View 9 RepliesI have a model where i need to make a solid fill between some surfaces to get a solid 3D model.
I have attached the a pic of the drawing showing where i want to fill. I have tried using LOFT but it doesn't fill or it creates a solid cone instead. The thing i need is the "negative" for a cone. I have also tried to use Shell after LOFT created a cone, but that didn't work either.
Suddenly I can't use Solid hatch. I tells me "Unable to update the solid fill" when I try to change a hatch pattern to Soild. And when I try to Hatch with Solid it tells me "Unable to fill the boundary with solid". I'm hatching a basic PLine Rectangle (all corners joined). Worked fine yesterday.

I would like to know if it is possible to turn a solid fill area into a transparent appearance.
This is in a 2D drawing.
This drawing only consists of Data Connected .shp files. The polygon styles all have a different color solid fill. Transparencies are set differently for each. I thought that may have been an issue because the two layers that plot good every time are set to zero, but another layer that plots bad is also set to zero.
To give you a visual, my drawing indicates the entire state of Michigan (UP & LP) with the Great Lakes. Layout tab 1 shows the entire drawing in landscape orientation. Layout tab 2 is rotated counter-clockwise and zoomed in on the LP. Layout tab 2 is where my problem occurs. The plot indicates a chunky diagonal area through the state showing the color & line content, but the remaining area within the state is blank. Comparing two bad prints, I realized that even though the diagonal area prints on both, they have slightly different "coverage". They also plot different lines in different locations. Why would rotating the viewport cause a problem like this!?
The plot preview displays correctly though.
Plotting from the model space works fine. Why won't it work in paperspace?
I'm finding a problem with solid fill, drawn in model space its fine, but viewed through a viewport and all I see is the outline of it in wireframe.
I'm not having this problem on other drawings, it's limited to this file, but a colleague has also had as well it so not my workstation. This narrows it down to this specific drawing being the problem.
As regards variables, FILL = 1, FILLMODE=1.
It is just solid objects with the problem, polylines with a width display OK as does fill text.
When I try to fill a figure using gradient i get: "Unable to fill the boundary with solid." But when I try to fill the figure using hatch I get it to work. The problem is I want to use gradient.

step 1) I remove the background of my image with the color to alpha method, isolating the part of the image i want.
step 2) I then use color select tool to select all the transparent area that was left behind from step 1.
step 3) I create a new layer.
step 4) Then I use the bucket fill tool to fill in the area on the 2nd layer that was selected in step 2.
This is where I run into trouble. On some pixels where the color filling meets dotted line area (made by color select tool) the color comes out translucent. I don't want this to happen. I want it to be solid ff00ff (color hex) without the random reductions in opacity.
I'm working with sprites and the emulator i use has ff00ff as transparent. I'm getting random pink color coming out of the edges of my sprites. These little specks of pink should not be appearing in game because it is supposed to be read as transparent. i suspect that these specks coming out are related to these translucent hiccups made in gimp.
I am trying to create logo's as blocks to insert into title blocks efficiently. I made the outline of the first logo and hatched it as a solid hoping it would print as a flat black but it is showing up as streaky, almost as if I used a different hatch at an extremely small scale. I don't think it is a printer issue because even when printed to .pdf format it still shows up as streaky.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a fairly big one-off for use at our factory so am going the multibody ipt route. I have a design view setup within the ipt with nearly all solids switched off but when working within a sketch this seems to be ignored. I want to make sure I am projecting from sketches not bodies so if I need to tweak things later and bodies change the model won't fail.
I.e. the bodies all become visible when working in a sketch where as before going into the sketch the bodies weren't showing.

