Nov 18, 2012I'd like to know how do you add colors to paths. I'd also know how to make one end of a path more lighter and sharper. Also I'd like to know how to sort of blend colors into a path.

GIMP :: Blending 3 Colors Into 1 Different Color?
Apr 10, 2012If you open the picture and see it u see 3 dragon heads, one white, one blue and one red.
what I am trying to do is make the centre orange and let those 3 colors blend into orange.
that's why the topic name '3 colors into 1 different color'.
I tried things with the circular flashlight effect (dont know the name of the effect)
but the goal is that only the colors change and NOT the background.

Feb 27, 2013I would like to know, whether is it possible to make soft blends between all objects of the person in the art I am creating. The problem is, that I want to make very smooth transition between all paths(brush strokes) in the file. I tried the blend tool, but it didn´t work good for this purose. Then I tried to blur or feather all objects, but the result wasn´t good as well. Opacity masks would be too complicated for all those strokes. Is it possible to make this work for all brush paths in the file?

When I get to this point the dark colors dont Blend well, they look like theyre displaying only a few shades of grey as opposed to many that would work for it blend better. I tried resetting my preferences and it did nothing. Im using Windows 7, Photoshop CS5.

Mar 6, 2013I am trying to create a rhinestone template of my company logo. I have it as a PNG image as well as text because me logo is of the letter "V" in a downloaded font. I have converted the text to an outline. I created two circle shapes with the diameter of 4.3mm, the exact size of my rhinestones.
I use the blend tool on the two circle shapes, select option "New Path", select my logo, and then select option "Blend Along full path" but it doesn't. Its supposed to create an outline of 4.3mm circles all around the letter but it doesn't.
Illustrator :: Blending Complex Shapes - Location In Middle Of Path
Aug 28, 2013I'm trying to blend 2 complex shapes together to give a 3D appearance but I keep having issues with the edges that choose to blend together. The image below shows what I want it to look like (small square on the left, smooth color blend) and what the shape looks like (shape on the right). The paths have the same number of anchor points and the white shape on top is an expanded offset version of the green shape on the bottom. The purple lines show what anchor points should be blending together.
For some reason it is blending to a location somewhere in the middle of the path and not to the corners. I have gone over the two paths and made sure that there are no points that shouldn't be there, as i know that can cause issues with blending.
GIMP :: Text Along Path Function Hovers Too Far Above Path?
Mar 7, 2013Why the "Text along path" feature hovers the text so far above the currently active path? (in my case, the space between the path and the text is about 3 times the height of the currently used font!). I've been told that the letters should lie on top of or at least closer to the path instead. How can I move the text closer to the path?

GIMP :: Blending Harsh Line?
Dec 30, 2013I am having a horrible time getting rid of the hard edge of the photo that I want to blend in with the gray.
Both are on separate layers, with the top layer being the photo itself.
I added a layer mask to the photo, and selected the blend tool , with the gradient set to FG to BG.
Pulling my cursor from left to right, I still cannot get rid of the harsh line without loosing the clarity of the photo.

Oct 22, 2012Basically I've got the cut out that I want to blend into a picture, and what I do is get the images as near the centre of the canvas as I can, then copy and paste a new layer. Take the new layer and reduce it in size by say 95%, then try to centre it within the original image behind is as best I can. Select round it with the fuzzy select tool, then delete the smaller image. Move back to the original image and then add mask layer and use gradient blur to introduce a gradually fading of a few pixels round the edges.
The trouble is this method is not really good for complex shapes and often involves some iWarping to get the smaller image within the boundary of the larger one. So my question is, is there an easy way to fuzzy select round an image boundary that can introduce an arbitrarily chosen margin, say 5 or 10 pixels?
Anyway this is the kind of thing I am working on at the moment, making trippy fantasy images using dead animal's skulls.
GIMP :: Blending Exposures As Layers
May 2, 2011I have multiple exposures of the same photo that I'd like to combine into one image showing the specific details of all. I've been messing around with layer modes and opacity sliders but can't quite get exactly what I want.
These are a a couple of the images I'm trying to combine:
What I'd like the final image to show is the pronounced shadow behind the railing in the first exposure and the lit up details of the hallway in the lower left corner of the second exposure, if there's a way to achieve this without having to draw layer masks and such.

Specifically, I refer to Figure 5.29(a) where the re-coloured cat does not appear to sit naturally on the person's shoulder (cf Figure 5.26(a)). How can the defect be overcome? But would the bucket fill also be feathered?

Nov 6, 2012I have a picture of a black dog which I want to merge into a black background as seamlessly as possible. I created a layer mask and blacked out the photograph area behind the dog so that the black of the layer beneath shows through. What I want to do now is somehow feather the edge between the dog and the black background to melt the two together rather than having a sharp crisp edge. Can I somehow feather the edge of my layer mask to do this quickly and easily or do I have to do it manually using the smudge tool etc?

Jan 3, 2014I want to cut a gradient with hard edges. But gimp is anti aliasing and color blending the edges with every tools. Same happens on filling the selected area, or erasing, or deleting.
See here. The upper is the original before filling with white/deleting the selected are, the lower is the result. The edges are blended, but i don't want it to be blended!

May 17, 2012I'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.
I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.

May 23, 2013I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..

Sep 6, 2011I'm working on a graphic in which I wish to have some text around a circle. I know, I know, use "Text to Path" ... except that will not work in this case because the text I want to have go around the circle is not from a font, but drawn by me (my other other project; find a program for creating font files that I can afford to make a proper font so "Text to Path" would work).
So, I have a selection (and a path from that selection) that is basically the outline of the text I want to manipulate. I have another selection for the circle the text is supposed to go around. What is the (probably obvious) thing that I'm missing to get the text selection path to be drawn on the circle?

Mar 5, 2011How do I keep my GIFs the same colors as I created them? When I import the GIFs into GIMP the colors are changed on some of them. Are there different types of GIF (color resolutions)?
The attached GIF should have a gray border but in GIMP the border is yellow, other colors are changed too. The "PS" letters should be purple-pink but GIMP changes them to black, basically all the colors change.
I am trying to create an animated GIF and the GIFs are imported as layers
I've noticed the problem GIFS have a lower case file extension (.gif) whereas the OK images have an upper case file extension.GIF
It's OK I can simply open the lower case .gifs in MS Paint and then "save_as" which saves them as an UPPERCASE .GIF file extension and then GIMP doesn't change the colors. Problem solved but it is odd that it occurred in the first place. I wonder what was happening?
OH NO... it is still changing the colors. I think I will just do a screen grab and save that as a completely new GIF which stops the colors changing but it is a big hassle because I have about 9 images to change.
NO I STILL CAN'T FIX IT How can I stop GIMP changing the colors of imported GIF layers in a GIF animation?
