AutoCAD Inventor :: Texture Manipulators - XY Manipulation

Jul 9, 2012

I have a Problem with the Texture Manipulators. I made a new Textur from a Picture that I had, then I wanted to roatate and position the picture on the 2D Surface sheet metall, that I constructed in 3D.

I cant move the Picture in x or y-direction. I can rotate it and scale it but not wove it in x-y direction.

Are there some installations that I have to make, to have the possibility to move the picture on the surface?(I have tried to move the in the Text manipulator and in the "Darstellungs-Browser" for the Textures)

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic BOM Manipulation

Nov 30, 2012

When we create a manifold assembly we like to itemize each part individually. Meaning that if we have 5 valves that are the same, we show those as 5 separate items on the BOM. This makes for easier troubleshooting with a customer over the phone. Unfortunately there appears to be no way to manage this natively within Inventor, so we have to edit the BOM manually which defeats the whole idea of automated BOMs. I was hoping some code could come to the rescue. One thought I had was to export the BOM to excel and then have some automation within excel to re-number and sort the BOM, once complete import it back into Inventor in a table.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Twisted Wire Texture

Sep 10, 2013

I've modeled a "twisted-in wire brush" and I'm getting graphic/model glitches. Every now and then when I zoom in on the model it becomes an abstract mess. It has something to do with the twisted wire portion of my model. It's just a simple coil (sketch: 2 circles twisted downward) feature but Inventor keeps choking.

Any twisted wire texture that perhaps I could try. I'm not quite sure how to make it myself. Plus, Inventor 2014's entire Material/Appearance library is a real dog's breakfast. What used to be be rather simple for me has become a challenge.

AutoCAD .NET :: Dynamic Block Manipulation After Changing UCS

May 28, 2013

The dynamic position and angle parameters within the inserted blocks appear to be based on the UCS at the time of insertion and relative to the basepoint of the block. These positions don’t change if the UCS is changed or block is rotated.

I can’t work out how to modify the position parameters if the UCS is not the same as that used when the block was inserted. How I access these positions after changing the UCS?

I’ve tried looking at the ECS of the block reference but I’m not sure if that’s what I need to be using.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Change Texture Of Hatched Area On IDW

Jan 29, 2013

The part I am detailing is a cast iron part, and I have appropriately changed the material appearance to match. On the IDW, a section view shows in the hatched area the same material as the non-hatched area. BUT, as we know, when we cut a cast iron part in half, the cut section of the part looks different then the outside.

Is there a way I can change the material appearance of the sectioned area of the part on the IDW, so it appears more obvious that it's a cut section?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Texture Purge To A Style As Bump

Jan 14, 2011

I was messing around with style editing, and added a texture map to a style as a bump.  The bitmap I selected, however, was on my hard drive, not in the project search path.  Now that I would like to check this part into the vault, I get the attached error message.  I have since tried deleting, copying, moving the file from that hard drive to a legitimate search library.... removed it from every style it was used in, purged all styles, basically deleted it from every place I can find it, including going through the model tree and checking each individual feature (over 50!) to try to find it.  It is still in the file somewhere, and I can't seem to figure out where.  Is there no way to find and purge this offending bitmap?

I have an imported Solidworks file that shows exactly what I need. I do not have access to the author of the Solidworks part so I don't know how they did it. Its part of a pistol grip handle.

Keep in mind that emboss does not support organic surfaces, only cylindrical or planar.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Setting Texture In Render Style Of A Part

Oct 29, 2012

I have got troubles with textures in the new Inventor 2013. When I try to programmatically change a texture in a render style of a part (no matter, whether I use an existing render style or create a new one), when I set the texture file name, Inventor throws an exception "Bad argument". In Inventor 2012, it worked. How textures should be set in the new Inventor?

Sample

PartDocument partDoc = ... some initialization
RenderStyle newRenderStyle = partDoc.RenderStyles.Add("newRenderStyle");
newRenderStyle.TextureFilename = newTexFilename;   //this throws an exception bad format, even if the texture is in the Inventor textures directory
partDoc.ActiveRenderStyle = newRenderStyle;

AutoCAD 2013 :: Donut Manipulation And Grid Snap Settings

Jun 28, 2013

I have a drawing of Clock Face here (see the picture below), which requires donut for the outer circle. My first question is, looking at the picture, what would be the limits, grid, and snap settings? I made an attempt with the limits (0',0') (12',9'), with Grid =0'-0 1/2", and Snap = 0'-0 1/4", but it didn't work out well. I tried to make the Snap 0'-0 1/32" but it couldn't, neither 0'-0 1/16", nor 0'-0 1/8". Why can't I set the Snap to 0'-0 1/32"?

Next, I would like to know how the outer circle could be constructed with donut. The small inner circle below it is of 1'-11" + 1" + 1" in diameter, that is, 2'-1". If then the Donut (as shown) is to be of 24" inside x 1" thick, the 2'-1" DIA circle would disappear within the thickness of the Donut, leaving no gap between them both. How could this be drawn,

AutoCAD Inventor :: Actual Physical Texture (not Simulated Appearance Textures)

Oct 4, 2012

Inventor seems to do lots to allow for simulated appearance textures.   However, how does one use actual physical textures, e.g. for a plastic part?    I need one surface of the plastic part to be very rough/bumpy, another to be slightly rough/bumpy, and another to remain smooth/untouched.

Let me be forthright and say I have no background here in textures/plastics/molds etc.,

AutoCAD Inventor :: Texture Scaling - Expanded Metal Not Viewable Until Zoomed In

Nov 26, 2012

I have a simple frame made of a 1/2 rod and have inserted a textured appearance of expanded metal. It is a guard.

I am not sure if the way i inserted the texture is correct, but it currently is scaled down to small. Have to scroll in lots to actually see the expanded metal.

Is there a better way to apply the texture than creating a surface? How can I adjust the scale of the texture?

Maybe applying a texture is not the best way to show that this guard is to have a section of expanded metal that will fit inside the 16x24 in guard? a note is not ideal in the drawing, but I suppose it is better than making an actual model of the expanded metal.

Part is attached below. Inventor 2013 Pro.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Stainless Steel Sheet - Rotate Texture Through 90 Degrees

Aug 7, 2013

We use a lot of #4 finish Stainless steel sheet.

I have automated the changing of the active renderstyle to "Polished Brushed" to approximate this, but usually orientation is important. For instance, the texture will be around tube, and on large sheets, we want to keep all the sections orientated one specific direction.

I'd like to be able to easily rotate the texture thru 90 degrees (and possibly, a user selectable angle).

I'd prefer not to have to manually select a face first, either.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Standard Black Color In Realistic Mode Shows Texture

Dec 14, 2011

The standard black color in Inventor appears as if it has a subtle texture when I use Realistic shading mode (see image). But when I edit the style there is no Use texture Image or Bump / file associated with it. I tried Realistic Appearance checked on & off in edit dialog & it makes no difference.

I want to represent a flat anodized black color for some marketing images. We have a lot of parts that use the standard black color & I really don't want to spend the time to change them all to a new custom black color (without a texture).

How can I make the standard black not have a texture in realistic & rendered modes?
