This is a big learning curve and trying to figure out all the tools and layering process.
I am working on a photo for a newsletter which will be printed in black and red. I would like to preserve the reds in the photo and convert the rest to gray scale. Am I asking the impossible?
If not, can you suggest how to go about it?
I haven't found a way to turn a color photo into a Black & White outline drawing in Corel PhotoPaint X5.

i can duplicate this situation on calibrated NEC MultiSync monitors and uncalibrated laptops. We are running on Mac OS X.8x and above.
Designers are complaining about not being able to pick a color from the Swatch Library in AICS6 or AICC. InDesignCC does not seem to have the same issue.
I need to change the default text color to a pantone spot color.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe print out spot color seps every day using CorelDraw X4. After we print out the plates, I have to cut down the vellum that we print on so that we do not have a bunch of extra blank vellum on the sheet.
We make use of the info that is printed on the lower left of every page where it states something like the following:

After I cut down the sheet, I then have to hand write the name of the spot color onto the sheet of vellum in marker.
Is there any way at all, to make it so that CorelDraw would actually add the name of the spot color that is printed on each page to the information that is already being printed to the lower left? Ideally, it could be placed in the same area where it's already printing the plate information on the last line.

I have a single layer which is a bunch of people with their hands in the air (on top of transparency).
I want to change every bit of the shape of those people.... to a single color (e.g., very, very light gray blue)
I'm fairly new at gimp and am trying to add color to an old (1950's) photo. Gimp won't let me add anything but shades of grey. I can get it to work if I take a color image, make it black and white, and then recolor it, but this image is starting out b&w. Do images need to be digital for gimp to work?

So far I have managed to remove all content except for "the edges" of the car, but I am a bit lost on how I can make those edges smooth, because now I can see that the masks I used were not "straight"; the photo is reduced to monochrome. I did put a real photo in the background of my website to fit entire page. So the text of my webpage is black, and sometimes other colors. So what happen is that some times the text is hard to read when it come on top of dark places of the photo (for example hear of people). So i want to adapt the photo to make it more unicolor, more whiten (increase whiteness) so the black text will appear even better.
What tools and filters in gimp that give me this ability to do that ?
I am currently trying to combine a color photo frame with a black and white image, but every time I open the frame in "open as layers" the frame turns to black and white as well as the photo. I have no problem when using color photos. Is there a way that I can do this so that my photo frame remains it's original color with the black and white photo inside.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow I choose a color for any new objects I want to create. I've opened the toolbox with ctrl-b, which appears on the left side of the window. If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.

In Photoshop, I've created my spot color channel, selected the Pantone color, pasted a greyscale version of my image into the spot color channel and removed all information from the CMYK channels.
Since my spot color channel is full of various greys, I was expecting to see a full range of TINTS in my image. But for some reason it doesn't look anything like the way I expect it to.
When I choose the same Pantone in InDesign and apply a gradient from 100% to 0% tint, I see a full range of light and dark blues. But in Photoshop everything looks grey-blue.
I thought maybe there was a difference between how the two programs display the color, so I imported the Photoshop file into InDesign anyway. But it still looks grey-blue just like it was in Photoshop.

How do you make an entire picture in grayscale but then keep one object in color or one color in color? How did they keep the yellow in this picture in color?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using corel draw since version 4, and I love it. Now on x5 I cannot figure this out. I use eps files for printing large format with contour lines for cutting. My setup uses a spot color defined as "CutContour" for cutting. It seems x5 renames these colors or converts them to something else. I opened the same file in 12 and had to Reclick the same color for the cutter to see it and it worked fine. Any setting to change this?

I check the box to output seperations, uncheck all the colors I don't want to print - but I still get all the colors printed out, including my page color. I have made SURE that I have only checked the steps I want printed and still get all of the colors printed!
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy client gave me her logo in .EPS format, which I opened using Illustrator. The logo color was Pantone 274C. However, while working on the same EPS file in Photoshop, I realised, when I eyedropped the same color, Photoshop tells me its 2756C, and it does look duller in the workspace. I'm working in CMYK for both programs.
What could be the problem. Is there any way to solve this?

I have a photoshop file of a few photos that is currently grayscale. I need the final output to be two spot colors.1. Spot color black2. PMS 294The PMS 294 will be a solid blue field that everything in the file sits on.1. How do I tell PS to make everything that's black into Spot Black? 2. What is the procedure to making the final output of the EPS DCS2 file?When I output it, and check the file in Illustrator, it still reads as a CMYK + 1 Spot.

I'm running a Mac OSX with Photoshop 7.0 and QuarkXPress 7.2, and so I tried deleting the cyan and yellow channels in photoshop. This forces me to save the Photoshop image as a DCS 2.0, thus incompatible with Quark (has to be in a .tif).
Making a monotone of the image makes the entire image magenta (and duotone isn't much better), but I'm trying to have the film reel tape as magenta and the top part of the tape be black.
The hue/saturation was very easy to make the tape into magenta from red, but printing is another issue.
I created an ad using one PMS color after orginially being told that it was a "Thanksgiving 4 column x 4.5” spot color ad”. I received the following message from the newspaper printer today:
"Please relay to your corporate art department that the newspaper does not print in PMS/Pantone colors, except on a full color page, which requires an additional color charge. For spot color, we print in primary colors such as red or green, or in cyan or magenta alone.
As I understood it, spot color meant pantone, and CMYK was process. Am I wrong here or are the printers using the term "spot color" incorrectly?
