CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: Saving Files With Big Memory Instead Of Small Memory?
May 6, 2011
I am using corel x3 a long time but never, never had this kind of problem. When i work in corel enviorenment after i have finished my work i go to save my work. But then is the problem It Saves the file with Large Memory on it. let's say if the file normally would be 200 K, now it saves with 3 MB. And if i import some other files in my work then the saved file will be even bigger. If i Delete the files that were imported The Saved File will be Again the same SIZE ! Even if a take one part of the file, let's say if i import only one small text and put it in another file and save it like that, the saved file will be 2 MB. I had a lots of problems, i had saved files on this way with 23-24 MB and when i open them it takes like forever. When you look that file in corel it has nohing in it, absolutely nothing that should be 24 MB. But all of my important work is in that files how to make all things back to normal again,
I do have problem with my newly installed CorelDraw X5. Before X5 we used Corel 12 in our company.
I have project file (150 MB) with lots of text, bitmaps, vectors - about 100 pages. File opens but I can't save it. I always get OUT OF MEMORY error. I even tried to divide this file into 2 smaller parts but still doesn't work.
What I noticed - Corel X5 after clean start (without opened project) takes about 80MB of RAM in task manager. When I open project usage changes from 80MB to 1,2GB. While saving it takes 1,6GB of RAM and it crashes.
To compare - Corel 12 and after opening same project file Corel 12 takes much less of memory - about 770MB and it works without problem.
From time to time when saving a file the file gets corrupted. When trying to open the file, only a blank page is visible. Trying to open the file as zip says "error in packed file..." This happens several times a day (we are 5 users and this happens to everyone).
The out of memory issue is also a huge problem for us. This happens several times a day, often during printing.
Are Corel taking these issues seriously or don't you care about professional users which are dependent on reliable tools?
3 users at Win7-64, 2 at XP-32. All computers are top notch with all patches/updates installed.
I noticed these two options in the status bar . what are they... how they work. i dragged into my toolbar and showing that memory allocated and swap space.
we are using a Dell T5500, WIN7, 64bit with 24 GB main memory. Corel X5 seems to use only a small part of it, although we have large files and jobs (e.g. to export to Adobe Illustrator). This takes a long time (> 10 min), where sometimes Corel even writes nothing to the AI file.
CPU usage is medium, memory usually around 2GB, but not larger.
How can we bring Corel to use more memory to be faster and/or in order to avoid swapping else writing nothing into Adobe Illustrator?
What to try on my computer to counter the frequent and destructive X5 shut downs that are happening. I've read about this problem in other threads, so I know it's not just me or my system.X5 shuts down many, many times every day. I don't think I've been able to work for 15 minutes straight yet without it crashing.
I am running a fast dual-core Intel, XP Pro SP3, 2 GB RAM, ATI Sapphire/Radeon 1GB card, oodles of hard drive space. I can run the hottest, most demanding games no problem. I run hundreds of other apps with no problem. I had no similar problem with X4 on this machine. I have no similar problem with other Corel apps, either.
X5 crashes still happen after I close down as many memory-resident apps as I can. I can't strip it down much further.I usually have a few (3-4) dockers open, one or two palettes, and my files include several bitmaps which may include transparencies or colour masks. I have about 650 fonts installed.
X5 shuts down on me many times during every work session. Sometimes when I am changing fonts, sometimes when editing bitmaps, sometimes when importing bitmaps, sometimes when applying a transparency. Bang - just shuts down. I can have Corelpaint open editing a bitmap and CD closes underneath it. I can open window to import a file and CD closes as I search the thumbnails. It closes when I click the change page tab.
Doesn't seem to be any specific act or function that closes it - it just shuts down. Gone. No warning. I lose everything since the previous save. Half the time the working file is corrupted, too, so I can't even restore it. I have to keep numerous versions on disk and use save-as with every save to keep just one alive.
I notice that the option to set memory usage has gone from the global options menu. Maybe it's bad memory management and we need that option back? I'd be happy to assign a higher percentage of RAM to X5.
