Premiere Pro :: CS6 - Does Import DV Files Used With CS5

Feb 6, 2014

Trying to upgrade from CS5 to CS6.  Upgraded one NLE and found CS6 will not import DV files that were used with CS5.   Can't believe Adobe missed this one!  We create many DV files each day that can't be used with CS6.  Any sort of conversion would just add another unnecessary step.  Do I need to stay with CS5

Premiere Pro :: AVI Files In Adobe (can't Import)

Feb 7, 2014

I've just tried to import a bunch if .avi files into Adobe Premiere (OSX) but they all failed due to missing codec. Is there a way around this? I've looked at some other threads but don't understand it all and i'm on a bit of a deadline.

I've currently installing it on my windows box as i know OSX doesn't play nice with avi anyway, is it likely to work?

The avi files have multiple streams -2 camera angles are recorded, when they are loaded  both show and play in sync so i'm worrying about converting to another format.

Premiere Pro :: Cannot Import 2.5K Blackmagic DNG Files Into CC

Jan 23, 2014

I recently moved to CC in order to be able to work with Blackmagic's DNG raw files inside Premiere Pro. The move was successfull, I could work with such files. However, all of a sudden, I cannot import them into Premiere Pro. First, I cannot select the files and import them as a sequence, because the box will not activate.

Second, when I click on the folder containing the files, Premiere tries to import them, but then an error message appears saying "file format not supported".

I have seen other discussion threads about failures to import Blackmagic Cinema POCKET raw files, but I am working with files from the 2.5K Blackmagic Cinema Camera, which should give no trouble. In fact, as I said, I was perfectly able to work with them.

I have introduced no changes in my computer or the CC Suite, so this sudden error is all the more puzzling. The wav file will get imported, but none of the DNG files will.

I have copied the all the files over from the Canon Xa10 individually and the "Private" folder and then tried to import. Still couldnt see them. It seems like its not a supported file type. PP should be able to do this shouldn't it?

I currently am running Premiere Pro CS5 with Windows 7 64Bit

Premiere Pro :: Import Sequence From Another Project Without Bringing Associated Media Files?

Apr 15, 2014

My assistant and I are working on 2 different computers tied to a server.  We need to be able to pass sequences back and forth. Unfortunately, Premiere seems to be adding the associated media files with each sequence import.  Our project has fast become a mess of duplicate media.  Also, I noticed this "new feature" listed on the Adobe site: An option has been added to not consolidate duplicates on import. Will this fix this problem?

Xara :: Using Edges And Frames From Plugin Galaxy

I have just discovered that the Plugin Site Galaxy Edges & Frames CD cant be used in Live Effects in Graphic Designer 7.

These are the instructions on their CD for using with Xara, but after create bitmap and export i cant get it to work properly!!

1. Import the photo file you want the frame to be applied to with Import from the File menu.
2. Import one of the frame files from the frame sub folder with Import from the File menu.
3. Select the Bitmap Gallery from the Utilities menu.
4. Right click on the frame file in the Bitmap Gallery and select Apply as transparency from the context menu.
5. Use the handles of the frame object to make it the same size as the photo. Makes sure that the frame lies over the photo.
6. Choose Select All from the Edit menu or press Ctl +A to select both objects.
7. Choose Group from the Arrange menu or press Ctl+ G to combine both objects.
8. Select Create Bitmap Copy from the Arrange menu or press Ctl+ G to combine both objects.
9. In the Create bitmap option dialog make sure that the correct settings are set (e.g. that the color depth is set to 24bit) and press the Create button.
10. Save the created bitmap with Export from the File menu.

Premiere Pro :: How To Import Subtitles

Aug 31, 2013

how to import subtitles to PPro. So far, as of writing this post, PPro does not handle subtitle files. Fortunately, I found a quick and dirty workaround to importing all kinds of subtitle formats to PPro as PNG. But firstly, there are 3rd party plug-ins that lets you import srt files into PPro and let's you edit it in PPro.

NB: Subtitles are better as a seperate file. But in case you really need to burn your subs on the video, then follow the steps below.

Steps:
1. If you have a long project and and don't want to use PPro's title module, then you must go and download Subtitle Edit. - it's a great FREE software that has an video monitor and audio waveform where you can scrub to the specific time you want.

2. Once you're done subtitling, go to File > Export > Final Cut XML + PNG (i know it's FCP but it works well with PPro too) You can then set the desired style for your subtitles, font color, size, etc. Once you've exported, it's going to output 2 main files: one, the PNG files and two, the XML file.

3. Import the XML to PPro. It's going to generate a Sequence with the subtitles as PNG in it.

4. Relink the PNGs. For whatever reason, when you import the XML, the PNGs are not linked yet.

5. Place your subtitle sequence on your main timeline. Reposition and reframe as needed.

6. Render. Might take 10% longer than usual.

Premiere Pro :: CC Hangs When Import AAF

Jan 10, 2014

I work on a Windows 7 machine. I have Creative Cloud. I am trying to import an aaf that my editors have sent me. They first sent me an .aaf with "AAF edit protocol" checked and all the media imbedded in the file. It gave me a Generic Error after trying to import.

I had them re-export the .aaf this time with links to the media as instructed on all the info I could find online. On import into Premiere, it begins to import and then just hangs. It just sits there. If I click Cancel or the 'x' in the upper right of the window, then Premiere stops responding and I have to shut it down using Windows Task Manager.

I have been trying to import an .aep file into Premiere Pro CC from After Effects CC. I import the file. The dynamic import window appears. It states connected to file along with the import files ... dialogue box. It stalls there.

I have been working off my network and have all the files collected on my machine.

My workaround to get me to deadline was to render my clips from AE and import them. Importing the .aep would make more sense from efficiency and workflow.

Premiere Pro :: Audio Out Of Sync After Import?

Oct 30, 2013

I've been doing some game recordings with Nvidia's new ShadowPlay. The recording says it is done in "1080p @ 60 FPS with H.264". The recorder outputs into a .mp4 file. When I watch the raw footage, it is all properly synced. However, when I import it into Premiere, it is always out of sync without fail. I know very very little about the program, and have been trying to learn as I go, but I can't seem to figure out how to re-sync it. For now I've been having to cut the sound into parts and adjust the rates manually to get it to sync back up, but this is insanely tedious.
