I am new to the gimp software and am struggling blending a photo into a solid color background.I cannot seem to get rid of the hard end of the photo. I have tried applying a mask then using the blending tool, but still cannot remove the line.

I currently make an A5 magazine using corel draw x3.I am looking to make a full page advert with a photo at the bottom of the page (3rd of the page landscape) and then I would like to match the colour from the top of the photo and use it for the rest of the page.However I would like it to blend.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI did put a real photo in the background of my website to fit entire page. So the text of my webpage is black, and sometimes other colors. So what happen is that some times the text is hard to read when it come on top of dark places of the photo (for example hear of people). So i want to adapt the photo to make it more unicolor, more whiten (increase whiteness) so the black text will appear even better.
What tools and filters in gimp that give me this ability to do that ?
Basically I've got the cut out that I want to blend into a picture, and what I do is get the images as near the centre of the canvas as I can, then copy and paste a new layer. Take the new layer and reduce it in size by say 95%, then try to centre it within the original image behind is as best I can. Select round it with the fuzzy select tool, then delete the smaller image. Move back to the original image and then add mask layer and use gradient blur to introduce a gradually fading of a few pixels round the edges.
The trouble is this method is not really good for complex shapes and often involves some iWarping to get the smaller image within the boundary of the larger one. So my question is, is there an easy way to fuzzy select round an image boundary that can introduce an arbitrarily chosen margin, say 5 or 10 pixels?
Anyway this is the kind of thing I am working on at the moment, making trippy fantasy images using dead animal's skulls.
If you open the picture and see it u see 3 dragon heads, one white, one blue and one red.
what I am trying to do is make the centre orange and let those 3 colors blend into orange.
that's why the topic name '3 colors into 1 different color'.
I tried things with the circular flashlight effect (dont know the name of the effect)
but the goal is that only the colors change and NOT the background.
I want to cut a gradient with hard edges. But gimp is anti aliasing and color blending the edges with every tools. Same happens on filling the selected area, or erasing, or deleting.
See here. The upper is the original before filling with white/deleting the selected are, the lower is the result. The edges are blended, but i don't want it to be blended!
How can i disable this behavior?
In Max 2014 my files are opening with the gradient an the viewport background. How can i change that so the default is the solid color instead of the gradient?

Ususally I just make my own textures, but I wanted to edit an existing texture this time. The texture is for armor called Red Dragon Armor, it has red scales on it.
I want to replace these red scales (without taking away the details such as the streaking and the scratches) with gold. I tried using "Color select" then "colorify" but it didn't come out quite right.
What is the usual method for changing the color of a section of an image if there are details and you don't want to use the "bucket fill" option?
I used to work in Photoshop and GIMP, but then became sidetracked. I've forgotten half of it. I used to make siggies for others all the time, although I really was guessing my way through some of it. I knew I could do better.
Anyway, I figured it'd be wise to start with a really basic question. I'll use the pic below as an example.
In a pic such as this one, how would you go about seamlessly blending the edge of the picture with the background? (All I did so far was have 2 separate layers; the picture of the hottie, and then behind it of course was just the template where I tried to match the pink from the hotty pic).
I'm also curious about just blending 2 or more photographs together to create a collage. I've done this before, but I know I made it harder and more tedious than it had to be. So.... would a collage have to be done a little differently.
I used to go about all this various ways way back when, but like I said... I've forgotten half my little tricks which I know really weren't the correct and easiest route to go about it.
Will the downloaded version of Photoshop CC allow me to change the background of a picture to a solid color?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to create a transparent text on a solid color background, and I need text transparency to go all the way to through the image (i.e. do not show the solid color background). I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. How do I make text transparency to go all the way through? Here is a similar example for Photoshop CS, only in my case, the background layer is transparent (i.e. there is no picture): URL... View 4 Replies View RelatedHow I choose a color for any new objects I want to create. I've opened the toolbox with ctrl-b, which appears on the left side of the window. If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.
step 1) I remove the background of my image with the color to alpha method, isolating the part of the image i want.
step 2) I then use color select tool to select all the transparent area that was left behind from step 1.
step 3) I create a new layer.
step 4) Then I use the bucket fill tool to fill in the area on the 2nd layer that was selected in step 2.
This is where I run into trouble. On some pixels where the color filling meets dotted line area (made by color select tool) the color comes out translucent. I don't want this to happen. I want it to be solid ff00ff (color hex) without the random reductions in opacity.
I'm working with sprites and the emulator i use has ff00ff as transparent. I'm getting random pink color coming out of the edges of my sprites. These little specks of pink should not be appearing in game because it is supposed to be read as transparent. i suspect that these specks coming out are related to these translucent hiccups made in gimp.
So Ive learned how to turn a color photo to B&W with spot color ...how to turn a color photo sepia, but also spot color. I have a wedding photos that I think would be a fun shot to play mixing those colors together . I have searched for the info earlier today and wasnt successful .
