AutoCAD Inventor :: Copy Color With Custom Texture To Part?
Nov 4, 2011I try to copy a color with a custom texture to a part. In my data source I use a scale for the image between 0,1 and 1. (10-100%). On my form I have a slider to change the scale between this range.
But in the styles editor it is possible to go to 1000%. Is that also possible in the API?

Oct 29, 2012I have got troubles with textures in the new Inventor 2013. When I try to programmatically change a texture in a render style of a part (no matter, whether I use an existing render style or create a new one), when I set the texture file name, Inventor throws an exception "Bad argument". In Inventor 2012, it worked. How textures should be set in the new Inventor?

Mar 29, 2012I have a part that has protrusions. When i mate that part up to another part that second part needs to have cutouts/holes to receive those protrusions.
i mainly use it in sheetmetal parts. and use the rectangular protrusions on de contour to mate up with corresponding cutouts in the other sheet. this works with positioning and also makes for a nice weld spot/area.
But also for making holes to accommodate a mold pin used in custom punch dies. I want the intervening part to receive a corresponding (propperly tolleranced) hole automatically. Much like a bolted connection does.
same for parts like circlips. i want them to automatically generate the seat in the part it's mated to. Rather than using the axle generator.
Ofcourse one can place the parts and do an in assembly interpart projection and go from there, but i want the part to generate the (predifined) modification to the other part. It would save time and also reduces problems as the parts are moved about or even removed.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Single Surface Of Part Transparent So Inside Of Part Is Visible?
Mar 11, 2013I'm modeling a temperature gauge and would like to have glass over the gauge so the inside is visible. I can easily do this with an assembly, but I'm wanting to do this with a single part. I tried to derive a new part from the assembly, but the transparent part turns solid so nothing inside is visible. Is it possible to do this?
I've include pictures of what I want and what I end up with.

Apr 1, 2013I have created the part based on piece of standard angle taken from library. Now I want to make a mirrored copy of this part by Component-Mirror.
Inventor does not let me do it with standard part.
The question is: How I can transform a standard part to normal one, I mean I could get rid of belonging to standard part? Making a copy does not work. The only way is to derive and mirror this part but I wish there could be easy way.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Make Surface Cut On Part
Apr 5, 2012I'm trying to make a surface cut on my part. The part is a round cylindrical shaped cap with a surface geometry going through the center. I want to make that surface geometry remove some of the cylindrical part by about half the wall thickness.
See the attachment of the picture "cap" for a picture with the surfaces I'm speaking about. The orange features are surfaces and the grey feature is just a solid cylinder that I want to cut. The vertical, cylindrical surface in orange is where I want the grey cylinder to be cut along the curved orange surface. Only on the grey area outside of the orange cylindrical surface is to be cut while leaving everything grey on the inside area of the cylindrical surface will remain.
The picture titled "ideal cap" is the look that I'm going for on the picture titled "cap" which I'm trying to perform this cut on. The picture titled "ideal cap" was made using Pro/E and I'm trying to mimic the same thing in Inventor. How I can do this?

Jan 11, 2012A workflow that works great for me is to create parts (Make Part command) from a multibody solid. The dialog window presents one with an option to choose other Templates (I have a few), BUT I have to choose the template I want to use EACH time I create a part. That is, Inventor doesn't automatically remember the last Template I chose, it defaults to the Standard.ipt or Standard.iam.
Is it possible to set it so that Inventor remembers what Template I chose the last time so that I don't have to choose it every time I Make Part?

Dec 1, 2012When I create part .ipt directly in assembly .iam, I can make it adaptive. I'm doing the projection of geometry. Detail goes adaptive. Geometry appears as a link.
But if I put in the assembly finished parts or remove part created in the assembly, and then insert it back, the adaptability of parts did not get to create. Then the projection geometry inserts usual nonadaptive geometry without reference.
Can I make a finished part adaptive, without creating a component at the place in this assembly?

I decided to add a few "Solid Bodies" to my original part file "PLY-AY-134-A MAKE COMPONENT.ipt". Is there a way to add these to the original "Make Components" command to add it to the allready created .iam file, "PLY-AY-134-A.iam"?

Aug 14, 2013Is there a way to have inventor make each part in an assembly have a different color? I like to work in assemblies like this because it is easier to tell the parts from each other. It's just time-consuming to go through and change everything if the assembly was designed with realistic colors. I am thinking there might be a macro for this, but I don't have much experience with macros so idk.
(extra brownie points if the method has the capability of reverting back to realistic colors)

May 2, 2013I had a copy of Inventor 2013; It worked well up untilrecently. I moved some folders on my hard drive, and the program no longer could find the files. I went into options and changed the pathway for any prompt I saw had the former location. Next the part files I am working on are said to be missing. Something about the project location. I tried adding the files through managing the project found in options. Now Inventor says it is unable to open or even recognize the part files saved. I`m in assembly and I push a create button. Then I give it a name and OK. Then I push a plane where I want to make the part. New sketch comes but no sketch panel. I have to push right button from mouse and click finish sketch. Then when I go edit sketch the sketch panel comes like it suppose it to be.
