CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Document Color Palette Doesn't Open By Default
Nov 10, 2011
For some reason a Document Color Palette doesn't appear by default when I create a new document. It did at one time, but now I have to manually activate it. Not sure what I did to cause this change in behavior, but I'd like to get it back as a default.
I've really tried to figure this out on my own – you'd think it would be simple. At some early point, before I was at all familiar with CorelDRAW, I closed the document palette, and ever since then it does not open automatically when I start the program or open a document. I have had to open it manually, and I can't seem to find a way to make it open by default.
My document palette adds the same colors that are NEVER in my art every time. I swear it's a glitch. The colors are so bizzare. And when I go to delete any of them, it says I can't because they are in use. But they are for sure not being used.
Here's a list of the colors:
Black A0QM, Pantone 142, Black A0QM (1), Black A0QM (2), Black A0QM (3), DIC 2287p* (1), PANTONE 142 (1), Black A0QM (4), PANTONE 142 (2), Black A0QM (5), Black A0QM (6), Black A0QM (7), DIC 2287p* (1) (1), PANTONE 142 (3)
That's the order they are always in. I don't even know where you would get any of those colors and what they would be used for? Except the Pantone of course.
Is there a way to apply a color to selected objects without having to search for the color in the color palette. So say if I am working with an image that has multiple colors but want to use only one of the colors in that image, is there a way to apply it without having to create or add it to the palette.
When a new page or document is created, by default the zero point is set at the bottom left of the page. Is there a way to set it to another point like top left so that all new documents open with it set that way. (top left)
My CMYK palette is the same hue as my RGB palette right now. I guess you know the difference. RGB looks bright and high in contrast like the ones used in Microsoft word. And the cmyk is, not the bright... Anyway, so the problem is...its the same color on my monitor. Its looks all RGB. On my other PC-2, its the other way around. My RGB palette looks like CMYK. Its not much of a problem with my PC-2 because i rarely use it for photo editing. Its just use for our cutting machine, the other one, my PC-1..
What's going on because it where i do most of my designs. And the color is a major factor there because most of our clients usually send their design to email and they have specific color. So, im having trouble doing designs. Is there a problem with my monitor? I tried editing my files on PC-2 but if i transfer it to PC-1 the color is different again... I cant get the exact (almost) color i want. The adobe gamma isn't do much either nor the monitor adjustment. Do i need to get a professional calibrator for all my PCs or are there downloadable calibrator on the internet? I was about to try the one about CorelDraw 12 Color Management guide but im still not sure about it. I have to read the infos first.
Here's from my PC-1. To the left is the CMYK and on the right is the RGB
Now here is from my PC-2. Left is CMYK and right is RGB.
When viewed from my PC-2..this one looks all CMYK (and dull)
Corel crashed once when i used shape tool once for a paragraph text and since then my color palette has gone horrible in its colors...even the guide's default color of Violet has changed to some dark blue...all the colors have gone horrible.
Got the "Cannot open a blank document" ERROR Message when I went to open a recently created Corel Draw X5 file. Using Windows 7 Professional.First time I've gotten this message.
I saved a book a friend of mine worked on using coreldraw 12 on a cd and tried to open it in X6 but it won't open. I think My sys. Os is a 32 bit, I have a trial version of x6 on this comp. and full version 12 on another. When I ok convert to bitmap Error message says invalid file format.
Experiencing problems with the dimension tool since upgrading to Corel Draw X6 at this end, which hasn't been resolved with the updates.
I work in mm. The system doesn't remember the default settings if I change my preferences for it to measure in mm via the customisation window or the toolbox as it used to in previous versions. When I open the program again or start a new document, the measurement default keeps changing back to ["] (inches). Sometimes, it will jump back to inches after I change the default to mm when I'm working on the same document.
Same problem seems to be happening with the other units of measure available as well.
Current workaround - the only time it seems to remember my settings is if I change the default to mm and then save a document.
I can fwd a video screen capture which shows the problem if that would work.
I have recently installed X4 after using X3 for a number of years, and it was working fine until suddenly the color pallet has changed to harsh very bright almost unreal RGB-like colours. It is distorting all my work as I cannot see real colours, especially in Photopaint, so impossible to color edit.
Something strange happened today when I was working on a cdr project. I think I have by mistake somehow managed to completely delete the original rgb palette, copied the cmyk palette and saved it as "rgb" palette. As a result if I try to change the color palette, the rgb and the cmyk options are exactly the same palettes.
This happened whilst I was working on a cdr drawing. Somehow I managed to press a wrong key combination whilst trying to save (probably CTRL-something and then CTRL-S immediately after) and noticed that the colors on my drawing changed. I tried to undo, but nothing happened.
After some checking I realized that the original rgb color palette has been replaced with a copy of cmyk. If I now try to switch color palettes, the cmyk and the rgb are exactly the same palettes regardless of which cdr project I open (new or saved).
This is how I tried to fix the issue:
I tried F8 during startup - no change
I tried with the repair option of the installation cd - no change
I tried a removal and a new installation of the Suite - no change.
Could be worth a try: Maybe someone could send me a copy of their rgbstd.cpl-file so that I could replace mine in the C:Program Files (x86)CorelCorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4LanguagesENProgramsData
How to restore the rgb color palette to it's original status as I work mainly with drawings displayed on the net, not on printed materials and I'm getting desperate as I have a deadline tomorrow.
The appearance is totally change what i mean is possibly the brightness. Every single color in the color palette change and become a shocking color. But when i print it, they got printed normally as usual. i can't see the true color i want to use in my design. They're all become a really shocking color and too bright than they supposed to be :[URL]
So, I've had CorelDraw X4 for maybe two years now. Everything has always worked fine.
Now, I can't get it to open new documents, and when it says it's "processing" to open old documents.. It doesn't really make any progress, and nothing every opens.
So in document color settings in color management, should the primary color mode be RGB or CMYK? I only print inkets and never send stuff out to a regular printer.
should all color settings be at RGB if the option is offered?
I'm having a major issue here, I use custom colors (created in my custom palette), X^ used to hold it very nicely, even in PDF exports etc.
Now - with the latest update, X6 "forgets" the custom colors, it resets it to default color, I have to manually set every object to the custom color all over again.
Is there an easy :) way to create a color chart (which I can print later) with Corel Draw?
1. I want to use a single color palette, e.g. one of the Pantone range.
2. Each color of this palette should be the filling of a certain shape (all shapes are similar), so that the number of shapes equals the number of colors in the palette.
How do I get X5 to open with a new blank page as default?
If I enable the welcome screen it asks me what I want to open but if I disable it all I get is a grey area and I have to go to the drop down file menu ans select 'new page'.
I just got X6. I can't get my default color mode to save. I go to options, document, general and change it from CMYK to RGB click document to save styles for all but it doesn't save it. When I export I have to manually change CMYK to RGB and the resolution every time. In other versions once I set it it was always there. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
We hit a weird snag. All our text used to be 100% black (c=0 m=0 y=0 & k=100) On opening files the black is now a mixture of CMYK.We changed default color profiles last week. Could this effect all files? f so - what are the original clr setting for Coreldraw X5 or how can we reset them?
I dobbleclick on fill-color icon in lower right side of the screen to change the fill-color. But no dialog-box appear. But if I try to click anywhere in Corel after this I just get a beep. Looks like there is a dialog-box outside screen or something.