I am trying to generate some graphics for my I-phone App. Most of the images can be SVG files which works out great but some of what I need has to be PNG format. So, I need a graphic that is about 50px square and has to be a PNG file.
I have attached a CDR that is a resolution of 10000dpi but when I export to PNG and make it 50px wide it looks like ca-ca :). The problem is in my App i will need to zoom in on the 50px wide image. How can I create small PNG files that I can zoom in on and still look crisp?
The memory the program is using balloons over time because it does not release memory after you close files. In the course of a day, the memory the program uses gets into the 8-10 GB range (we have very large files such as vehicle wraps and large full color signage). The program will start and occupy under 100mb of memory and then when you open a file it will allocate the memory for that file (say 1 GB). Then when you close that file, the memory isn't released or even re-addressed (it just seems to be in limbo at that point). So after 2 dozen or so files the memory the app is taking up gets into the multi-gigabyte range....even without a single file open (the app is running with no open documents).
Now the system I am running has 12GB of ram, so I am not running out of memory yet, but it is still quite alarming to look and see only 2 GB of ram free on a 12GB system with no open files...
I cannot imagine why the programmers wouldn't have the app release the memory it's using. That seems like really sloppy coding to me. (programming 101: when your app is done with memory, release it.).
The system configuration is as follows:
Core i7 980X 3.33Ghz (6 physical cores with hyperthreading), 12 GB RAM, 4-way RAID-0 SSD HDD array, Windows 7 64-bit, Corel Suite x6 (updated to 6.3).
I have a new Corel product...Graphics Suite X4 Home version operating on Windows 7. I have designed several flyers and attempted to save as a PDF file to send to an associate. However the PDF option is not available in the selection box.
So I attempted to download Service Pack 2 for Suite X4 but the installation fails on three attempts.
I am having an issue saving file changes. I can create a file and save it, but if I make a change and try to save it again I get an error that says that the file is open elsewhere.
Several days ago I noticed my files sizes were enormous. I was unable to even open them to work on them. Something that was once 517KB becomes 161MB the next time I save it.
After I installed the Corel update this morning, things were back to working as usual. But tonight it's back to the huge files. I saved a simple greeting card file - no halftones, no gradients, etc. It saved at 19.7MB. A few minutes later after making some small changes - saving again it was now 118 MB.
I tried saving to a lower version of Corel and ver 15 it was the same scenario. When saving to 12, 13, & 14 the files were normal, small sizes. But after a few hours even those versions were saving at huge sizes.
I've had a friend check her computer using the same file - she has the exact same computer & on Corel X6. All of her files are nice and small like they are supposed to be.
I've run virus checks and nothing is coming up. I am on Windows 7 64 bit.
Other than recreating all of my files every time I use them - I have no way of saving usable .cdr files.
I am adjusting colours on photos with Photo Paint X6. When I try to save with original settings the OK button in the "Export to JPEG" dialog box is grayed out. There are no error messages or hints on the screen as to what to do to proceed with the save JPEG with orginal settings.
I am using corel X6 64 on a Dell optiplex 9010 intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz. 8.00GB of RAM. Its taking about 1-2 minutes to copy/cut/open a file/save a file or even publish to PDF. On the same machine Same circumstances but different User i have no problem. I have to use my user because its connected to my email and at this company i cant change that. I have researched many forums and its not color styles or object styles. It does it on a new file with only one object created. I got a new computer signed on to my user account and the problem persists.
I am trying to save as a psd file from illustrator to imoprt it into photshop and take it from there. I have made more than 100 layers and when i try to save as 300 dpi keeping and the layers as well given an option from the dialogue box.
I get a error message not enough memory to save the file. Why does it not save? My laptop has enough memory for another 4 pcs.
I have a problem with X6 that did not exist in X4 (have not used X5).
When I use the dimensioning tool for distances/features smaller than the dimension text, CorelDraw forces the text between the arrows. The result is the text sits over the arrows.
In X4 at the point where the item being dimensioned is smaller than the text, the dimension was put off to one side.
