AutoCAD LT :: 2012 Crashes When Closing File After Plotting?
Apr 22, 2011I frequently have AutoCAD LT crash on me when I close a file. It seems to happen most after I have plotted the drawing.

View 9 RepliesAfter downloading the Autodesk Inventor 2013, I was forced to download the hotfix. I completed the download, and started up Inventor. My force closed crash report directed me to the most updated update, which I then installed to no avail. I've sent an additional crash report, but I've yet to recieve any feedback. When I go to either load the .ipt blank file, or even close the welcome center tab (to be able to access the tools to troubleshoot) It shuts down.

why our copies of AutoCAD MEP 2012 seem to hang when loading the default dwt files? On the splash screen it details all the files being loaded and when it gets to the dwt file it just hangs at 0%. In the windows task manager, acad.exe stops using memory (around 90megs) and the cpu stops too. It's get's really frustrating, especially as it only seems to affect our new Dell Optiplex's and a couple of our old Dell Precisions. Some of them work first time every time, no probs. All PC's are Windows 7 Pro 64bit and running the latest service packs for AutoCAD.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI work with a national company that creates criteria drawings for new projects. They recently changed to the 2012 version but they save it down to 2007. There has not been an issue with opening files with my 2009 version until recently. All of the computers in our office are unable to open these new files, although they claim nothing has changed. My CAD will pop up a fatal error and shut down whenever I attempt to open the new files. I downloaded the 2013 trial version and saved the file down to the older version, but that does not work either. Newer versions do not seem to be affected by the files, just my 2009 version. I tried creating a new file in 2013 and saved down to 2007 format. When I try to open it 2009 there is no issue. besides purchasing a new version of AutoCAD?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a .dwg file from a saved location auto cad crashes about 35% of the way through loading. I did not have this problem when I was running Windowws XP but now I am running Windows 7.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am completely new to AutoCAD. I have been given a 2D DXF file with the design of an ion source. I have removed large parts of the design as I only need to electrode shapes.
I need to import the electrodes as a 2D DXF into my code to run simulations with them. However...
The code can read layers, and it searches for a closed loop within a layer and uses that to shape its electrodes. So I have isolated each electrode and saved them. The issue I'm having is the code finds no closed loops. Further investigation let me to the close, fillet, and boundary commands. Which I assumed would do the trick. However after a number of hours I am no closer to my goal.
I have isolated the problem to be linking a semi-circle to 2 lines. Because if I remove the semi-circle and replace with a straight line code will happily detect a closed loop. I have converted the entire thing into 1 polyline, and then to make sure its closed I have used the boundary command to create a polyline outline of the shape.
Even then, it is apparently not a closed loop. I was wondering if there is a glaringly obvious mistake I am making here, or if it comes down to resolution within the code. I'm looking into part 2
We sold a customer a new Dell Precision Laptop - i7 16GB Memory, 512GB Solid State hard drive, Windows 7 64bit. He had upgraded to AutoCad 2013 from 2006. Since installing the laptop when he closes out of a drawing Autocad crashes, windows reports that the program had unexpectedly quit. It doesn't do it all of the time, but it could have something to do with multiple drawings, plotting etc, but it's not an easy one to generate. He does have an older plotter - DesignJet 500 that's installed through a network share off of another computer however I did completely remove the printer / driver and the issue was still occuring.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSubject pretty much sums it up. AutoCAD will crash 8 out of 10 times when I close a sheet set. This problem just recently started and the only thing I've installed was AutoCAD Map 3D.

