If I were to work on a file and proceed to close it and then re-open it with the intent of undoing or recovering information, is there anyway to do this?
It may be useful for me and others to know if there is a way round in case this does happen.
Why can't files opened from AI CC created in AI CS4 be reopened after closing the window?–They reopen only if you quit and relaunch AI CC. Why can't anything be copied or pasted from keyboard commands or drop down menu open in AI CC? Why can't a new window be created in AI CC–only receive error code ID-1(Can't create a new illustration. I can insert the poles via long/lat and all is great, my issue is I would like more information in those points.
For example, pole number, class, HOA, Make Ready. Currently I create a survey data store and import ASCII Points using PNE(comma delimited)
So with my Excel file (this is where I get my pole information from) I get a point/northing/easting to enter into the formatting section.
I would like to add more information to these individual points, like ploe number, class, HOA...
If I view the point table I see that there are a lot of other columns, can I use them or customize them? is there a quick tutorial on this issue?
I got a .psb-document with a adjustmentlayer>solid color as a background. The color is a Pantone 354-C. When I save my document (CMYK), and then reopen it, I no longer get the Pantone color library but the default color picker box. I see no visible change in color though so I'm not sure if the color changes. If I click the color library button in my adjustment layer, it automatically pics the PMS color beneth the 354-C (that is 355 C) and I see a change in color. So I have to repick 354-C again.

I keep text as text boxes, not curves - so I can correct it later, if needed / I have this problem many times. I tried to tweak Options - (Workspace and Document) - Save, but it doesn't seem to work. Besides, I tweak options like "Use graphic objects compression", "Save blends and extrudes with the file" without understanding what are they for...
I was working on my .idw and my autodesk inventor 2012 fatal errored on me. Well when I re-opened the program and drawing all my work was gone. Does inventor have a back up file like autocad. I know autocad had 2 back up files (.sv$ and .bak). Does inventor have anything like that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was at work today and opened a Ps document that someone else had created. I don't know what I did (I'm a relatively new Ps user) and I don't even know how I ended up saving it. The document is floor plans overlaid on a site plan with logos, text. etc. (so, it's too complicated for my limited time and knowledge to be able to re-import the source document and re-format the entire thing). When I first opened the document, all the floor plans looked normal, but now, one no longer has a white background. The black outlines of the rooms are still there, but there's nothing underneath (I see the gray and white checkerboard background between the black outlines). I need to know how to make that area white again. It seems to me like maybe I deleted a layer... maybe... I don't know...? I can't just use the fill tool to fill white into the background space because (a) the entire shape is not closed, so applying a fill to one area fills the entire document and (b) I know that's not the right way to do it... I'm trying to get it back to the way it's supposed to be, not just make it look right because other people from work might still use the electronic file.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSeveral times when closing an IDW the image of the file reamains on the screen. The Tab for the file in the lower left hand corner dissapears but the image stil remains on the screen. You have to navigate to another open invnetor file in order for this image to dissapear. If you are not paying close attention you can inadvertantly close several files by repeatedly trying to close the "image" that is still on the screen. I am only seeing this on one of our workstations. Coulod this be a video card error or a setting?

I have 2 of 4 workstations with this issue, AutoCAD will automtically save the file when the files is closed, w/o any prompts to verify of we want to saved or not.
I have my Options|Autosave turned off, but this should not affect the save on close it should only create a continual ac$ backup file.
This is now the 2nd time this has occured. In early March we noticed this and in dealing with AutoCAD (Suscription Service) we finally deceided to restore AutoCAD to factory defaults, which did fix the issue at the time. However it also meant that I needed to retore all the pathways and our standards. Once completed, I paid particular attention to ensuring that AutoCAD was NOT saving the file on close and it was doing so up until earlier this week, when I noticed it SAVING on close again.
Now most of you might think, hey thats a good thing, however, we routinely will test modifications to our layouts on our working files, but dont want to actually modify those files and then we would simply close the drawing w/o saving thus ensuring that those mods were not saved.
In March, both 2007 & 2013 did this, however only my 2013 is affected now.
Trying to create a bit of code that when the 'OnNew Document' event is fired the code checks for a particular Custom Property. Depending on what the Custom Property is set to a form is then fired with relevant text to point the user to a specific area in the workspace. Al this works ok.
But if they press cancel i need the code close the activate 'Part1' which inturn then allows the user to select 'New' to begin again.
I have tried various scenarios but the main problem is that Inventor then crashes!

