Everything works fine with Auto Import except when an image arrives in LR so does the Import Dialog Window and I have to click it away with every shot. I am in the Library Loup View in the Fit mode. This happens weather the Import preferences has "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" checked or not.I have Win XP 64bit.
View 3 RepliesYes, I'm probably the only person on the planet that wants this, but I liked how the Auto Tone auto adjusted the Exposure slider (ONLY!) and left all the other sliders at zero in the Lightroom 4 beta.
Is there a way to write a preset that returns that behavior?
I have photoshop cs4 and I cannot find the Auto smart fix, auto levels, and auto contrast nor the adjustment for each that I had with photoshop elements.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was using these tool on a lot of images, because they often seemed to vastly improve them, making the colors pop on otherwise somewhat dull ones, and getting rid of unwanted color casts..
Later though I noticed that it is often at the cost of burning out hightlights in some areas beyond salvation.I also find shadow /highlight sometimes does this also.
Then I tried to protect some small areas with a mask before proceeding, but it seems that I can't find information on just painting a mask, but only videos with much more complex adjustment such as the Russel Crow or Lynda ones with maintaing hair detail while superimposing images, which is way beyond what I need in these cases.
If I try the wand to select and inverse I get unnatural looking divisions. Is it a matter of feathering to the right extent?
I have just moved from 7.0 to CS3 (and PC to Mac) and am currently trying to get to grips with the new features! Once which I love is the auto-align and auto-blend feature(s). My question is, is there any way to control how these features work? I have seen on some web sites people talk about 'fuzziness' sliders where you can control that if an object (pixels) appear in X% of the photos they should/shouldn't be included in the final image but I cannot find these.
My intention is to use these features to take photos of monuments and have the people who are moving about removed from the final image (I guess it's the auto-align that would do this.) I tried a test and took a number of photos at home but I kept moving one object around (a pen.) The pen appears in all the images but in a different location so it always appears in the final image. When I tried auto-align with a stack that included one image without the pen, the pen was removed from the final image. Given the first scenario (i.e. the object is in all the images but in a different location) is there any way of automatically removing it using auto-align or would this have to be a manual process? In the real world, it would be possible to take a photo of a monument with people in different locations but it would be much harder (or take a long time) to take one where at least one person was not in all the photos (there's always someone loitering.)
I've had this issue recently where my Presets won't automatically preview like they used to. I've tried switching back and forth between Library and Develop, but no luck. I'm forced to apply a preset and then remove if I don't like.

What I have a gripe with is why when I am exporting my editied raws into what ever jpeg format I want (highres low res etc) I put these in a folder with in the orgional raws parent folder and call it "02 - High_Res" for example. To then get this to show in the lightroom folder structure you then have to 'sync' the folder. Is there a way to have this done automatically? Is there a way I can just get it to appear with out syncing?
Auto exposure with Lightroom has a default clipping of shadows and highlights,is it possible for this to be changed in a prefs of some sort?
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy workflow is to copy all photos from my camera to a folder that is configured for auto import.Lightroom takes these pics and import them to the library.But it does not exclude duplicate photos. If I copy the same photos to the auto import folder again, LR imports all photos again.
Why can't I configure to exclude duplicates as it works with the manual import function?
I would like to disable auto import.
I uncheck "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" under Edit - preferences - Import. However, it rechecks itself when I close lightroom down. Then whenever I put in a storage device -- a memory card, external hard drive, flash drive, etc -- Lightroom starts up and wants to import from that device.
How do I prevent this?
How can the modification time be added to the label that appears when the cursor hovers over an image?
I am a newbie and have images stored in the Light Room Catalog, in other folders, and in both. When an image is editing and saved in Photoshop, I do not know which image has been updated. The modification time in the label would allow me to know.
Auto Layout Preset Panel. I have been unable to locate it.
I just got a new computer and use Lightroom 3.6. Now when I make a slide show and save it as a PDF it won't auto-advance to the next slide when running. When I review it in Lightroom it auto-advances fine but when I run the PDF file it sticks on the first slide and must be advanced manually. I believe I'm running the latest version of Adobe Reader as I just downloaded it last week when I got my new computer. how to get the auto-advance feature running like it did on my old computer?

I would love to see an analysis of the meta data to create smart stacks suitable for panoramic merging or HDR depending on how they were shot. Then the next logical request would be for a Process the Stacks in Photoshop, thus automating this process.

