AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Part From Split

View 8 RepliesI have a part I have drawn in inventor. It is saved as an ".ipt" file.
I would like to split this part into two seperate Ipt files so i can assemble it a different way.
For example,
the part i wish to design is an alternate keying of the one i just drew-
meaning that a solid of the part is rotated 60 degrees in this case.
Is it possible to do this with inventor commands?
I am wondering how many times you can use split command on one part?
I have never used split command before.
if you look at the image below, i would like to split this into 4 pieces, and looking for the quickest and the way that makes the most sense way to do it.
I have a sheet metal part drawn up that I can't manufacture as modeled. The solution is to convert it from a two bend part into two single bend parts that will then be welded together. (I have an iLogic configurator that spit it out or else I would have drawn it right in the first place) Normally I would split it into two solids and derive them into two parts, but because Inventor still doesn't support multi-body sheet metal (this is something I curse about daily, by the way...) I would have to convert it to a standard part first.
The problem here is, I have a ton of edits done to my flat pattern. I have an extruded tab that's needed for my press brake operator that later gets cut off, and I have a fairly complex sketch that I use to program my laser with etch lines for my welders to use. How I can accomplish converting this into right/left parts without having to redo my flat pattern edits?
I'm trying to split a part model for mold analysis. The complex cut line is along a variety of directions and axis. I'm using autodesk inventor 2014,
View 3 Replies View RelatedI separated to a part with the split tool now I want to reconnect the part together, how do I do that?
I tried offesseting the surfaces of each side of the part then combine them using the "stich tool", bu the spliting edge still remains between the solid.
I have a solid body but I need to make a part of it removable. I want to be able to lift it off and put it back on. The problem is that at the moment it is all one piece. So what I need to know how to do is remove just this one face from my solid, turn it into a seperate part so that I can create a lip on the solid for it to set on once it is reasymboled.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have made a sheet metal part in inventor (see image). I have made the part as it will be in the finished production state. The problem is that the part is impossible to bend from one single plate, so it has to be made from several plates and welded together.
What i want to do is to remove the four corner plates (denoted with red arrows in the image) and make a flat pattern for these separately.
The reason i made these corner plates in my model is to get the assembled part 100% correct. if i dont, inventor doesnt make the angles that i need between the flanges in the top.
Is there a way to split this part into multiple parts? I would like to split the part on the corners, leaving a small gap for welding.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor a while now, I've been trying to shell a split game controller that will create the bottom part of the casing. However, every time I try to shell, a problem occurs "Modelling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs".
I've tried to find the source of the problem through supressing features, and when it finally does shell, the casing creates another problem that will not allow me to loft to get the proper appearance.
The part i make is from solid model>The part needs to be in sheet metal. What steps do i use to make as sheet metal part and have option to flatten part.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a part that has protrusions. When i mate that part up to another part that second part needs to have cutouts/holes to receive those protrusions.
i mainly use it in sheetmetal parts. and use the rectangular protrusions on de contour to mate up with corresponding cutouts in the other sheet. this works with positioning and also makes for a nice weld spot/area.
But also for making holes to accommodate a mold pin used in custom punch dies. I want the intervening part to receive a corresponding (propperly tolleranced) hole automatically. Much like a bolted connection does.
same for parts like circlips. i want them to automatically generate the seat in the part it's mated to. Rather than using the axle generator.
Ofcourse one can place the parts and do an in assembly interpart projection and go from there, but i want the part to generate the (predifined) modification to the other part. It would save time and also reduces problems as the parts are moved about or even removed.
I'm modeling a temperature gauge and would like to have glass over the gauge so the inside is visible. I can easily do this with an assembly, but I'm wanting to do this with a single part. I tried to derive a new part from the assembly, but the transparent part turns solid so nothing inside is visible. Is it possible to do this?
I've include pictures of what I want and what I end up with.

