))) ; code 350 is dictionary entity handle
er (tblobjname "style" "Romans") ; new value for MLEADER Text Style
) ; end set
(entmod (subst (cons 342 er) (assoc 342 el1) el1)) ; code 342 is MmTextStyleId - write new vale to mTextStyleId
I want to modify this code so that it sets the Arrow Head Size to a specific value, say 0.125. Having a tough time figuring out the DXF codes and tblobjname to do this.
Maybe this is just me being super new to 3ds, or maybe it's just a limitation of the program, but I can't figure out/see a way to set the length of a line.