I need to create a preset that will do just that on 400 pictures but will make adjustments based on each individual picture's needs. I have tried to work on 1 picture while have the rest selected and Auto Sync selected. But what it does then is to apply the same values on all selected pictures and not "auto" for every individual picture.
I am having an issue with Adobe products on my Mac. When I try to auto export )or save as in LR, the popup screen opens and then closes right away without me being able to update anything. I have also experienced this with the PS application. I am currently unable to export my catalog as a result.

Lr does not even show up in the Auto Play pop up window.
When I enter a keyword for an image Lightroom offers me a selection from an auto-complete list, this is great and I get my keywords right.
My question is whether Lightroom can offer auto-complete suggestions for the hierarchical list when entering a new keyword.
For example I have a keyword call Activity which has keywords like swimming, walking, running within it.
If for my next image I want to add diving, I can type Diving < Activity, this adds the keyword Diving to my image and Diving would be with Activity.
The problem I have is that I can never always remember the exact spelling of some of my keywords which means I get duplicates, for example
if I cannot remember whether Activity is actually Activitys or even Activities I want Lightroom to get the right spelling and not add a new keyword, so if I enter Diving < Act - I want Lightroom to auto-complete Activity for me so I get it right. Without this capability and I do not recall the correct spelling I always end up creating a new keyword.
Kelby's book shows how to edit a video in Develop by Capturing a Frame, then opening the Frame in Develop mode, selecting the video, and turning on Auto-Sync so that changes to the photo will also change the video. Not all edits are possible. I was hoping that cropping with the Rectangle tool would work, so I gave it a try. No luck. Indeed, LR5 tossed up an debugger-style error message.

Is there a way to have the sections of left/right panels open automatically when mouse is hovered on them? They close automatically when I go to use another section...collections instead of files, eg. But then I have to open section again manually when going back. Very tedious. At the least, is there a way to lock a section open?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI like to keep track of what I've exported and uploaded to Flickr and other sites and what I've sent out to people. It seems tagging my images with some appropriate keyword is the best way to do this. Such keywords as "Flickr" or "Facebook", etc. But I the only way I can do this is to remember to manually apply each such keyword when I do the export. It would seem to me to be wonderfully simply if I could, in the export form, do something like "Add keywords:" and list keywords that would be added to each image exported through that form.
Is there another way to track such usage other than with keywords?
I am in the book module and trying to use the "auto layout preset editor"......when I go to save any custom preset it does not save and the preset area remains blank. I only have the four presets that came with lightroom and cannot create my own.
I am using LR 4.1 on Mac OS 10.8 mountain lion..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported tiff images into Lightroom 4 that were scanned by DigMyPics.com. The color of the images look good on the Windows 7 photo viewer. It looks horrible in Lightroom 4. My monitor is callibrated, the import develop setting is set to "none" , the box is unchecked "apply auto tone adjustments".I think that the windows viewer is showing the accurate color of the scan and LR is not. I don't think DigMyPics would send this awful color.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to stop the PDF slideshow exports from LR from automatically advancing? I want it to remain on the slides until I hit the cursor button (like I can do from within LR.) My pdf slideshows, however, keep auto-advancing. I can get it to advance FASTER in either direction by hitting the cursor buttons, but I can't "stop" it from auto-advancing completely, which is what I want.
The LR slideshow export page says that "Adobe Acrobat transitions use a fixed speed," but I thought that this meant that you couldn't change the speed of the transition itself. Can you also not change the "rate of advancing" to the next slide?
So as soon as I import my files it automatically applies one of my presets and I have to manually undo them. I don't remember ever setting this up.

How am I supposed to set up the auto import to the My Pictures folder when I am supposed to chose an empty folder for Lightroom to watch? I must be misunderstanding something because I imagine that everyone who buys Lightroom already has photos in their My Pictures folder.

Am i the only one - you auto sync a few shots, then you want to copy settings from one shot to a couple of other ones, then you want to go back to autosyncing, but if you've forgotton to click the button, you're not back on autosync. And then you're like, which ones have, which ones haven't etc.
And the reverse is worst .. Geez, like now you've got tons and tons of shots all with the wrong settings...Don't they have photographers in Adobe who use this thing? Or am i unique, in that some settings i want to copy, some i want to auto sync?