We are currently using autocad 2013 LT on windows 7 64bit. The program runs a bit slower than 2012 but the main issue is as follows.
when closing a drawing or multiple drawings (wether they have been recently saved or not) autocad will go into a "not responding" mode and then crash out. This happens at about 70% of the time and is completely random. It may crash a drawing one time but not the next time you are in the same drawing, or when closing multiple drawings may allow you to save some of them when cad closes but then crashes before all of them are saved. We have all of the current updates and fixes. We had the same issue with 2012 but not nearly as often.
autocad LT 2008 on windows 7 platform
after using this with only minor crashes for the last year I have now got problems with closing drawings which then locks autocad up and if someone else opens the file in the same program on windows xp then it crashes there program too while closing. I have tried redraw the drawing model file and produce a new drawing sheet exactly the same but it still crashes on saving of the file and have now noticed that any drawing i'm creating now does exactly the same. I have also completely reinstalled autocad LT 2008 to try to fix this problem but with no success. Has there been an update either with windows 7 or autocad that might have caused this problem and how to resolve this problem as I am now left with a computer thats useless to draw upon and rather not install an older version of windows just to resolve this problem after it running fine for over a year now.
If I have several drawings open at the same time and have done work to some of them, at the end of the day I just pick the AutoCAD application "close" button (the "X" in the top-right corner of the window) and I'm prompted "Save changes to <drawing>?" for each of the drawings.
Unfortunately, most of the times I do this in AC2011, AutoCAD crashes. The next time I open AutoCAD, it initiates the recover but all the changes have been saved in the *.dwg file.
I know this is not the best way to save and close drawings but it has never been a problem.
Running AutoCAD 2013 on Windows 7 64-bit OS Dell desktop.Whenever I plot 1 in 4 of the times, AutoCAD freezes, usually crashing. Happens both when either typing the command or using pulldown option.Freezes before I get a chance to choose which printer/plotter but plotting with HP Designjet T1120.
I am assuming downloading the HP Universal driver wouldn't do me any good. I am not crashing after I send anything to plot, but before, immediately after the 'Plot' window comes up, it freezes.
I need to be able to import the airfoil geometry of a NACA 2412 airfoil. I know how to get the XY coordinates but I don't know how to import these points (as a .txt file?) into ACAD. What function would I use? Spline? If so how do I get it to draw all the points I have? I need to then extrude the shape to be able to mill airfoil sections...that part I can figure out....just need to import the points to get a nice curve.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter I plot to pdf, I get an error message: You do not have a PDF viewing application installed. Go to the internet and dowload a pdf viewer. The problem is that Acrobat Reader X is installed on my computer. I saw the thread about Reader X having spooling issues, so I reinstalled Acrobat Reader 9. Still get the same message.I can go to the file afterwards and open it, despite this message, but it is supposed to open from Architecture after it is plotted and it won't do that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy company just got new computers, I've loaded 2012 SP1 and our lisp comands on every machine. After a plot, when someone goes to save and close the drawing, AutoCAD crashes. It does not matter which plot device is used, the result is the same. This includes the plot devices included in AutoCAD. I have reinstalled autocad on one machine, no lisp commands, same result. I have already tried some of the fixes proposed in other threads, nothing has worked.

While batch plotting to a multi page PDF in AutoCad 2012 using Adobe Acrobat:
My pages come out with a blank / empty viewport,
The title block is on the page and nothing else plots on the page.
This is only happening with one of the files I am working in. Other DWGs are PDFing normal.
I have a Dell 515 plotter printer connected to a network computer. I can print to it from other programs, but as of this evening, when I select the printer, the screen goes white and autocad dies. I can print to a pdf or even select another printer that is not even turned on. This also happens when the 515 is set as the default and I select print to default system printer.
this has happened before and It seemed like a lucky fluke that i got it to stop. something about the order of change scale, preview, change plotter etc, but no luck this time.
I am currently running map 3d 2012 and my co-worker is running 2013. When she plots in paperspace, there is text that gets plotted that is outside of her viewport. When I open up the drawing on my computer, it plots perfectly. I attached a clip of it, the thick black is our drawing border, the viewport is where the color stops.

View 3 Replies View Relatedproblem when plotting files that have PDF images attached to them and are viewed through a viewport. When plotting, the publishing bar fills up but then stays filled and doesnt disappear. At this point AutoCAD is locked up and I see the file starts spooling. I have several PDF files attached that amount to no more than 500 kb, however, when spooling it racks up to 30mb before in sends it off to the plotter and it takes a very lenghtly wait (up to 60 min). Eventually it plots and sometimes it doesn't plot at all. After a while if I try cancelling the plot, it will start plotting but only half of the page and after that the entire operating system will lockup. We have several machines (6) and 2 plotters in a network and the plotters are shared. Is there a better and faster way to work with PDF xrefs? Could this be a networking problem instead of AutoCAD?

