i switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties
How do you get the text to conform to the oval on the bottom of the text but remain straight across the top - see attached image for example of what I'm going on about.
I had a go with the warp text but couldn't get it. Is this effect done by creating one letter at a time and adjusting the height?
My gimp isn't starting up it says GNU Image Manipulation Program has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly Windows will close the program and notify you if the solution is available.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst it stops pasting anything except the first thing copied when Gimp opens, and now this. When I try to search for a font or type in text in the text tool in Gimp 2.8, it just jumps to random other tools instead of typing.
Why can't this program ever seem to work FULLY?
Text Along Path tool. I create a path then select the text tool and type some text. I click on the Text along Path button and an outline of my text shows up along my path. That's as far as I can go. How do I make the text stick there? How do I complete this process. I know the solution is simple but I can't figure it out and I don't see it in the GIMP manual.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a very light, occasional Gimp user and don't know what's happened to the text tool (I'm using v2.8.4).
When using the text too, some letters kick out of the text tool and open other tool options. Small "l" opens the blend tool. Small "b" opens path tool. Big "B" opens bucket fill.
The Text Tool is active. I have copied and pasted a paragraph into the tool. How do I end the Text Tool process and save the paragraph?
Also, is it possible to import text with its font and size intact?
I just upgraded to 2.8 and when I want to add some text this tool appears on top of the text box. No matter where I move the text box it chases my text box around. It is annoying as it covers part of my image and I don't need it there. How do I turn this thing off?
Also why when I choose New Toolbox I get this super long tool pane. I resize it to what I want. Then when I close it and do it again it comes back again. Any way to set this up correctly?
Is it possible to get rid off margins (spare space) on top and bottom as per attached screenshot?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI use the path tool to create the shape of the text line I want to curve. I enter the text I want with the font, colour, etc, and select text along path. The text goes where I want it, but no matter what I have tried, the text colour along the path (my curved text) is always red and it doesnot look like the font in my text area. I can change the font / colour of the original text which works great, but the text along the path doesn't seem to change.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just installed GIMP to see if it can replace Photoshop for me. But I experience some weird troubles. When I try to use the text tool I can't type anything because all the keys acts as shortcut keys. Aren't these supposed to be overridden when using things like the text tool? I also have the same problems with dialog boxes. The tab key is used to hide toolbars, but when I open dialog boxes I would rather want to use tab to jump from one input box to another. Plus I couldn't enter numbers because the number keys was shortcuts for zoom level.I guess I'm just doing this all wrong? I'm on OSX Maverick.

I have checked the road map for GIMP and I have seen that the Unified transform tool can be expected in version 3.8. (ugh)
Now what I would like to ask is there any tool or plugin for GIMP that can transform my selections? Or is there any open source image editor that can do it.
I'm not an artist and just for this I have to use Photoshop. For me PS is an overkill for just cutting up an image.
How would you put other images inside of someone's eyes. Kind of like Photo Manipulations really.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 750 gif scanned images of maps. The problem is that I need to turn a border of 75 pixels right round each image either black or white. The image has to stay the same the same size, just the first 75 pixels all around have to be either black or white.
So how do I:
A make the border black or white?
B automate it so I don't have to do them all by hand?
I want to become really good at it, but don't know where to start! Everytime i try something, i try to blend different parts together via cut and paste. I try to smooth it in to make it look like the original photo, and no matter what strategy i use (Smudge tool, pencil tool and manually put in the colors, etc.) the area turns out rough or too blurry?

Back in Photoshop CS3 (I skipped from CS3 to CS6, so no idea if you could do this in any other versions) if you CTRL clicked on a vector path between two anchor points, you could change the 'guidelines' extending from the anchor point either side of the line, and it would keep the lines at the same angle. However in CS6, when you do this it changes the angle of both of the lines. Is there a way to do it as it was done in CS3 ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen we create a manifold assembly we like to itemize each part individually. Meaning that if we have 5 valves that are the same, we show those as 5 separate items on the BOM. This makes for easier troubleshooting with a customer over the phone. Unfortunately there appears to be no way to manage this natively within Inventor, so we have to edit the BOM manually which defeats the whole idea of automated BOMs. I was hoping some code could come to the rescue. One thought I had was to export the BOM to excel and then have some automation within excel to re-number and sort the BOM, once complete import it back into Inventor in a table.

I don’t think the image has been manipulated, however I’d like to be able to reproduce this effect, how I might go about reproducing this effect?
I want to create a series of photomanipulated images that I would title "Be Extraordinary." Basically, I want every picture to be a picture of me doing some sort of extraordinary thing, leaning more towards sci-fi stuff. I already have an idea for one of me wielding a lightsaber, but after that, I've run out of ideas for anything I know how to do in Photoshop. I had an idea for me creating some sort of energy shield, but I simply don't know how to really create that effect in Photoshop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAlthough many of these look like they are made in Maya or 3DS they are in fact real people. This is a 2 part question, first is where does one find larger format high res backgrounds like those in the links below and most importantly how can I make my subjects look like they are on a poster.
If anyone knows how this is done that would be great! I am at a loss! What programs were likely used?
Trying to put dimensions on a 3D object but having absolutely no control of the plane on which they are placed.
How would it possible to change the setting that decides of the location of dimensions: I use 2002 version of Autocad.
I just upgraded to a new computer setup and installed Photoshop CC and well..... I can't figure out how to manipulate paths like in CS6.
Â
On the left is a what path manipulation with anchor points looks like in CS6 on my old slow iMac, and on the right is the new CC with direction selection on, but instead I can't manipulate paths. How can I get it to work like CS6? Also, I know about the isolating layers thing, but that still doesn't let me manipulate certain anchor points.
Â
why Command + . isn't allowed in CC as a hotkey?
What's the best way to create a poster like this on Photoshop CS6? Link: [URL] ........

Are there some installations that I have to make, to have the possibility to move the picture on the surface?(I have tried to move the in the Text manipulator and in the "Darstellungs-Browser" for the Textures)
