View 4 Replies View RelatedIn illustrator, how do you change a photoshop spot color channel that has been imported into illustrator. Ever since Illustrator CS2 you could import a psd into Illustrator and you could ungroup the channels and change the colors. How do you do that in CS3-6? I have been trying to figure this out for years. My old computer with Illustrator 10 is about to die and so will my ability to do what I descried above.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a shape with a Pantone Color and then decrease the opacity in the color swatch palette, then go to my swatches palette and select "Select All Unused Colors" it highlights the pantone color being used in the file. In previous version, it never did this. This is for CS6. Any know fix for this?

i can duplicate this situation on calibrated NEC MultiSync monitors and uncalibrated laptops. We are running on Mac OS X.8x and above.
Designers are complaining about not being able to pick a color from the Swatch Library in AICS6 or AICC. InDesignCC does not seem to have the same issue.
When converting from LAB is it possible to change the default look up library from PANTONE Solid Coated to the Pantone+ Color Bridge Coated? Example: Set up a new job using all Pantone+ Color Bridge Coated. This creates all swatches as "Process Color" in CMYK Color Mode.
Client request is to have some Spot Colors.EXAMPLE: I take the "PANTONE 7408 CP" and rename it to "PANTONE 7408 C" change the color type to Spot Color and then close the window. Reopen the spot and change the Color Mode to book. All good now I have a PANTONE Solid Coated.
Client now decides to remove the Spot Color so I add the "P" back in the name and change the color mode back to CMYK.
Now the break is;
C: 2.49%, M: 25.93%, Y: 100%, K: 0%
NOT
C: 0%, M: 29%, Y: 100%, K: 0%
how and if i can change the default color model in illustrator (in the color panel), which is RGB to something else ? (i think colors in HSB and it's a bit annoying changing that every time) i looked it up and couldn't find out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up my CorelDraw x6 workspace so that the default spot color palette is set to Pantone solid coated.
I go to:Tools > Options (or Customization) > Global > Color > set "Default spot color palette" to "PANTONE solid coated"
Unfortunately this seems to be ignored by x6.
Every time i want to change from a CMYK color to Pantone i must do the following:
1) select the objec
t2) double click the color chip adjacent to the Fill icon in the Status Bar
3) which brings up:
4) from here I select the Palettes tab (if it is not already selected)5) then select from the Palette drop down menu:SPOT > PANTONE > PANTONE+ > Solid Coated
This is a very clumsy and inefficient way to work as I must do this EVERY time I want to change from CMYK to Pantone. Is there any way to get x6 to operate correctly or is there something I am missing?
How do I change the default fill color palette in Illustrator CS6? Specifically, I am opening a a new brochure template and the fill and stroke boxes on the left side of the control panel just open with the "no fill" red slash box and the registration mark "bullseye". I would like to have the default color palette load as if it were a new document.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a series of Illustrator documents created over 2 - 3 years. They are artwork for labels of multiple sizes of the same product. It is important that the colour is consistent. In the period concerned I will have used CS5, CS5.5 and CS6.
I have just added to the range and the client came back to me saying that the "blue has changed”. Sure enough it has. When I compare, Pantone 652 on one it is darker than Pantone 652 on a newer one. Apparently it prints differently as well. When I copy and paste blue items from one document to another (either way) they change colour. In other words PMS 652 is not consistent from one document to another.
When I check the CMYK numbers on the two documents they are very different: 50/25/0/10 and 47/24/7/0.
I have read that Pantone wished to 'improve' some things, and I know I can change the colour book in CS6, or just work some projects in older Illustrator versions. But they all seem to me to be cumbersome work arounds. Surely Pantone 652 should always be Pantone 652.
I created a logo in Illustrator CS5 made of several overlapping parts, all parts have the same Pantone color, but with different intensity (I'm not sure it's called intensity, is the bar, inside the Color Palette by which you can adjust the color from white to 100% of the Pantone color of your choice). What I'm looking for is a way to change the color of all the parts at once with another Pantone with a simple click, without having to manually adjust all the intensity of every single parts again. Now, when I try, all parts changes in the new Pantone color but all are at 100%. If i change only one part at a time the percentage of intensity is observed. I know that i can do it manualy, changing every single part, but i wonder if there is a faster way that i don't know.

How do I know which program is giving me the correct breakdown and is there a quick way of linking everything up so we are singing off the same hymn sheet?
For instance

Recently we have been having this issue at work, We have a line of packaging that uses the same pantone color (375 C). When we go to create a new document and use that same pantone the color onscreen looks more saturated then its predecessor. The only think I can think of is that I've upgrade to the pantone plus system but have since uninstalled and reinstalled the old color books. Both documents are in CMYK color space and both use the same ICC profile. I know it wont appear this way when printed but we make a lot of PDFs for approvals and the colors come out more saturated in the PDF as well. See sample image below.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm running Design and Web Premium CS6 on a Windows 7 machine. I was recently using Ai's Recolor Artwork dialogue for a CMYK document. I wanted to convert my 4 color artwork to Pantone solid coated. I decided to chose some different Pantones. In older versions of Illustrator I could easily open the Color Picker, click on a Pantone value and then just type in a new value to scroll to it. This is no longer the case with Ai CS6.

I want to change the parts of the text over the image to the image color. Basically, I want to make the image out of the tiny text and delete the image from the background. As of right now, I'm individually selecting text and changing the color, bit by bit. I know there has to be a much better way, this is going to take hours! I've been using AI for a very long time and this is one of the only times I've been completely stumped! I've included a sample image, the actual one is much more involved.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a complex (includes tints) clip art object that needs printing in a specific pantone color I just convert it to grayscale using edit>find and replace objects>color mode. then print it as a black plate and just use another color on press.
Today I had to send off artwork to another printer. Dang. How to install a macro. Import clip art to be modified to a new document, do not do this in your working document.
Use Edit>Find and Replace> Find Objects
Replace a color model or palette. Next
Leave as is except change Replace with color model to "Grayscale" Next>Replace all
Repeat 2-4 for 'outlines' if you have them. There you now have a gray scale clipart, but the fun continues! You'll need to know what pantone color you want to use. Let's say Reflex Blue. Make a square and color it Reflex blue from a pantone palette.Duplicate the square and create swatches at 90% 80% 70% etc down to white.Select these square swatches, then Windows>Color Palette>Create Palette from Selection. Save palette with a temporary name, it is only time use. Or you could call it 'Reflex Blue'Now go to this website and download the macro "limit colors" URL...
Drop it in your GMS folder in under your username to install the macro. (might have to save the drawing and restart Corel...)Once you reopen your now grayscale clipart document, Select the clipart. Run the macro (Tools>Macros>Run Macros) LimitColors.Posterize select the number of colors in your new palette if you created 10% swatches, go with 11, if you did steps of 20% then you'll do 6 (don't forget white).Run the macro LimitColors.LimitColors and select your new palette you made in step 9.
I work with a large number of Illustrator files daily that all use the Pantone Solid Coated library for their swatch color scheme. This color library will be used whether customers provide the art pieces or if I design the pieces for them.
However, I have found that in order to best match our digital press we must to convert the inks to the Pantone Color Bridge CMYK PC library before printing.
Basically the same color number just the different library (eg PMS 200C would convert to PMS 200PC if outputing in-house to the digital press).
My question - is it possible to create a script that would swap out all the colors in a document (that are in a specific library) with the same colors from a different library?
*More specifically what I am wanting to do is if I have a document that has a dozen solid coated colors swap them for their same numerical equivelant in the Color Bridge CMYK PC library.
