Photoshop :: Auto Smart Fix, Auto Levels, Auto...
May 18, 2009I have photoshop cs4 and I cannot find the Auto smart fix, auto levels, and auto contrast nor the adjustment for each that I had with photoshop elements.
View 10 RepliesI have photoshop cs4 and I cannot find the Auto smart fix, auto levels, and auto contrast nor the adjustment for each that I had with photoshop elements.
View 10 RepliesI was using these tool on a lot of images, because they often seemed to vastly improve them, making the colors pop on otherwise somewhat dull ones, and getting rid of unwanted color casts..
Later though I noticed that it is often at the cost of burning out hightlights in some areas beyond salvation.I also find shadow /highlight sometimes does this also.
Then I tried to protect some small areas with a mask before proceeding, but it seems that I can't find information on just painting a mask, but only videos with much more complex adjustment such as the Russel Crow or Lynda ones with maintaing hair detail while superimposing images, which is way beyond what I need in these cases.

If I try the wand to select and inverse I get unnatural looking divisions. Is it a matter of feathering to the right extent?Â
I have just moved from 7.0 to CS3 (and PC to Mac) and am currently trying to get to grips with the new features! Once which I love is the auto-align and auto-blend feature(s). My question is, is there any way to control how these features work? I have seen on some web sites people talk about 'fuzziness' sliders where you can control that if an object (pixels) appear in X% of the photos they should/shouldn't be included in the final image but I cannot find these.
My intention is to use these features to take photos of monuments and have the people who are moving about removed from the final image (I guess it's the auto-align that would do this.) I tried a test and took a number of photos at home but I kept moving one object around (a pen.) The pen appears in all the images but in a different location so it always appears in the final image. When I tried auto-align with a stack that included one image without the pen, the pen was removed from the final image. Given the first scenario (i.e. the object is in all the images but in a different location) is there any way of automatically removing it using auto-align or would this have to be a manual process? In the real world, it would be possible to take a photo of a monument with people in different locations but it would be much harder (or take a long time) to take one where at least one person was not in all the photos (there's always someone loitering.)
Yes, I'm probably the only person on the planet that wants this, but I liked how the Auto Tone auto adjusted the Exposure slider (ONLY!) and left all the other sliders at zero in the Lightroom 4 beta.
Â
Is there a way to write a preset that returns that behavior?
whenever [on any photo] i apply auto levels or auto contrast or auto color from the image>adjustments tab, the entire photo will completely white out as if i had added a new white layer over my active layer (which i am not doing). however, it only does this in 'auto' changes. so if i were to manually adjust my levels or my contrast or color, the 'white-out' effect wouldn't occur.
i really need this feature. i have already uninstalled/reinstalled photoshop cs2 and that didn't seem to fix the problem.
I entered the following key sequence: Adjustments Panel | Levels | Alt-Click Auto | Find Dark & Light Colors | Snap Neutral Midtones | Midtones After keying in this sequence and making adjustments to my photo, I inadvertently hit one too many OKs as I was exiting and PS changed my defaults. They now read: H: 55, S:0, B: 0, R: 128, G: 128 and B: 128. How can I reset these values to their default settings?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have over 300 photos that all need an auto levels, auto colour and auto contrast.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI quite often need to process digital photo's on CD ROM. By which I mean I am asked to duplicate CDs with sometimes hundreds of pics on. In doing so I notice that the original pictures are invariably poor colour and brightness. When I apply an Image Adjust Auto levels function the picture is wonderfully transformed as to how it should look. If I spend time on each individual photo it takes ages to do and no longer is cost effective.
I like to keep the client happy and so, is there a way I can create a 'droplet' or 'batch' or indeed anything that will allow me to apply Auto Levels or Auto Contrast to say, 200 images at a time? I am using Photoshop 6.1 at present.
what is keyboard sequence for AUTO in Image->Adjustments->Levels?
Â
(there is an underbar below the A in the dialog box).
I have to process about close to 400 pictures every weekend which takes a lot of time when doing levels and everything on every individual picture.
Â
I need to create a preset that will do just that on 400 pictures but will make adjustments based on each individual picture's needs. I have tried to work on 1 picture while have the rest selected and Auto Sync selected. But what it does then is to apply the same values on all selected pictures and not "auto" for every individual picture.
I have a stack of screenshots to maintain, where what changes most often is the release information: so, I've made a separate .psd with the header and used File > Place to add it as a smart object. What I'm not having any luck with, is changing that single .psd file and seeing the update ripple through to all the screenshots.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWorking in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex.
This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.
Â
How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?
I have been disappointed by the "enhancements" in the auto curve feature in CS6. While it supposedly simplifies adjustments wtih a single curve, I find it doesn't work as well as the functionality in CS5.
Â
In CS5, it would adjust each channel individually. While that made it difficult to edit, the quality of the color corrections especially was superior. It was great for establishing a baseline correction and then adding other minor adjustments, as needed.