After downloading the Autodesk Inventor 2013, I was forced to download the hotfix. I completed the download, and started up Inventor. My force closed crash report directed me to the most updated update, which I then installed to no avail. I've sent an additional crash report, but I've yet to recieve any feedback. When I go to either load the .ipt blank file, or even close the welcome center tab (to be able to access the tools to troubleshoot) It shuts down.

I save a lot of files to "save for web". After saving PS asks if I want to save changes to the original file. I never want to save the changes to the original. Since the default is to change the file I am afraid I will accidentally OK the change without wanting to. I would like it to stop asking and just not save it. Is there a way?

When I go to insert another instance of an IFeature i get a message that says "cannot insert iFeature that is currently open for edit (see attached) The .ide file and the part used to extract the iFeature are both closed and not checked out of the vault.
The only workaround I know of is is to close the file and open it up again.
Say I have a model and some layouts in a file.
I open the file to the model. My RAM usage is about 33%. Next, I open the first layout and my usage climbs to 43%. I open the second layout and my usage climbs to 52%. I open the third layout and my usage climbs to 62%.
I can go back and view the layouts already opened marginally faster then when first opening them, and my RAM usage will not increase.
If I continue to open new layouts, my computer will spend all its RAM holding these and freeze. My computer will suspend graphical processing and be forced to run on sips of RAM until all active commands are finished. But RAM usage will never decrease.
I have been working with my Windows Task Manager open in the corner, watching this happen. This way, I can save and close the file to clear the RAM and then proceed to reload the file and continue working on my file with 34 layouts.
I do not know if it is a function of storing the UNDO functions, or just how the program is designed, but this is a problem for me.
QUESTION
Is there a way to clear the UNDO or layout memory without closing and reloading the file? I do not have to close AutoCAD - just the file.

I opened the file to the model.
Opened up 6 layouts (you can see the bumps)
Saved (you can see the tiny rise)
Closed the file, but not AutoCAD (precipitous drop ;] )
Lastly, I reloaded the file.

I have a problem importing text information from shp file to dwg. Using a command “Add to Map” I can see that shape file consists of Map Feature(s) objects and under Feature Properties there is an information that I need to move to Autocad environment (IGDS_TXT_;TEXTSTRING; TEXT_ANGLE). I’ve tried “mapimport” command but in result I’ve got only acad point objects with no information in it.

I periodically update a drawing prepared by a different department that includes up to +500 layers. I would like to include descriptive information as part of the layer state that includes directions how to change/modify individual layers. Can this information/tags be saved directly in the .las file? Is there a different method to do this, short of preparing a separate spreadsheet?

Obviously, cheating is a major issue (copying other files). Students are getting a bit more clever and can get around windows data (accessed/modified/created stamps). I think AutoCAD has more detailed information related to the dwg file that I can extract to compare files.

There is a section of hatch that was exploded at some point and I want to set the individual hatch lines back to a hatch grouping, but since it was done long ago, using the undo command is not an option. It there a way I can take all of the individual hatch lines and group them back into a hatch?
My goal is to get the individual hatch marks back to a hatch group so that way I can use the hatch editor to modify the hatch style. Is this possible?
I have a number of drawings that I am working on that I need to xref in image files for backgrounds. I am working in MEP 2013. Initially I am loading the xref via the insert tab then "attach" command. It loads fine, shows up , I clip and adjust its location in the dwg, save and plot and close the dwg. The next time I go to work on the dwg I cannot see the xref only the link and when I go to reload it wont let me. I receive the error "not found." I end up having to detach the file and start over. When I attach the xref I am using relative path and overlay options.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having this issue happen repeatedly, but not consistently. In a new file, I adjust the width of an mtext box so that the text wraps into multiple lines. When I next open the file, all mtext boxes are back at a wider width so that the text is all on one line. The start of the text is also usually in a different location. This was happening on 2011/XP and now on 2012/Windows7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using the undo command, plotting or switching between drawings in Autocad 2010 and now also 2011 I am experiencing long delays of up to 15-20 seconds at a time which is rather frustrating. I am running a fast spec computer and can't seem to overcome it, I haven't had the problem with 2009 and when need to do something quickly have found myself using the outdated software. Other users in the same office have equal or lesser spec computers and are not having the same issues, I have tried a re-install and this hasn't worked either. I was hoping the new 2011 version would solve this issue but no luck.
