AutoCAD Inventor :: Printing White Wires

May 19, 2009

I am working in Inventor Professional 2008, using the harness package. I have a few white wires in the model I am trying to print off as a nailboard and in a routing diagram. The problem is simply that white wires do not print well on white paper. I can print pdfs using "print all colors as black" but then all greyed out components print poorly. Is there a way to print an outline on these wires, for example?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Making Electrical Wires Between Connectors?

I have 2 pipes with connectors on each end...How do i make a realistic shape wire to go from each connector....there will be a wire between a connector on 1 end of the pipe and it goes to a connector on the end of the other pipe....would this be constructed in the assembly and saved as a part to a folder....also can the wire be made as a part and then placed in the assembly...no pipe and run as would prefer to either make as a part or create in the assembly and save as a part

AutoCAD Inventor :: Wires Are Not Displayed As Rendered After Created With Harness And Wire

Nov 13, 2013

After I create a wire it will not be displayed as a rendered wire. There is no indication of error in the wire (to sharp angle) and this is also happens for a straight wires with no turns.

I have made multiple revisions of an assembly and in older reviosions I can make the wires and they are shown as rendered. But in the latest revision it is not possible. In a older revision I had a harness assembly than deleted it could this have any affect?

Also is there any setting that hides rendered wires that I might have turned on accidently?I have a student licence and the assembly has about 700 parts if that makes any difference.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Cable And Harness - Root Multiple Wires Along Same Path

Jul 30, 2013

Is there a relatively easy way to root multiple wires along the same path, with a predefined distance between them so there's no interference between them? Something similar to the attached picture... or packed even closer together.

I got in a hole lot of trouble to get the result from the picture and I was hoping that there is an easier way... a workaround... something.

Using segments is not an option (only maybe as an intermediary step) but in the end I have to have all the wires as separate entities.

GIMP :: Transparent Background - How To Overlay Gritty Texture Layer On Shaped Image Only

Mar 27, 2013

With Gimp 2.8 (Mac) I have made a 3D text with a YouTube tutorial. It looks like the Pulp Fiction logo. [URL]...........

How do I overlay a grungy texture, so the letters look 'older'?I tried making the texture image the top layer in the list on the right and then this: right click -> layer -> transparency -> color to alpha. But then, the 'see-through' texture covers the entire square transparent background! Not just the letters...So, how do I add a transparent texture layer over a shaped image that has a transparent background?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Converting 3D Sketch To 2D Sketch From IGS File Using Wires?

Aug 1, 2011

First we imported an ".igs" file to inventor, which produced "wires".  Then by promoting the wires it produced a 3-d sketch.

The model is in one plane and 2-D, and we are trying to use Ansys 2-D analysis, but in-order to do so it needs to be in a 2-D sketch.

The model is too large to be redrawn on a 2-D plane, how to convert it to a 2-D sketch

AutoCad 2D :: Link Shift / Wires Expand As Object Moves

May 17, 2012

whenever I am moving an inverter or module shape around, I always have to either shift those wires or extend them to some extent.

I was wondering, like Google SketchUp, can AutoCAD have a follow extension mechanism for a fix point with an fix object?

I would love so that only one wires extends. So I am just looking at a linear expansion for now. I am not looking for complex 3D expansion... I just want 90° lines to extend:

AutoCAD Inventor :: Insert A File As Overlay Into Factory

Aug 24, 2012

I am trying to insert a AutoCad file as a Overlay into Factory.

The problem I'm having is the text in the Autocad file scales up and becomes a thick font.....I can't see or use the geometry under the text (text becomes a thick wall above with the geometry below.

The text seems to have a life of it's own..otherwise the geometry is fine. I know there are layer settings that can be turned on/off within factory.

I created a new file and stripped out the text from the AutoCad file to be able to use in Factory.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Twisted Wire Texture

Sep 10, 2013

I've modeled a "twisted-in wire brush" and I'm getting graphic/model glitches. Every now and then when I zoom in on the model it becomes an abstract mess. It has something to do with the twisted wire portion of my model. It's just a simple coil (sketch: 2 circles twisted downward) feature but Inventor keeps choking.

Any twisted wire texture that perhaps I could try. I'm not quite sure how to make it myself. Plus, Inventor 2014's entire Material/Appearance library is a real dog's breakfast. What used to be be rather simple for me has become a challenge.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Change Texture Of Hatched Area On IDW

Jan 29, 2013

The part I am detailing is a cast iron part, and I have appropriately changed the material appearance to match. On the IDW, a section view shows in the hatched area the same material as the non-hatched area. BUT, as we know, when we cut a cast iron part in half, the cut section of the part looks different then the outside.

Is there a way I can change the material appearance of the sectioned area of the part on the IDW, so it appears more obvious that it's a cut section?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Texture Purge To A Style As Bump

Jan 14, 2011

I was messing around with style editing, and added a texture map to a style as a bump.  The bitmap I selected, however, was on my hard drive, not in the project search path.  Now that I would like to check this part into the vault, I get the attached error message.  I have since tried deleting, copying, moving the file from that hard drive to a legitimate search library.... removed it from every style it was used in, purged all styles, basically deleted it from every place I can find it, including going through the model tree and checking each individual feature (over 50!) to try to find it.  It is still in the file somewhere, and I can't seem to figure out where.  Is there no way to find and purge this offending bitmap?
