i am interested doing a galaxy background for one of my photos. i don'y know how to create another backorund for my pic but and i was wondering how to, and also i am wondering if it is possible to make is so like you can't see anything from the original background. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have photoshop elements 7.0 and I am having difficulty making making a photo with a transparent background. According to the tutorials I watched, I am supposed to bring the desired photo which I do and can be seen on the right in the layers box dialogue. Then there I create a copy which is "unlocked" which shows up on my screen. Then, I select the brush tool and I select the areas of the photo which I wish to make transparent and then hit the letter "D" on my keyboard, or the delete button. Although the background is seen gone in the photo in my layers box, the background is still shown in my photo on my screen. The perforated lines are seen and although I keep pressing the D button it does not work.

I found a bunch of cropping tutorials on YouTube, but they used a lot of advanced (to me) terms and seemed focused on difficult situations.
I have 30-40 photos that are of wooden figures cut on a band saw. They do not have highly irregular edges like hair or fuzz.
I am hoping for a tool that can automatically follow the outline and then let me make any minor adjustments that may be needed.

I did put a real photo in the background of my website to fit entire page. So the text of my webpage is black, and sometimes other colors. So what happen is that some times the text is hard to read when it come on top of dark places of the photo (for example hear of people). So i want to adapt the photo to make it more unicolor, more whiten (increase whiteness) so the black text will appear even better.
What tools and filters in gimp that give me this ability to do that ?

Not just change the color but change the color AND make it keep it's original shading, etc. I have some family photos we had made recently and they used a beige color draping for the background. The ones we had made before had a black draping. I was wondering how I could go about using some sort of additive coloring to transform the varying shades of beige to the same varying shades of black.
I have already used the masking tool to separate the background from the rest of the photo.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just discovered that the Plugin Site Galaxy Edges & Frames CD cant be used in Live Effects in Graphic Designer 7.
These are the instructions on their CD for using with Xara, but after create bitmap and export i cant get it to work properly!!
1. Import the photo file you want the frame to be applied to with Import from the File menu.
2. Import one of the frame files from the frame sub folder with Import from the File menu.
3. Select the Bitmap Gallery from the Utilities menu.
4. Right click on the frame file in the Bitmap Gallery and select Apply as transparency from the context menu.
5. Use the handles of the frame object to make it the same size as the photo. Makes sure that the frame lies over the photo.
6. Choose Select All from the Edit menu or press Ctl +A to select both objects.
7. Choose Group from the Arrange menu or press Ctl+ G to combine both objects.
8. Select Create Bitmap Copy from the Arrange menu or press Ctl+ G to combine both objects.
9. In the Create bitmap option dialog make sure that the correct settings are set (e.g. that the color depth is set to 24bit) and press the Create button.
10. Save the created bitmap with Export from the File menu.

I have been having a problem in the attribute editor. I am trying to make a Galaxy with the galactic paint tool. When i make it I go into the galaxy1 tab. Most of the subMenus inside the tab are there but I am missing Behavior and Growth. They were not there at first, then they were there and now they are not there again and i can't get them back again. I really need them for what I am doing. Oh and also, the only solution I saw by searching for it is to turn on Construction History but It was already on.

I want to import a photo, trace geometric shapes over the photo like circles and lines, and then remove the photo. I have a very basic understanding of LAYERS. I have viewed a few tutorials. But I don't know how to import a photo or how to get rid of it once I have drawn the geometric shapes over it.
I was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.
What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.
It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.
If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?
I'm looking to create my own version of wallpaper that resembles the aqua style default wallpapers for the Mac OS x. Does anyone have a tutorial or know how do do this? I've played around with making curves with the pen tool and applying effects, but I can't seem to make it look as convincing as the original (attached).
