How do I change the default fill color palette in Illustrator CS6? Specifically, I am opening a a new brochure template and the fill and stroke boxes on the left side of the control panel just open with the "no fill" red slash box and the registration mark "bullseye". I would like to have the default color palette load as if it were a new document.
View 7 RepliesIn previous versions of CorelDraw, I could set the default color palette for the fountain fill. But in X6 it doesn't seem to hold. Especially for the second color. It keeps going back to CMYK (even when color management is set to RGB) and when I click on palettes in the fountain fill box, it defaults to Pantone, so that I must click through many options to get back to my palette.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding illustrator. Let's say I have a circle with blue fill and red stroke. And I place an image in the illustrator file. Now I want to change the red stroke of my circle to let's say a purple color by sampling the color from the image.
How can I achieve that with a eye dropper tool? Every time when I try to sample a color from the image, the whole circle will change to purple instead of just the stroke? I have tried multiple key combination, shift, alt, ctrl but they all don't work.
Is there any way to change the background color of the Layer palette? (CS6/Mac here)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a script in CS5 mac os10.6.8 that will change the fill color of selected pathItems. I need a simple script that will change a selected pathItem to cmyk values 2,3,15,0. I will then select this script and implement the action in a batch of 600 files.
I wish this process could be recorded as an action but when I record the action "add new swatch" I have to manually input the cmyk values, which will take forever for a batch of over 600 files.
After a little while the color palette suddenly became glaringly fluorescent and no amount of rebooting could get my original color palette back. After that I opened the Palette Editor under Tools and fiddled around the Sort button settings there. This changed the order I was seeing the colors in my palette which stayed as fluorescent as ever and the original sequence would not come back no matter what I did. I read up a bit and played around with the Color Management settings-in vain. As a last resort I have uninstalled and installed the program again-to no avail! What should I do? I tried the F8 start as well-that didn't work either.

I go to:Tools > Options (or Customization) > Global > Color > set "Default spot color palette" to "PANTONE solid coated"
Unfortunately this seems to be ignored by x6.
Every time i want to change from a CMYK color to Pantone i must do the following:
1) select the objec
t2) double click the color chip adjacent to the Fill icon in the Status Bar
3) which brings up:
4) from here I select the Palettes tab (if it is not already selected)5) then select from the Palette drop down menu:SPOT > PANTONE > PANTONE+ > Solid Coated
This is a very clumsy and inefficient way to work as I must do this EVERY time I want to change from CMYK to Pantone.Is there any way to get x6 to operate correctly or is there something I am missing?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI traced an image earlier, expanded it then wanted to change the line colour. For some reason I couldn't get this to work even though I've done it in the past. So, I used the magic wand to select the line then dragged it into my new document and changed the line colour.
Now, I want to change the fill on certain sections, however when I change the stroke it changes the colour of the line and when I change the fill it changes the color of the line.
How I choose a color for any new objects I want to create. I've opened the toolbox with ctrl-b, which appears on the left side of the window. If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.

I have created some live text (ie: it remains editable)
I have given it a fill of black and a heavy (7pt) stroke of blue.
I cannot appear to rearrange the stroke so that it falls beneath the fill
I assumed it would simply be question of dragging it below, as one would with the Layers
However, when I converted the text to outlines (in this case the text "UNIVERS") it works.
And also why are the eyes in the first coloumn grayed out when the text is live. But not so when text is outlined?
For some reason a Document Color Palette doesn't appear by default when I create a new document. It did at one time, but now I have to manually activate it. Not sure what I did to cause this change in behavior, but I'd like to get it back as a default.

If I hit "OK" the actual color chosen is the one in the palette, not the preview window... Including some pics for reference. In my 10+ years of using Illustrator, i have never seen this.I am using a Dell monitor on a mac... not sure if that would make a difference.

I know how to create an action to change the header, but I don't know how to make one that changes the fill color. I have a list of each hex code for each image on a spreadsheet. Is there anyway i could create an action to read the information from that and create each image accordingly?
I would do it by hand, but I anticipate getting several projects of this type in the future, so I would like to automate as much as I can!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't change the default colors anymore. I mean the default foreground and background colors. I can change them to whatever color I need, but whenever I open GIMP they always start in some combination I had once a few weeks back.
I thought before that I was able to change it simply by going into the preferences and telling it to save the tool options are they are right now. But at some point my default colors got changed, and I can't change it back. Every time I open up gimp the colors are wrong. I can't find the correct option to change the default.