I either have bad settings or have found a bug in 2012 when plotting parcels.
I have a P-drain Parcel setting for major drainage areas - I set the display to the C-PROP-BNDY layer which seems to be OOB for the entire 'property'. I create the parcels from poly lines on the P-DRAIN-AREA layer.
The parcels go to the C-PROP layer. My problem is that I can't seem to get the property lines to plot. I try to set C-PROP-BNDY to the correct color, yet when I plot, the lines don't show.
I have been having this issue for a few weeks, where my contour lines will not plot in paper space, but the labels do. If I plot from model space everything shows up. All layers have been checked and nothing is frozen or turned off in the viewport.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen plotting profile plan sheets, there is an error in the scaling of the grids. I can not seem to figure out why the plotter is not plotting correctly. I did try creating a pdf of the plan sheet and plotting, but still have the same scale error. It starts to get off scale after about 500 feet, so the error in scale is small, but still there. It is off by about 2 or 3 feet at 500 feet on the profile grid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedClient machines are windows7 64bit sp1.Having issues with one plotter at this point-- HP DesignJet T1200 HD MFP.
.This plotter worked fine with AutoCAD 2013 Autodesk software uses windows printer objects for printing not pc3s.
Plotter driver is the newest hpgl2 off hp's website for that plotter.
So far crashes when attempting to plot from autocad and revit. Gets the attached message.
When I plot to paper from TV2012, I'm good with monochrome - black lines, white background - awesome.
I would *like*, however, to plot a few things to PDF, but retain the view I have on my display - I.E., lines/labels of various colors and a BLACK background. I've been poking around for a bit, and if there's a way to make that setting, I'm no finding it. Everything I try has gotten me colored lines/labels on a white background.
On PC_71, While ploting(creating the pdf via autocad) the pdf,its everytime coming in portait format but we want in landscape format.
On PC_71, if we create the pdf of any document by our Adobe pdf printer PRT13 then its creating pdf properly for both portait and landscape format . But for any autocad drawing file , the pdf printer PRT13 is not creating in landscape format.
I also cross-checked all plot setting with other proper working PC , its same then also its behave differently.
And if we create pdf on any other PC then its creating the pdf properly for any drawing but not on PC_71.
Also 1 more typical point I noticed that if we delete any pdf file from PC_71, then after refreshing its again appeared on same location.

I have a brand new HP Probook 4530s with the correct requirements to run LT 2012 as well as a certified and tested graphics card and latest drivers, but as soon as I try using offset or trim functions while drawing, my screen goes blank for about 4 seconds and an error message below tells me my Display Driver has stopped working and has recovered.
No matter the screen resolution settings, it still does the same, also the laptop is still cool, so can't be a heat issue.
My work helpdesk has recently installed AutoCad 2012 and my co worker and I noticed that at the start up its loads very slowly and often when we double click on a DWG to open (without Autocad being already open) it crashes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAutoCAD C3D 2012 has been crashing nonstop over the past 3 days on me whenever I try to "Create a Feature Line from Object". I know that it is a localized problem as a co-worker has been in the same drawing and done grading work without any problems. The error has occurred in multiple drawings.

We are running Autocad 2012 on Windows 7 and printing to an HP5200 via server mapping in three different labs.
Had a similar problem before and changed the printer drivers from Universal back to PCL5. Since Christmas however this problem seems to have come back. We haven't changed anything. Wondering if maybe there were patches or something that affected this?? When we preview or send a print job Autocad just greys out and crashes. I do know that if we configure the computer to print via TCPIP it also works fine but this is not ideal with the number of computers and students we have.
Another thing we seemed to have noticed is that we don't have this problem with all printers but more oddly we noticed that when we change the default template some templates work and some don't.
By default we are set up to use the acadiso template as we are using the metric system - we can't get anything to plot using this. If we start with the standard acad template we do not have this problem. We have tried plotting a simple circle or a more complex drawing with the same result. The sample files plot fine but I'm guessing they were likely not done in metric...
