When I try to fill a figure using gradient i get: "Unable to fill the boundary with solid." But when I try to fill the figure using hatch I get it to work. The problem is I want to use gradient.
View 1 RepliesI often use gradient cylindrical fill to paint pipes, however if gradient has to fill wide boundry it gets distorted, i found the way of making a short block and scaling it, gradient fill is consistent. It's ok but i want to make a dynamic block out of it and i cant, also if i explode this block gradient fill problem reappears (see pic)
Basicly i want similar looking hatch but without problem.
I am having issues with files in Acad that were originally created as VWX files. The boundary command will not work on solid objects from a top view as it does with Acad created objects. Also, I cannot dimension any rounded surfaces because they are splines. Are there any workarounds to these issues?

And when I try to Hatch with Solid it tells me "Unable to fill the boundary with solid". I'm hatching a basic PLine Rectangle (all corners joined). Worked fine yesterday.

every time I try to hatch it come up with ‘Unable to hatch the boundary’ and it does this with all hatches except the SOLID hatch, why this is!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a scan of a pencil sketch as my background image. What I want to do is convert to colour image then, eventually, lose the pencil lines. For starters I would like to know how to flood fill an area with colour then get rid of the area's boundary line. I guess a valid solution might be along one of the following lines:
1. Flood fill, depositing the colour in one layer but using a boundary line in a different one.
2. Copy the sketch to another layer, fill the areas then somehow delete the lines.
3. Flood fill in one layer then copy the block of colour only, not the surrounding line, and paste into another layer. Any suggestions? As of a week ago I'd never used Photoshop so don't assume I know anything.
I found an interesting dynamic block. It has a clipping boundary but you can drag the 'leg' out of the boundary. How can I make such block?

I have a model where i need to make a solid fill between some surfaces to get a solid 3D model.
I have attached the a pic of the drawing showing where i want to fill. I have tried using LOFT but it doesn't fill or it creates a solid cone instead. The thing i need is the "negative" for a cone. I have also tried to use Shell after LOFT created a cone, but that didn't work either.
while i open any cad files, its solid fill is needs to get enabled each time i open each files. is ther anyway to keep the solid fills remains on.

I would like to know if it is possible to turn a solid fill area into a transparent appearance.
This is in a 2D drawing.
This drawing only consists of Data Connected .shp files. The polygon styles all have a different color solid fill. Transparencies are set differently for each. I thought that may have been an issue because the two layers that plot good every time are set to zero, but another layer that plots bad is also set to zero.
To give you a visual, my drawing indicates the entire state of Michigan (UP & LP) with the Great Lakes. Layout tab 1 shows the entire drawing in landscape orientation. Layout tab 2 is rotated counter-clockwise and zoomed in on the LP. Layout tab 2 is where my problem occurs. The plot indicates a chunky diagonal area through the state showing the color & line content, but the remaining area within the state is blank. Comparing two bad prints, I realized that even though the diagonal area prints on both, they have slightly different "coverage". They also plot different lines in different locations. Why would rotating the viewport cause a problem like this!?
The plot preview displays correctly though.
Plotting from the model space works fine. Why won't it work in paperspace?
I'm finding a problem with solid fill, drawn in model space its fine, but viewed through a viewport and all I see is the outline of it in wireframe.
I'm not having this problem on other drawings, it's limited to this file, but a colleague has also had as well it so not my workstation. This narrows it down to this specific drawing being the problem.
As regards variables, FILL = 1, FILLMODE=1.
It is just solid objects with the problem, polylines with a width display OK as does fill text.
i need to know if there is any way to control the points in the point cloud.
1. either only import the point cloud in a polyline area i specify
2. add all the points within a boundary not limited to the pointclouddensity = 100, freaking default is 15 almost cost my job today. extremely stressed out right now.
i am talking about extreme lidar surveys. 1km 1km LAS/0.5m contours/xyz files times 355 of them. covers a 2km wide corridor. but i only need 100m wide after i define the road alignment. no need to have all the extra points.
right now i densify the heck out of it and end up like 5-12m points. decent but not good enough because the geotech is bitching about that accuracy is not good for some feasibility study. or is there any software i can do this besides civil 3d.
what i want can also do is automate the 'add points to surface" under point cloud and have the software do multiple boundaries without having me baby it over the night. right now every click is 5 minutes and adds like 400k to 1 million points. Civil 3D 2012
I am trying to make a rounded corner frame, sides about an inch wide, with a black gradient fill that fades onto the inner edges of the frame. This may be a bit hard to visualize, but I can post an example, if someone will tell me how to post photos.
I can do the frame with rounded corners; just can't get the gradient to fade out onto all sides of the frame. Gradients have always given me trouble.

When i give the gradient fill to the other rectangle the fill spills over to the whole working area. I tried locking the other layers but no use.

This image has been saved as .xcf before closing down Gimp. When I reopen the image, I don't see any way to remove the gradient fill so that I'm just left with the selection.

In Illustrator CS4:
I need to fill 20 circles with one common grad fill... so that the 1st circle is dark to the 20th as lightest (NOT each individual circle getting it's own gradient).
I create a new layer and fill it with black. Then I make a new layer and make a marquee selection. Within the marquee selection, I fill the new layer with a color to transparent gradient fill. I then take the new gradient layer and warp it using the "FLAG" preset.
I adjust the bend to 20% and commit the warp/transformation. I get the curve I want, but right in the middle of the curve, running straight up the layer, is a solid line of pixels. It's almost as if, that one little line missed out on both the gradient itself as well as the warp effect.
I want to take a photograph and have it go from transparent to solid opacity. I believe the gradient tool can do that (maybe) but I don't want any color, just have the transparent blend to solid.

If I place this background behind the gradient filled square, the square looks grayish and will print this way. Instead what I want is for the gradient filled square to show the color of the background rather than gray.
If I print the old and weathered background first and then run the paper through the printer again with the gradient filled square, it has the effect I want. Is there a way to do get this effect without having to print the background first and then print it again?
Even starting with a clean slate 400x400 white background, my gradient tool wont fill! The fill bucket works fine, not the gradient. I've selected 5 or so different shades, everything, no luck. I'm in Normal blend mode, 100% opacity etc. I dont see why I cant apply a gradient! Dont know if this will help but when mousing over with the gradient tool, the cursor turns into a small "+" for some reason.....

If this was a linear gradient I could just position the start and end points to reverse it but since its circular I must swap the start and end to retain the circular effect.
View 6 Replies View Relateda photo in xara is actually a bitmap filled shape, so if you just try applying another fill, eg linear, it will replace the bitmap completely
so what you need to do is draw a rectangle over the photo - apply the fill you want to the rectangle - and then give it a transparency of type hue
now come the reservations - hue transparency has no affect on black/white/grey-tones, so you may not end up with an even fill as you can see from the example
you may wish to contone the bitmap first... the underlying color will still affect the fill to some extent... as can be seen from the green band in the examples..
the chosen fill ramp gives a rather nice effect on the original I think, but is a bit extreme on the contones...
[I find it useful for adding gradient color to raster line art, sometimes quicker than going into a bitmap editor and painting on color whilst preserving transparency...]
I want to create a gradient fill, top to bottom of some text.To do this, I'm creating my text in a solid colour (can't seem to find a gradient fill on the text tool), then wand selecting the background inverting the selection then applying a gradient.
Unfortunately, applying the fill seems to make the text lose all smoothness (anti-aliasing?).I've tried feathering (using Boltbait) but even at 1 it's too aggressive and the text ends up too skinny.
How to maintain the anti-aliasing but also have a gradient.
