as the toolbars are out of sight and only visible when I need it.

Apr 2, 2012Is there a way to slow down the reaction time of the ribbon auto hide. I currently have the ribbon docked at the side of the screen with auto hide on. next to the ribbon i have a couple of tool bars. when i move across to the tool bar i sometimes over shoot and activate the ribbon which hides the tool bar. Ideally, iwould like to slow down the reaction time before the ribbon appears.

AutoCAD 2013 :: If Click Auto-hide On Anchored Palette To Open It - Detaches From The Anchor
Mar 30, 2012Currently using 2013. In 2011 or 2012 when Anchoring Right (or Left) a palette Auto-hide has behavior that seems odd to me. If you click Auto-hide on an anchored palette to open it (and presumably keep it open) it detaches from the anchor. And then when you close it you lose the palette on the anchor. To me this wastes time. I'd like to keep that palette open to work a bit and not have to hassle with it by not having it open, but at the same time don't want to waste time later calling it up and anchoring it again. Is this still happening in 2013?

Jun 30, 2013I took up the program to facilitate completion of a small project for a 16-year old daughter that's making an incredible recovery from a serious illness. I provide this background because I'm currently "a bit" impatient - and I'm HOPING GIMP can be used to get this done. What we're looking at is a VERY small "Heart Locket" our daughter was given at birth. What I'm looking to do is create "photo masks" for my wife and my faces so we can "craft" the photos in the requisite size (~1/8"x1/8") and shape (heart)! So far I've succeeded in importing a photo I'd taken of the Locket's interior with a Macro Lense at a "workable size," such that the finished "mask" can be scaled to match the photos we're using, then scaled down to final size in photographic process. And while I'm VERY impressed with Path Tool, I CAN'T find a way to eliminate the tedium of "hand-smoothing" the result. I actually found a plugin that'd been developed for this purpose in 2009, but fails to install because it's looking for (what I have to assume is) an older dll. I CAN'T be unique in this need, can I?

Why does Gimp's resizing a pix always eventually fail intermittently in Fedora-14..?
I resize all my pix edits to 11-inches, to fit the screen properly.. After Gimp has resized about seven pix, on the next one, I delete the numbers after the decimal after the "11", and hit OK, but the numbers I deleted after the decimal all come back..
I must return to "Printsize", delete the whole height number, and key-in "11" for it to save the number of my choice..
How do I configure Gimp so it will resize pix without this glitch?..

Now, I'd like to know what color correction settings were applied by that filter so that I can go back to my video editing package and apply similar color corrections across the entire video clip, not just the still.

Jun 11, 2012I have noticed that using "Stretch Contrast" gives a much more contrasty image than using the "White Balance" option. Isn't it supposed to be the other way round based on the description?
I'm using the GIMP 2.8.0 for Windows.
Also "Stretch Contrast" is very close to "Normalize" and "Normalize" does seem to shift color in exactly the same way as the "Stretch Contrast" option, although based on the description, it shouldn't.

I want to edit the gradient yet when I attempt to move the sliders by clicking and dragging, nothing moves. GIMP :: Colours Menu Windows Hidden 2.6?

Colours > Curves ..... nothing visible. The toolbar shows the Curves options (histogram; sample average).
This happens for all selections in the Colours menu; all the other menus are working fine.
I know finding the magic words to use in a search can be the ticket!
I uninstalled gimp removed the .gimp2 preferences and reinstalled--
Edited: well this is embarrassing The png I was trying to edit with Curves had Indexed Colour layers.
GIMP :: Tablet Doesn't Appear In Devices Menu
Feb 4, 2014I have a new computer that has Windows 8. I have attempted this with BOTH Gimp 2.8 AND 2.6. I have a regular Wacom Bamboo Tablet.
I've been hunting online for HOURS, and all I find are the same answers that don't work for me. What I find are answers like "Enable the pen and eraser in the Devices menu" and such and such. No, that does not work. Only the core pointer shows up in the devices menu, and there is NO WAY to change that. In the Input Controllers menu, what show up are DirectX DirectInput, Mouse Buttons, Keyboard, and Main Mouse Wheel. All of these are activated. Despite every attempt I've made, nothing changes. The tablet pen and eraser DOES NOT SHOW UP AT ALL.
Again, Core Pointer is the ONLY device that appears in the Input Devices. All available controllers are active. The tablet is plugged in, and YES, I opened Gimp WITH the tablet. I'm an artist who uses Gimp, so not having the ability to draw is like not having my lifeblood.

Feb 23, 2013My problem is it's in its own menu under Filters and I would prefer to have it under Light and Shadow. So I open the script using Wordpad like I've done many times before with similar scripts and go to edit the menu path. I make the change, save it, and refreshed the scripts and I get the error "eval: unbound variable:" I tried changing it back and I got it again.
Here is the code, again the only line I've changed is

GIMP :: Disabling Keyboard Menu Shortcuts (2012)
Dec 2, 2012A new feature in 2.8 appears to be keyboard accelerators (shortcuts) forthe pull-down menus. For example, Alt-S displays the Select menu, Alt-Wthe Windows menu, etc.
I have already assigned these key-combinations to other functions in thekeyboard shortcuts menu, but the default menubar assignments are takingprecedence.
How can I disable these menu accelerators so that I can regain the use ofthe Alt-[ESVILCTRWH] sequences?
Maybe there should be a toggle on the Configure Keyboard Shortcuts menu tohandle this. And certainly, if you reassign these keystrokes in the menu,their original function should be disabled.
GIMP :: Decor Filter Has Disappeared From Filters Menu?
May 16, 2013My decor filter has disappeared from the filters menu. Was using it yesterday, no problem. Today, it's just gone. I have uninstalled Gimp and reinstalled it several times and that does not work.
The version I am using is 2.8.4 and I have a PC with Windows 7. I have been using the program for the last two months with no problems and the more I use the more I like it.
Just to add the issue, I installed Gimp 2.8.4 on my wife's computer, and the filter is there.
