Photoshop :: Scripting For Auto Levels, Colors And Contrast
Sep 11, 2006I have over 300 photos that all need an auto levels, auto colour and auto contrast.
View 1 RepliesI have over 300 photos that all need an auto levels, auto colour and auto contrast.
View 1 Replieswhenever [on any photo] i apply auto levels or auto contrast or auto color from the image>adjustments tab, the entire photo will completely white out as if i had added a new white layer over my active layer (which i am not doing). however, it only does this in 'auto' changes. so if i were to manually adjust my levels or my contrast or color, the 'white-out' effect wouldn't occur.
i really need this feature. i have already uninstalled/reinstalled photoshop cs2 and that didn't seem to fix the problem.
I have photoshop cs4 and I cannot find the Auto smart fix, auto levels, and auto contrast nor the adjustment for each that I had with photoshop elements.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was using these tool on a lot of images, because they often seemed to vastly improve them, making the colors pop on otherwise somewhat dull ones, and getting rid of unwanted color casts..
Later though I noticed that it is often at the cost of burning out hightlights in some areas beyond salvation.I also find shadow /highlight sometimes does this also.
Then I tried to protect some small areas with a mask before proceeding, but it seems that I can't find information on just painting a mask, but only videos with much more complex adjustment such as the Russel Crow or Lynda ones with maintaing hair detail while superimposing images, which is way beyond what I need in these cases.
Â
If I try the wand to select and inverse I get unnatural looking divisions. Is it a matter of feathering to the right extent?Â
I try to apply Levels & or Brightness & Contrast settings to an image, it always seems to revert back to the way it was. The filters won't do anything it seems. I have Adobe Photoshop CS2. At home it did the same thing and I re-installed Photoshop only to find out it still did not work.
View 4 Replies View Relatedbasically what is happening i am importing line drawings that i have scanned in. i am opening the TIF file then changing it to a PSD or JPG (i have tried with both) changed the mode to RGB and 8 bit
i then try to adjust the levels of the image to make the drawn lines i scanned in stand out more. the preview shows the lines getting darker but when i click "OK" the image just doesn't change and the lines stay faint. the same happens when i try to use just the simple "adjust brightness contrast" option aswell. is there something i can do? i cant seem to figure it out!
looking at the image plane and the 2 inputs I used - diffuse / opacity (alpha channel), what parameters are the best way to adjust the image plane brightness / contrast / levels (photoshop style)?
That’s what I like about these forums. A great way to get straight to the point and learn stuff fast.
I want to 'auto-contrast' the images
2. how does this function performs? I mean what does photoshop do in the image? also, can I set parameters for this function? and adjust it to my needs?
3. if I do this functions many times to a file, it will change it every time?
My "auto contrast" keyboard shortcut is not working for some odd reason. "Alt+Shift+Ctrl+L"
If I go manually to Image>adjustments>Auto Contrast it works.
I'm on CS, XP, Dell.
I'm using PE10, and usually start with the "Quick Edit" tab to do a "Smart Fix" where I can select a desirable fix. Sometimes I additionally do Shadow adjustments and/or Highlight adjustments, but not much else. Then go to "Full" edits.
Â
- "Enhance - Auto Contrast" does tonal corrections as I understand. However I usually see no difference after doing this. Is that because when I did the Smart Fix, it is essentially doing the Auto Contrast as one of its adjustments? If so, is it just a waste of time for me to do the Auto Contrast if I have previously done a Smart Fix?
Â
- As the last step, I usually use "Enhance - Unsharp Mask" on my photos with Amount = 70, Radius = 2.0, and Threshold = 0. Are those reasonable numbers? I understand that beginners tend to over-sharpen their photos. I've played around with various values, and these numbers seem to have worked for me, but would just like other opinions since I don't have that professional eye as to what is a great photo. I make sure that I zoom in to print size or more when looking at the results of sharpening.