I have created the part based on piece of standard angle taken from library. Now I want to make a mirrored copy of this part by Component-Mirror.
Inventor does not let me do it with standard part.
The question is: How I can transform a standard part to normal one, I mean I could get rid of belonging to standard part? Making a copy does not work. The only way is to derive and mirror this part but I wish there could be easy way.
I'm using Inventor 2013 and VB 2010 Express... I can find a part or sub from browser and open it seperately by below
Dim invDocs As AssemblyDocument
invDocs = Form1.inv_App.ActiveDocument
Dim invDocument As Document
Dim Sayac As Integer
Dim oRefDocs As DocumentsEnumerator
oRefDocs = invDocs.AllReferencedDocuments
Dim invDocument2 As Documents
invDocument2 = Form1.inv_App.Documents
For Each invDocument In oRefDocs
If Form1.BaseFilename(invDocument.FullDocumentName).ToUpper = TextAranan.Text Then invDocument2.Open(invDocument.FullDocumentName, True)
Sayac += 1
Next
But I need to make the part selected on the browser? I want to focus (highlight) on the part and reposition the browser tree?
I have an assembly with several analogical parts and they have sketches with project geometry inside this assembly ("Adaptive" function works good, look pic "Works").
Unfotrunately, one part of parts doesnt work perfectly ("Adaptive" function is not active, look pic "Doesnt work"),
I'm trying to make a solid part from the attached file. I tried sculpting the part but only the sides of the bracket become solids.
View 3 Replies View Related1) How Can I turn on 'Adaptive' option on the menu shown in attached picture for layout part? (in assembly invironment)
2) Which process or fault leads to that problem?
I'm trying to make a surface cut on my part. The part is a round cylindrical shaped cap with a surface geometry going through the center. I want to make that surface geometry remove some of the cylindrical part by about half the wall thickness.
See the attachment of the picture "cap" for a picture with the surfaces I'm speaking about. The orange features are surfaces and the grey feature is just a solid cylinder that I want to cut. The vertical, cylindrical surface in orange is where I want the grey cylinder to be cut along the curved orange surface. Only on the grey area outside of the orange cylindrical surface is to be cut while leaving everything grey on the inside area of the cylindrical surface will remain.
The picture titled "ideal cap" is the look that I'm going for on the picture titled "cap" which I'm trying to perform this cut on. The picture titled "ideal cap" was made using Pro/E and I'm trying to mimic the same thing in Inventor. How I can do this?
A workflow that works great for me is to create parts (Make Part command) from a multibody solid. The dialog window presents one with an option to choose other Templates (I have a few), BUT I have to choose the template I want to use EACH time I create a part. That is, Inventor doesn't automatically remember the last Template I chose, it defaults to the Standard.ipt or Standard.iam.
Is it possible to set it so that Inventor remembers what Template I chose the last time so that I don't have to choose it every time I Make Part?
How can I make a feature transparent in a single part? Like one extrusion in a part?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi've attached my model - basically I want to remove the fish shaped component from a solid block so it can be mirrored and CNC milled from an aluminium block to make a prototype fishing lure (Ignore the undercut on the tail).
I've looked at the online videos but the steps taken don't work on my model. I made the lure as a whole and split it in 2 - is this the problem?
I created this part with solid modelling......can / how this be made with sheet metal tools.....i do not use sheet metal tools but plan to.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I create part .ipt directly in assembly .iam, I can make it adaptive. I'm doing the projection of geometry. Detail goes adaptive. Geometry appears as a link.
But if I put in the assembly finished parts or remove part created in the assembly, and then insert it back, the adaptability of parts did not get to create. Then the projection geometry inserts usual nonadaptive geometry without reference.
Can I make a finished part adaptive, without creating a component at the place in this assembly?
I have a part file "PLY-AY-134-A MAKE COMPONENT.ipt" that I created multiple "Solid Bodies" in and I used the "Make Components" command to create the individual part files and and assembly "PLY-AY-134-A.iam". I decided to add a few "Solid Bodies" to my original part file "PLY-AY-134-A MAKE COMPONENT.ipt". Is there a way to add these to the original "Make Components" command to add it to the allready created .iam file, "PLY-AY-134-A.iam"?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have inventor make each part in an assembly have a different color? I like to work in assemblies like this because it is easier to tell the parts from each other. It's just time-consuming to go through and change everything if the assembly was designed with realistic colors. I am thinking there might be a macro for this, but I don't have much experience with macros so idk.
(extra brownie points if the method has the capability of reverting back to realistic colors)

How Can I Make Flat Pattern From A Part Of Cylinder ? (2013 Version)
Like Attached Image.
I have a part number that i want to defined in custom properties.
Then would it be possible to call it out in Ilogic? that way in any drawing doesn't matter where the part number will always be the same for that part when i balloon and the same in the BOM.
So i draw a body (or assembly) and i would like to invert what i draw ( tubing for fluid flow) to be hollow and make the hollow part solid, is there any way that i could do that?