Â
I have beautiful photos that I edited in CS5 using this feature. Now when I open them in CS6, the auto feature doesn't provide the same results with the same photos.
Â
Is there any way to get the same type of curv auto adjustments from CS5 in CS6?
Is there a way I can set PS to autosave some preset metadata every time I create a new drawing or update some photo or photoart? I want it so save into the file somewhere, my name as the creator. I am trying to do this will all my programs that allow me to save a file that I create. This way if I ever need to back up all my personal files again I can search for all files that have me as the Creator or Author and back them up all at once. My intention is always to set up folders such as My Photos, My Art, My Word Docs, My Excel, etc... and save every media I create in these and I can never seem to keep up with this and my files end up everywhere. The my Hard Drive fills up or I want to clean my PC and finding all my files is a challenge and time consuming.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo when I'm working in Photoshop and I have several layers open and I want to work on a certain layer, I click on the layer that I need in the layer menu and begin work, but this is when my problem occurs. Whenever I have the layer I want selected, and then I accidentally click on another part of the document that doesn't contain pixels from that layer, it automatically switches to that layer and it is very frustrating to work with and I have to be very exact when I try to click and drag a part of the photo without having it automatically switch to the layer behind it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time that I start (boot, turn on) my computer, Photoshop 7.0 starts automatically, increasing considerably the machine's boot time. Photoshop IS NOT listed in the taskbar's start menu / programs/ startup. I wonder if there is a place in the registry (win98 SE) where I can de-activate that, or, maybe, somewhere whithin Photoshop some option to able/disable automatic startup.
How do I disable that WITHOUT uninstalling Photoshop?
I've got Photoshop CS3 and would like to "Auto Correct" some 3000 photos.
The only way I know of how to auto correct something is to manually click
Image>Adjustments>Auto Levels, Auto Colors, and Auto Curves.
Is there some way that I can have Photoshop completely Auto Correct a batch of photos?
Everything works fine with Auto Import except when an image arrives in LR so does the Import Dialog Window and I have to click it away with every shot. I am in the Library Loup View in the Fit mode. This happens weather the Import preferences has "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" checked or not.I have Win XP 64bit.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe copy a lot of existing elements from illustrator files into existing Photoshop documents. The dimensions of the Illustrator files are much larger, so we've always pasted into Photoshop and it resizes to the smaller photoshop document.
Â
When I paste into the existing Photoshop document in CS5, I need the image/object to resize to my Photoshop document, instead of pasting in at the actual/original size.
Â
Is there something I can change in preferences? Or a way to do this?
After moving to Win 7 I re-installed CS5. And have forgotten how I managed to set something to "auto select the right layer". For instance, clicking on the text of a text layer used to select that layer, clicking on a shape selected the appropriate shape layer. Which setting did I use for that and where can I find it? Should have written it down...
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to do a face blend and I've repeated the process three times in order to make sure I'm not making any mistakes, but I still can't auto blend the two layers.
Any time I go Edit, auto-blend layers it's greyed out which is quite frustrating. I've taken a couple of screenshots to illustrate my problem. I am using CS6 on a new MacBook Pro.
Is there a way within Photoshop CS5 to add Author/photographer details to image. When I save?
Â
I have to macs with photoshop and I need to monitor who is editting what I figure if everything saved on my machine gets tagged I could work it out from there? A bit like how microsoft word will add the author by default.
Â
I'm aware of File info but that would be a long process to do it. Ideally not an action either.
The Auto Select Layer/Group feature of the move tool can be really handy when you have a ton of layers. But it also drives me crazy when I forget to turn it off!
Â
Is there a hotkey to toggle it off and on? Ideally, I'd like to press-and-hold to turn Auto Select on, but once the key is released, it would turn off.
I'm constantly having to go through numerous steps to upload an updated web graphic to the sites I manage.
Â
Is it possible to link Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS6 so that upon updating a web graphic in Photoshop, DW will auto upload?
Â
Right now here's my steps for updating a web graphic:
1. "Save for web" in PS
2. Dialog 1 -- confirms settings
3. Dialog 2 -- Do you want to replace?
4. Switch to DW
5. Refresh dir
6. Click image
7. Upload
While editing two very similar photos and using the CS6 auto-tone command, one of the photos photoshop was able to truly fix up while the other barely changed. Here is the example:
Â
Photo A was very blue and dark; the auto-tone command magically fixed it up to have nice color variation in the rock and made it brighter. Here is the before/after:
On the other hand, photo B didn't work out the same way; the auto-tone command barely did anything, even though I thought both photos looked to have very similar problems (blue, dark, etc). Here are the links to the full original photo A and photo B in case they are useful...
Â
how can I achieve on photo B the same effect that auto-tone did for photo A! Is there any way to find out what adjustments auto-tone made?
I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind the fact that seeminly every other product out there has an autosave and recovery feature..why am I paying so much for a product that will eventually crash and I lose all my work since my last save?
