AutoCAD Inventor :: Start New Doc Or Open File - Cannot Read Texture Image
Nov 28, 2010
When I start a new document or open a file in Inventor, I get a pop up saying: "Cannot read texture image C:UseerspublicDocumentsAutodeskInventor 2011TexturesChrome.dds" I moved the whole Autodesk file and changed all paths under settings>files in Inventor. The new path to Chrome.dds is C:UsersKajDocumentsAutodeskInventor 2011TexturesChrome.dds
I have Inventor 2014 installed. My O/S is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The program has been working fine until recently. Now, I keep getting "cannot read texture image". I read all the solutions I found in the discussion group but, I cannot figure out how to resolve the problem with the solutions given. Should I uninstall and reinstall the program. All the files were opening as they should but then out of the blue I started getting this message for every file I tried to open.
I'm trying to start Excel and show the results of some BOM items I have written to a file like item number, part number and description. The task is to find components in an assembly that have a part number longer then 39 characters, due to ERP limitations.
What I´m doing is cycling through all BOM (structured) items on first level and check if the part number is longer then 39 characters.
I write these item number, part number, description to an Excel file (temp.xlsx), so the user sees which Components he has to check for the Part Number (make it shorter). I figured it would be best to do that with an excel file, so the user can save the results to a new file or just check it.
Values will be erased from the temporary excel file afterwards. Here I can't figure out how to start the excel application and open the file in an actual application window if possible.
how to list the results with plain iLogic that would do it too or some other solution to list a snapshot from the BOM.I guess there is no way to add your custom BOMViews ?
When I first installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 I was unable to run Photoshop or Bridge CS6. Photoshop would give me an error about "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked. If I ran either of these programs as an administrator they would run without issue, this led me to believe that there was a permission issue somewhere. After some digging I found out the both Bridge and Photoshop try to create a temp file (similiar to Photoshop Temp2777223910092) on the c: drive of the computer. In my case the user that I was logged in with did not have access to write to the root of the C: drive. Note that you run the program as the administrator and change the scratch disk location as that changes the preference for the administrator user and not the user that you are currently logged in as.
I first had to give the user that I was logged on with write permissions to the root of the C: drive. Next try and run Photoshop, you will get an error another error about the scratch disk and about and invalid or missing setting file. To correct this you need to have run Photoshop as an administrator, next you can go to Users AdminAppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings and copy Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs and/or Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs to Users<your logged in username>AppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6.Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings.
I have a couple of SAT files exported by my colleague. He is only familiar with and only works in AutoCAD 2008.
All I'm trying to do is convert them to IGES for our customer, but I can't even open them. I get the message "Unable to Read SAT File" in Inventor. I tried Fusion as well, it just crashes out after working for a few seconds. When I try to open the original dwg in AutoCAD 2013 I get a message that the file is corrupted and to run recovery on it. I tried doing so, but then the dwg comes in with no model geometry.
How to open these files or any other workflow? We're going to have serious issues down the road if we can't move data between AutoCAD and Inventor.
I am developing a web app ASP.NET MVC 3, which will read the properties files of Inventor (dwg, idw, ipt, iam). Read the properties of these files is by using objects Apprentice Server, which provides Autodesk Inventor View 2012. Connection objects is done through the library RxApprentice.tlb.
Code is shown below:
public ActionResult Index () { try
[Code].....
While debugging applications on Web-server - IIS Express 7.5 development environment Visual Studio 2010 application runs without errors. After publishing a Web application on IIS 7.0 the following error: "Unspecified error (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004005 (E_FAIL))».
A tried: change User Account Control Settings, and set permissions to configuration DCOM objects in Component Services - no results.
Is it possible to read the file properties Inventor of Web applications, and how to do it?
I am having problems with my drawing template, I can make changes no problem, but when I use the template to start a new idw file the changes are not in place.
For example; view preferences, I want to work in third angle, I have this selected on the template but each time I start a new idw I have to change it from 1st angle.
e.g. 2; sheet size, I changed it from text to a drawing property, but it doesn't change when I edit the sheet size.
I've some user-defined iProperties in my idw-file. As soon as I set the file to "read-only" (via explorer RMB->properties) these iProperties are not shown on the drawing sheet when i open the drawing. ow to abandon this effect?
I search a way in a Csharp program to read iproperties without open file in appentrice because it's time consumption. When we right-click on the file in the windows explorer, the iproperties come instantly.
if I open a drawing with DocumentManager.Open("drawing.dwg", false) and it is already open (or the user has no rights to write to it), the drawing is opened in READONLY mode without warning.
Is there way to check if DocumentManager.Open("drawing.dwg", false) will open the drawing normal or READONLY?
I have been searching for a macro to export the start and end point of a line coordinates to excel, but I can only find information on how to export 3D Points.
Is it possible to program a macro that allows me to export the start and end point of various lines in a sketch?
The objective of this is to connect an excel file which is updated when I create a line with it correspondent points, then i could not only import these x,y,z coordinates from excel to inventor but I whould be able to update my spreedsheet whenever I change my sketch.
For my 3D scene, I have to use a texture file on the floor. If I use the only file, than it looks really boring and below par. What I want is, I want to generate some (around 6-8) texture files within the original texture file - so the colors of all the texture files remain same but only the texture varies.Likewise there are more than 500 texture files and I just can't do them manually. Is there any way out to do this in Photoshop?
I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.
Cad Manager/Senior Designer Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 SP2 64-Bit Edition Windows 7 HP Z400, Intel Xeon W3550 3.07GHz 12.0GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)
is possible to retrieve the information of the reference in the iam file without open the file in session ? Opening with notepad the iam file, at the end of file, the references is contains in the planar text.
Is possible to retrieve documentation for this request ?
if i need to rename or change anything in the iproperties of ipt, im doing it from the vault.my problem is that, when i change something in iproperties of an ipt thru vault, i have to open the idw to update it.
as most of the iproperties in ipt shows in the idw.
its easy to change the properties in vault. but its deleting its purpose if i have to each idw to make sure i have the updated idw.is there a code where i can open all idw and save the same file and checking to the vault automatically?
For some reason, one of our PC's running MEP 2012 has suddenly started to only open drawings in read-only mode. The same drawings will open just fine on other PC's so they / their folders are not set to read-only in windows. The user also has the exact same access rights on the server as the others.
The strangest thing about this is the following warning box that appears on screen. see attached.
For some reason, the alert message which displays the full path of the dwg in question, has it's path modified with a date and time stamp prefixed with a '@' symbol. Needless to say the folder '@GMT-2012.07.17-11.00.04' does not exist. In 18 years of playing with AutoCAD I've never seen this one before.
the file exists however the open function still returns nil... the file is not read only, and permission on the file appear to be just fine. What other reasons would there be that cause open function to return nil? This is happening only on one machine. All the others are writing to the file just fine.
I very frequently get the above message, "Oject was open for Read". Its to do with annotative text objects which I just recently started using. When I get the message the piece of text I am trying to make changes to is frozen, cant delet it or anything?
Have 1 drawing where I get the Error Message - Open for Read when trying to modify linework. Try to change color, layer, close an open polyline, but can't do so due to the error message. By the way, using C3D 2012 with Service Pack 1 installed.
