Each time I try to do this, it changes the whole picture to white instead of just the background. How I can keep the foreground without losing it, and change the background color.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have chosen to use the eraser with fuzzy edge to remove the background from a dog subject. I created an Alpha channel and made a copy of the original image as suggested in the tute. When I begin to erase it works for a few stroke then stops erasing. By trial and error I found that If I select back and forth between the original and the copy it will erase a little on each but this seems to be an irregular way of doing the job and this is not what the tutorials show. What I erase shows up on both the original and the copy, that is they compound the erasing. Should this occur? Why can't I complete the erasing on just one image. While it does achieve the removal of the background I feel I am doing something wrong.

I have an image of clouds against (multi)blue sky. And i would like to remove the blue sky, and show just the clouds. I clicked on Eraser, then selected a brush.

I have 2 layers, the first is the background layer. Then 2nd layer has a picutre that I have used the ellipse tool on. My question is how can I use the eraser tool on everything outside of the ellipse tool? I can only use it inside.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my Wacom tablet. The stylus tool works fine (gradients, pen, paint) except for the erase tool - it won't erase to full transparency when I select the erase tool then drag my stylus. This is weird, since the actual eraser end of the stylus works fine: I just hate using that end of the tool, and much prefer using the stylus' pointed end to do all my work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Wacom Intuos2 tablet with GIMP 2.6.12, and it works fine except as the subject says, the eraser works like a brush. In Photoshop, I don't recall exactly what it does, but I believe switching to the eraser (meaning flipping the pen over to the "eraser" side" switches from the foreground color to the background color, so that it effectively works like an eraser.
How can I do that, or something similar, in GIMP? I've searched everywhere and most of the posts have to do with getting the tablet recognized (check) and implementing pressure (check).

I tried doing it through Magic wand but it did not work. Or is it possible I change the background of the pics like make it white?
I have some logos which all have a white background. I want to remove this white background to leave it transparent. So far I've managed to remove it but it hasn't been very clean as I've had to do it with brushes and lassos and havent had the effect I want.
I want a clean edge but these all leave grey pixels that blended from the black edge into the white background or just remove the black completely.
I'm looking for a reasonably quick way to do this, as I have 16 logos to get through and not too long to do it in.
I have a picture of a toy, I want to lift the toy off the background and leave only white space around it.
Here's what I've accomplished so far:
Created new layer Used the rounded rectangle to isolate the toy inverted the image used the magic wand to crop areas that had to go cropped as close to the toy as possible. Now I have the image but it's on this ugly, bits and pieces left over square.
What I'd like to know is: will making the background transparent fix it?
I'm still playing with it and saw a tutorial on transparency, but each time I attempt to do it - the entire image disappears.
I have forgotten how to wipeout the hatching in back of text!

When I use the knife tool on an shapeit leaves a gap where I slice. First I thought it was just an illusion in the program but it stays even after I've exported the image (both by "save as" in illustrator and "export" in inDesign). I've been careful not to move the shapeafter I used the tool so I don't think that should be a reason.
I've tried on different types of shapes like normal circles and more complex shapes. I've also attempted to start a new file from scratch but with the same result What could the reason be? Is there a setting I should be aware of?
This is what I see in Illustrator:
And this is what the image looks like when saved as pdf (in illustrator):
It also looks the same if I place it in inDesign and then export to pdf.
EDIT: I don't know if it is important but the size of the shape is about an A4 or there about.
When making a webpage and then using Filters > Web > Slice, is there any easy way to leave space for adsense code or any code at all for that matter. I have tried opening the generated HTML file in Kompozer, but every time I try to add code to the cells, it messes up the entire page's layout.

View 8 Replies View Relatedi switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties
I'm trying to figure out the Background Eraser tool. I understand that I am supposed to trace around the subject of interest without allowing the centre mark to touch the subject. I notice that it draws a puffy white border around the subject. Then what? What have I done? I don't see a new layer, new channel, or selection. I am able to "paste", which creates a new layer. This new layer shows my selection with the background painted white.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to use it, a box appears, saying: background eraser could not be used, because the target channels do not cover the composite.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCheck out the two pics I have added. I did this from Solidworks. Sometimes when dimensioning you have a series of holes that are close together like the ones shown below. What I would like to do is to drag the jog so that the dimension line does not run thru the other hole and the text stays where you put it. I would like to be able to do this without exploding it or going thru some sort of hoops to make it happens. Is this possible in Autocad? I thought that in a earlier version of Autocad you were able to do it but I am not sure.

Why might the Background Eraser tool have stopped working? The settings I am currently using are Sampling: Once; Limits: Discontiguous; Tolerance: 100%; Protect Foreground Color: checked.
I wanted to remove a head and shoulders photo portrait from a background, and to do so, I generally followed the instructions on a YouTube video tutorial by Ali Baba entitled How to Remove Background Around Lots of Hair Photoshop;
which showed to use the eraser tool.
My background was an off white color, with a shadow from the subject on some of it. I made a layer on top of the photo and filled it with red (instead of the dark blue in the video, so it would contrast more with the black hair of my subject); then I copied the photo into a layer and put it on top of the red (unlike the video where he erased off the original.) Then I erased away the background. Then I took the steps shown to work around the hair. At that time, the background was still not closely erased around the ears and shoulders and I put the job away for a while.
When I came back, I used the Quick Selection to select the area from the entire right side that wasn't erased yet. But I didn't know how to erase the selection, so I went back to the Background eraser and erased the rest of the right side away. Then I deleted the selection.
For some reason, however, I am not able to erase any more on the left side, and I am stymied as to why not.
First it stops pasting anything except the first thing copied when Gimp opens, and now this. When I try to search for a font or type in text in the text tool in Gimp 2.8, it just jumps to random other tools instead of typing.
Why can't this program ever seem to work FULLY?
I scaned an iron on pattern. Now I want to remove the background color which is white. I thought I could use the magic eraser tool. It does a good job for most of the project, but I have to click on every small area. The reason that I want to do this is to being able to print on any color card stock. Is there another way of doing this.