I would like to create a wavy line (the zigzag feature is not exactly what I need here) to outline a shape and then fill it with a solid color.
This is approx what I want; however the undulation needs to be more round and less peaked.
When having the eyedropper tool selected, holding Shift is a shortcut to only copy the stroke or fill (depending which is up). I noticed that when I tried to copy a fill like this, it would not work. In the image, I tried copying only the fill of the red circle, and applying it to the one with a transparent fill. The circle with the transparent fill in this image is selected, but the color swatch is saying that the fill is red.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSuddenly having an issue where the "Fill" command is not working. It doesn't matter if I use Shift+Backspace or Shift+F5 or by going to Edit>Fill. It goes through the motions and the Fill action is recorded in the history panel, but the layer is not filled. The only way I've successfully filled is with the Paint Bucket, and that's just not as convenient.

I have an image that has a white background but that darkens in the immediate neighborhood of the image in question. So I do a bucket fill (red) with the threshold of 15 that sets the entire white(ish) area to red. So far so good. But then when I switch to fill this red area to white with the same threshold, I find small pixels of red adjacent to the image. I don't see how that is happening since the first fill set the entire filled region to one color (red) and I would expect that the second fill would completely replace all red with my new color (white).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI draw a line with the pen tool, right click and then 'stroke' the pen line with a brush (for example). I imagine I've done this successfully thousands of times but for some reason it just isn't working today (or yesterday actually!). When I right click then go down to 'stroke' nothing happens at all.
However it does work if I go into the 'paths' palette, right click on 'work path' and stroke the pen line with the brush.
I have created a compound path in illustrator and when I try to make a clipping mask, rather than revealing the image behind the path, the shape is filled with solid white. I am able to successfully make the mask using one shape or the other, but once I create the compound path, I just get this white fill.
I am in CS5 on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard). See screenshots below.

ive selected and highlighted a visible normal layer at full opacity in normal blend mode.
right click the path and choose fill path... I have a colour selected already,

The color swatches in toolbar for fill and stroke are not functioning as they should. When I select an object on the artboard, the swatches display fine in the toolbar for what they should be. However, when I double-click on those swatches from within the toolbar to modify the color, the color which comes up is #000000 instead of the actual color it should be.
I am using 16.2.1 (cloud) for Mac OS 10.8.2
I've submitted a bug report.
Also, the eyedropper tool is buggy and occasionally places the #000000 into an object instead of the characteristics the eyedropper is selecting. I don't have any hidden layers or weird groupings, it just randomly decides when it is going to work or not.
I've never had these issues on previous versions of illustrator and have been proficient in all versions since 2007.
In my CorelDraw X6 64bit (v16.3.0.1114) the Hue/Saturation/Lightness adjustment effect is not working on vector fills, but its fine on bitmaps in CorelDraw X6 and Photo Paint X6 as well.
It's not effective even after trying F8 reset.
Is there any solution to get its functionality back for vector fills also?

We have this need to have all of the solids in a drawing to be placed in the "solid" layer.
Sometimes folks are drafting lines to develop these solids, and keeping the lines on the "solid" layer, rather than moving them to another layer, or deleting them altogether.
I could get folks to run this command before leaving the drawing.
I'm thinking something along the lines of:
Select all entities that are on the solids layer that are not solids.
If nil, great, do nothing.
If entities are selected, let me do something with them.
I'm hoping the following can be modified ever so slightly.

I'm trying to split a single solid body into 2 solid bodies. The problem is that the body I'm trying to split consists of two separate pieces. I can split a body when it is a single piece no problem, but I'm having the problem when the two pieces are not joined at all.
When I try and split it on the origin plane it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Could not build this Split"
When I try and split it on a work plane lying on one of the pieces it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs."
Or, another variation on this erorr:
"Creating parting line failed. Split feature could not create two bodies. Change the Split Tool so that split feature can create two bodies."
I have a.3ds file imported into Civil 3d. The object imported as a polymesh in Civil 3d. I need the solid 3d object to do some edit like slice or union and subtract.
The question is "How can I import .3ds into Civil 3d as a solid objects or hoe can i convert polymesh to solid?"
I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

Attached is the Untitle.jpg, to make more clearer to you. Blue is the wall and skyblue is the aquarium. I want the back and the front of the aquarium don't have any line in the middle but even I do shade command the fill of the color is still there.
