Below is an image I am trying to create using illustrator cs3, the wires are all a shiny copper gradient. I have tried so many different ways to do the transition from the circle to the straight wire and I cannot find any that really work.
View 25 RepliesI did some battery wraps for a company and they are being printed in China. The background is the default cmyk gradient "copper" and one is "silver" in AI. They are asking me to provide the Pantone or CMYK color code for these colors. Since they are a gradient I am not sure what to tell them.Â

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a proprietary project that has lettering with a white rectangle overlaid in Screen mode at about 35% to convey the idea of a metal surface to the viewer (similar to how the apps launch buttons in iOS have that glossy sheen). My question to you all is, when I have worked on the design in Illustrator and pulled it into AE the white box in Screen mode is visible and affects the layers below.

Now, I thought there was a way to isolate blending modes to groups or layers, so that anything outside of that group/layer would not be affected. Is this correct? My workaround at the moment is to boole the box so that the screening geometry fits to the lettering, — an arduous process. Attached is an example of the effect I am going for. Ideally I'd like to keep my screening box whole so that I can play with the angle of the faked reflection without having to go through the boole process again.
I want to create a background for a website wich has a worn out copper plated look (oil stains, scratches, dirt ect..) as shown on the picture below (also attached)

Noticed the images in the reflection from polished copper? Â In my current model, polished copper is reflecting the image of what looks to be a parking lot, as I see the back end of 3 different cars, ones white and the other two are grey I think. Â No real issue, just noticed this reflection, looks like the developers were having a little bit of fun on this one, or is there a place this reflection can be changed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'd like to make an animation of a thin copper wire being wound onto a pulley. Is this possible in Inventor? I'm not sure Inventor will allow the thin wire to be bent. I can imagine other ways to make the animation, but I'd much rather have the wire bend around the pulley as the pulley rotates.

I am specifically concerned about the inability to drag global color swatches from the color panel to Gradient stops in the Gradient Panel. I use this method to update a gradient color because I find it MUCH faster than option-dragging to duplicate a stop color, then deleting the unused stop. Since I do this constantly, I find using CS6 very tedious.

I have a few white wires in the model I am trying to print off as a nailboard and in a routing diagram. The problem is simply that white wires do not print well on white paper. I can print pdfs using "print all colors as black" but then all greyed out components print poorly.Is there a way to print an outline on these wires, for example?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking to create an animation of a box being lowered through an opening into a cylindrical vessel. The box is held/manipulated by three wires (one each side that each branch/split into pairs, and a single central wire) from hoists on beams above. There are connectors between the wires/hoists.
There are points where a couple of wires are taught and the other is loose. I also need to add a flexible rubber pipe to the box and hang this over the opening and out of the vessel.
To animate this properly should I be looking at kinematics (a topic I have not looked at yet) rather than just key framing?
How do I animate the wires stretching (reeling out from the hoists)?
why some of the wires are not showing up in my idw? The segments are there but the wires are a "no show"..

i have a wires graphic ready to go but i have photoshop 7 whereas the tutorial is aimed at 5.5. i cant seem to get this effect to work. for instance in step 2 Dan says:
Image>Adjust>Levels,
Image>Adjust>Invert
whenever I am moving an inverter or module shape around, I always have to either shift those wires or extend them to some extent.
I was wondering, like Google SketchUp, can AutoCAD have a follow extension mechanism for a fix point with an fix object?
I would love so that only one wires extends. So I am just looking at a linear expansion for now. I am not looking for complex 3D expansion... I just want 90° lines to extend:

After I create a wire it will not be displayed as a rendered wire. There is no indication of error in the wire (to sharp angle) and this is also happens for a straight wires with no turns.
I have made multiple revisions of an assembly and in older reviosions I can make the wires and they are shown as rendered. But in the latest revision it is not possible. In a older revision I had a harness assembly than deleted it could this have any affect?
Also is there any setting that hides rendered wires that I might have turned on accidently?I have a student licence and the assembly has about 700 parts if that makes any difference.
Is there a relatively easy way to root multiple wires along the same path, with a predefined distance between them so there's no interference between them? Something similar to the attached picture... or packed even closer together.
I got in a hole lot of trouble to get the result from the picture and I was hoping that there is an easier way... a workaround... something.
Using segments is not an option (only maybe as an intermediary step) but in the end I have to have all the wires as separate entities.
Seems like Inventor ignores wires and cables when calculating mass of the whole assy.

At 4:35 into it, the author begins creating the shiny parts of the diamonds by drawing a path, copying it and then rotating the copy ninety degrees.

I'm having trouble just creating that first path the way it's done in the tutorial. First, it says to choose a brush of 17, make sure it's white, then switch to the pen tool and draw a straight white line. However, mine doesn't look like that, how it splays outs. I just get a straight white line. Then, when I try to tranform the copy by rotating it 90 degrees I get an error message saying "Could not rotate because the initial bounding rectangle is empty."