I came across this forum as I was browsing various techniques on how I can improve and I very much tried to duplicate the colors/tone/atmosphere of this photo:
I don't know how to quite explain it or if I am using the right terms, but you can notice that the overall tone and color of the photo is somewhat washed out? Like the colors are a bit muted and soft but not too extremely so. And yet none of the picture loses its crispness. The colors look soft? I don't know how to quite explain it articulately.
I first tried to make a duplicate layer and then blurred it, and then proceeded to reduce its opacity, but that just made everything look "glowy", like something from heaven.
I entered the following key sequence: Adjustments Panel | Levels | Alt-Click Auto | Find Dark & Light Colors | Snap Neutral Midtones | Midtones After keying in this sequence and making adjustments to my photo, I inadvertently hit one too many OKs as I was exiting and PS changed my defaults. They now read: H: 55, S:0, B: 0, R: 128, G: 128 and B: 128. How can I reset these values to their default settings?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI quite often need to process digital photo's on CD ROM. By which I mean I am asked to duplicate CDs with sometimes hundreds of pics on. In doing so I notice that the original pictures are invariably poor colour and brightness. When I apply an Image Adjust Auto levels function the picture is wonderfully transformed as to how it should look. If I spend time on each individual photo it takes ages to do and no longer is cost effective.
I like to keep the client happy and so, is there a way I can create a 'droplet' or 'batch' or indeed anything that will allow me to apply Auto Levels or Auto Contrast to say, 200 images at a time? I am using Photoshop 6.1 at present.
what is keyboard sequence for AUTO in Image->Adjustments->Levels?
Â
(there is an underbar below the A in the dialog box).
I have noticed that using "Stretch Contrast" gives a much more contrasty image than using the "White Balance" option. Isn't it supposed to be the other way round based on the description?
I'm using the GIMP 2.8.0 for Windows.
Also "Stretch Contrast" is very close to "Normalize" and "Normalize" does seem to shift color in exactly the same way as the "Stretch Contrast" option, although based on the description, it shouldn't.
I have to process about close to 400 pictures every weekend which takes a lot of time when doing levels and everything on every individual picture.
Â
I need to create a preset that will do just that on 400 pictures but will make adjustments based on each individual picture's needs. I have tried to work on 1 picture while have the rest selected and Auto Sync selected. But what it does then is to apply the same values on all selected pictures and not "auto" for every individual picture.
Is there a way that for a spot color I can also define breakdown levels? If I have the Lab values for 100%, 75%,50%,25% and I want Ilustrator to use this breakdown colors for interpolation.
Â
Its like perdefine what a 50% tint of a spot color looks like.
I've noticed recently that when I use the EXPORT command to create a JPEG, the resulting image colors of the EXPORTed JPEG are deeper (certainly more saturated) and the contrast over the entire image is much higher. The image looks nothing like what it looks like in GIMP prior to export.
I've tried EXPORTing to TIFF and I get the same results (JPEG looks exactly like the TIFF, just a different file size). Is it a possible ICC Profile mismatch (i.g. not having one set specifically inside GIMP)?
What is the effect or process to, for example, ensure that normally washed out bright background on, say, a sunny beach, has same depth and contrast as the darker subject in the foreground? It is an unnatural state since your eye and most cameras will adjust to one extreme or the other.

I'd like to make it easier for our 100,000 designers to use AI to make custom products using a laser cutter.
Â
Current Practice
Designers open our AI laser cutting design templates, add their designs using the AI settings our online pricing system can read, then upload their designs to our website for instant pricing, making and shipping.
Â
The Problem
Designers have to manually setup AI with settings that can be read by our online pricing system. If they get these settings wrong, our system can not read their designs. So they are rejected and can not be priced or made. This happens more often that you'd imagine.