For example, If I were to dimension a feature that is 0.005" Clearly I would not be able to put the dimension "0.005" in that area so it should be off the end of one of the dimension arrows.
I've tried every combination of keys while drawing the dimensions. And thinking the position of the cursor at end of the command might work but to no avail. Is there a way for force the dimension text to be offset and not between the arrows?
After Update 2 and Hotfix 1 (I haven't noticed after which of them exactly it happened) some options in X6, when they are active, are receiving some grey-pink background together with the small icon near them - for example Object position, Object size, Angle of rotation and others. You will see them when you select some object.
In the same color are also some items in the menus without obvious principle. I don't think that this is intentional. Or I cannot see it?
when I try to open an existing file or create a new one -- the application will shut down unexpectedly and without warning. But I also experience application errors: 'Instruction at "0x1a3c4b6b" referenced at memory "0x00000028" Memory could not be read.
How does X5 really handle memory? I have 2 GB RAM and with a clean boot I have 1.5 GB physical memory free. But, when I open X5 and a 330 MB CDR file, the remaining physical memory shows 1 GB while it additionally uses 750 MB of VM on the hard disk.
It doesn't sound very clever to me because I wait and watch my hard drive led blinking at 225 BPM : What should I do to force X5 use the available RAM prior to hard disk? (XP x64sp2)
X5 remaining in memory after being closed by pressing the x in the top right-hand corner of the application window?
Opening and closing Draw was giving me several instances running in memory. I had to kill them all using Task manger. It doesn't always happen so I haven't been able to pin down a reason. I'm using version 15.02.661.
how to covert a PDF file to CorelDraw? I have tried saving the PDF as an EPS and then opening it in CorelDraw, but it only displays a grey box which states "Illustrator 7.eps".
I have several cards that i have designed in CorelDraw x6 (64 bit)
Each CorelDraw card file varies in size from between 5 & 15mb each ...i have exported each as jpegs & they look great onscreen!
i need to get the cards printed now & the printer asked for a pdf file with the cards files in
I have hardly ever used pdf's at all so know very little
Using the Corel preset "Export to pdf" option in CorelDraw the pdf file size comes out at 12mb for EACH INDIVIDUAL card ....is there anyway to get the pdf at the same quality & size as my jpegs??
I've recently upgraded my computer to Win 7 and then to PS CS6 Extended. Now when I process RAW files in ACR 8.1, I get an "Out of Memory" error if I do more than 70 ~ 80 - 24 mb files. Also, it's running really slow. It's taking nearly 50 seconds to process 1 - 24 mb file where PS CS3 and ACR 4.X it took only 17 for the same size file.
Computer Specs; 3.40Ghz, 4GB RAM (max for the motherboard), 120 GB HD "C", 40 GB Scratch Drive, Win 7
What I have done is made sure that the scratch drive is listed first for cache in both PS and ACR, then in ACR, set the cache to nearly 500,000. (I think these numbers are correct, I'm not at the offending computer now)So the questions are; do I need to make any changes to specific setting? Does PS CS6 and ACR 8.1 require more RAM?
I just downloaded lightroom 5.4 the other day and today was the first time I went to download images with it.
I could review all my images before I plugged my card into the card reader and attempted to download them, when I opened the import window in lightroom the first image on the card had a preview, but it was greyed out and the rest of the images came up with the .CR2 icon and when I tried to import them I got an error message saying that the files cannot be read.
I tried ejecting the card and putting it back in my camera, but now I can't see the images on my camera either or save them manually to my hard drive.
The files are from a Canon 5D mk II and I shot all the images in RAW with no JPG's.
while working suddenly everything disappears from the monitor freezing and the file can not' be saved or recovered. The message that appears is insufficient memory. It 'a problem that often appears when I use the text or any changes to the text.
Coreldraw is a 32 Bit Windows xp professional and my pc has 3 GB RAM Intel Core Duo CPU E7400 I can't resolve this problem until now.
I have a large file (17000KB) and it keeps crashing saying it is out of memory. Is there a good way to deal with this file? I can open it and try to delete parts of it but then when I try to save or save it as a different doc, it will crash.
