AutoCad :: Boundary Command Will Not Work On Solid Objects
Oct 16, 2013I am having issues with files in Acad that were originally created as VWX files. The boundary command will not work on solid objects from a top view as it does with Acad created objects. Also, I cannot dimension any rounded surfaces because they are splines. Are there any workarounds to these issues?

When I try to use the command on an object, the object is raised but not filled. It looks sort of like a fence/outline around the border of the object with a grid pattern.

Jan 2, 2013I've been putting up with this problem for a while. I have a certified 3D device with a driver version that is certified (Quadro 4000) but the active viewport boundary highlight is out of place. The white lines in this image are my viewport boundary highlight which is out of position. This only seems to happen when I turn off the viewport layer. If the viewport layer is on the highlight appears as expected.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Boundary Command Eliminates Vertices?
Aug 24, 2012Is there a way to specify simplification of a line when doing the Boundary Command? I notice that if I zoom out further that some vertices are eliminated in curves. How I can guarantee that the boundary is exactly the same as the plines that I specify.

Mar 1, 2012I have a user in my group that is hesitant to upgrade to 2012 because , he has many lisp routines that are associated with the PREVIOUS selection feature. This selection is very useful in that when you are moving or selecting many objects you can enter P for previous and the object will be selected.
In 2009, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command requesting to use the Previous, AutoCAD will remember the last selected object and then highlight it.
In 2012, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command using P for previous, it will not highlight the previous object selected but will highlight the previous object where a command was executed on.
Hope I haven't lost you. It seems there should be a setting under SELECTION of how to manipulate the Previous selection feature.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Query Point Cloud Boundary Then Add All Points Within Boundary
Nov 9, 2012i need to know if there is any way to control the points in the point cloud.
1. either only import the point cloud in a polyline area i specify
2. add all the points within a boundary not limited to the pointclouddensity = 100, freaking default is 15 almost cost my job today. extremely stressed out right now.
i am talking about extreme lidar surveys. 1km 1km LAS/0.5m contours/xyz files times 355 of them. covers a 2km wide corridor. but i only need 100m wide after i define the road alignment. no need to have all the extra points.
right now i densify the heck out of it and end up like 5-12m points. decent but not good enough because the geotech is bitching about that accuracy is not good for some feasibility study. or is there any software i can do this besides civil 3d.
what i want can also do is automate the 'add points to surface" under point cloud and have the software do multiple boundaries without having me baby it over the night. right now every click is 5 minutes and adds like 400k to 1 million points. Civil 3D 2012

Apr 27, 2011The problem I'm having is presspull/extrude irregular shapes.
I have some really weird, irregular shapes that's consisted of fillets, lines, and arcs. For some reason I cannot REGION it. But I can HATCH it, and give it a solid inner part.
My irregular after being filled, can't be extruded. When I try extruding it, the command line goes "This kind of shape cannot be extruded", without any explanation, or keywords.
Then, if I try to PressPull, it only PressPull the outline of the irregular shape, without pulling out the inner bulk part.
Then if I try to do anything more, my AutoCad likes to go "About to regen -- proceed?" error.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Angular Presspull Or Material Removed At An Angle
Oct 29, 2012I have a 2D drawing that I used presspull to give the correct depth to. Now I have to make modifications to it that are angular to the presspull direction and am not sure that presspull is the correct way to do it. I've searched around for vids and have looked at quite a few, but am stumped. Don't know if I need to change the orientation so that the angle I want to cut is the direction for presspull or if I am simply looking at the problem wrong. If I knew how to take a screenshot, I would post some so that it would be clear how inept I am.

Oct 24, 2012I used a 2d polyline to create a surface boundary for a surface created. The polyline is a closed loop. For the boundary type it is outer, unchecked Non-destructive breakline, and mid-ordinate distance = 1.
My problem is that when I do this I only get a small portion of the surface to show up within my surface boundary. If I don't have a surface boundary the entire drawing surface shows up no problem.
The purple polyline is my boundary and the light blue is the surface created within the boundary.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Extend Command Doesn't Work
Mar 10, 2012I have a 3d drawing file which I manually flattened except the section. The ground plan is at 0 Z axis.
Now I am trying to draw lines on top of it, and I cannot extend my lines. Any solution to this?
Additional question:
I also had some difficulties when I was trying to flatten the 3d model. "Flatten" command did not work. I understand Flatshot did not work because these are not solids. But why Flatten did not work? That was why I had to manually change start and end of z position.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Open Command Doesn't Work
Apr 27, 2010the user is running C3D. He can only open a drawing if its in the previously open files list or he can open with Explorer. If he clicks the open toolbar or selects open from the menu or even types it at the command prompt, nothing happens. It seems to be trying to do something because the command prompt doesn't come back unless he escapes. If he instead hits enter, he gets a message that says it can't find the file specified - even though he never got a chance to specify anything. It's not FILEDIA and he has rebooted. It's also not hiding the open dialog box behind the acad screen.