Â
The Solution
Designers do not like design rejections. So I'd like to eradicate them by providing our designers with a version of AI that provides the following settings only:
Â
* Set document to RGB
* Stroke weight = 0.01mm
* Stroke colors = RGB 0, 0, 255 and 255, 0, 0
* Fill color = RGB 0, 0, 0
Â
This will mean designers have a very limited number of AI choices, with nothing to distract them or to get wrong. Which will result in less (or zero?) design rejections. And products made faster than before. Rejoice!
Â
Question
How do we program our AI laser cutting design templates so that when they are opened in AI, they auto set AI settings as defined above?
Is there a way to assign one of the default layer colors with javascript? like light blue, light red, or green.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to change the colors of a pathItem corresponding to the string value of several text fields in my document. I've been successful in changing the fill and stroke color of the pathItem, but I can not find any reference in the Illustrator Javascript Guide for accessing additional strokes and/or fills that have been applied to the object in the Appearance panel.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a script that adds custom spot colours to the swatch pallet. I've manage to put together something that works (I've adapted an existing script), but the colours added are not spots, just CMYK colour swatches.Also, I need the script not to error if the swatch already exists.
Â
//Add Custom Swatches
var docRef = app.activeDocument;
function cmykColor(c, m, y, k) {
    var newCMYK = new CMYKColor();
    newCMYK.cyan = c;
    newCMYK.magenta = m;
    newCMYK.yellow = y;
    newCMYK.black = k;
    return newCMYK;
[code]....
I have about 300+ product labels that are in Illustrator, and some of them have an incorrect rich black color swatch. What I have been doing is going through and changing the color pallette to change them manually. Essentially going to the instance of black and changing them to regular black.
Â
Is there any sort of script that can do this? The files are in CMYK.
Â
Otherwise I have a lot of monotonous file editing to do.
I tried to add a LabColor with an Illustrator script.
Â
function addLabColorToSwatch(L,a,b,swatchName){
var color = new LabColor();
color.l = L;
color.a = a;
color.b = b;
 var swatchgroup = app.activeDocument.swatchGroups.add();
swatchgroup.name = "test swatchgroup from jsx script";
[code]....
Â
The script crashes on the Line 'swatch.color = color;' with "Error 1202: Not implemented"..This seems to a bug. I allready filed it.
I need to generate an overview of the colors used in a document.
Â
For that, I would like to cycle through several rectangles of which I know the exact size. The rectangles are filled with a color from the swatch palette.
Â
What I try to achieve is that the swatch name of the rectangle's fill color is written to a text field directly above the rectangle. But I could not find a possibility to 'extract' the fillcolor from a pageItem into a pastable string.
Is there a way to do this with Illustrator and Javascript?
For example I would like to make my images layer Green and my copy layer Red in my layers palette.
View 6 Replies View Relatedcolor value of spot colors cannot be adjusted via javascript?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been looking around for a script that will take the used spot colors in a document and place them in a predetermined spot. I've came across several posts about this, such as the COLOR CHIPPER although I think it's focus was on swatches. What is confusing is the part of making New CMYKColor or RGB or if I even need to do that. I've looked at other posts and the Adobe docs, but none seem to work. Adding the text isn't difficult, it's getting these spot colors to reflect what's in the document that is. From what I'm seeing now:
Â
I may have to use some other type of script such as Applescript to get rid of unused swatches first throught the actions panel, but I'm not sure.I could possibly use the getByName method to call out the specific rectangle and the and relative callout with the appropriate color instead of having to position everytime.Â
I need to automatically create all the possible pattern combinations with 6 shapes and 6 colors.
 Â
I have an Excell file with assigned color combinations (values from 1 to 6) in the rows, and the shape name (A to F) in the columns. Column 7 is a string containin the color combination names (i.d. 123456, 123345 etc...) so that I can output each combination with the color/numbers in the name.
 Â
I'd like Illustrator to pick every row and assign the contained colors to each shape of the column and to export a .png with the name from column 7 content.
 Â
Just simple as that! But to me it sounds pretty hard!Â
 Â
Is there a script that makes it already posted somewhere? - i couldn't find any -Â or something simliar to start coding from?
