View 9 RepliesIt happens during many different commands. The command itself doesn't seem to affect this problem. It doesn't always happen, but every so often, as I'm in the middle of a command, when I scroll past a contour line the program freezes. Sometimes it comes back to life after a few seconds of thinking, but sometimes it just sits there non-responsive forever.
Possible ideas:
-Contour Labels set to "Mask Contour Line Only"
-Dynamic Inputs on
-Selection Preview is on (but it's disabled for "When a command is active")
-Surface is shortcutted into the drawing
-Contours are from an XREF

I need to reproduce wavy contour (blueprint) lines which will follow the undulating landscape on a lot of images I have. As per the attachment, they almost have a neon glow and are in a grid format. I can do a grid but adding the wave filter doesn't allow me to adapt it to suit the pic.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am creating a 'How to' diagram using illustrations from a previous artist. As such I need to recreate his way of creating image gradients. He seems to do it by using only a small amount of gradient steps creating quite block like gradients. Like this: How would I go about getting my smooth gradients like this? At the moment I am creating a smooth gradient filled object, expanding it then specifying the steps in the dialogue box that then appears. But this does not really recreate the same gradient (please see as follows):So my question is how this artist has done this? As the gradients also seem to follow the contours of the object.

View 2 Replies View Relatedthe user is running C3D. He can only open a drawing if its in the previously open files list or he can open with Explorer. If he clicks the open toolbar or selects open from the menu or even types it at the command prompt, nothing happens. It seems to be trying to do something because the command prompt doesn't come back unless he escapes. If he instead hits enter, he gets a message that says it can't find the file specified - even though he never got a chance to specify anything. It's not FILEDIA and he has rebooted. It's also not hiding the open dialog box behind the acad screen.

i created point with proper values of easing and northing but after array easing northing values becomes just -19.
why the label command does not work in the 2007 LandDesktop ...Instead I just get the error "AEC_CIVIL_ NONASSOCAUTOLABEL".

View 4 Replies View Relatedwe are missing tool in SAC for stripping a surface exactly the same way how Stripping Pavement or Striping TopSoil works. There is no tool to copy and vertical offset part of the surface. I found out some workaround with Point Delta X on Surface and then vertical Offset, but this is very complicated and I am not able to follow each peak of the surface. Surface link is not suitable for Topsoil stripping.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to draw or stretch a line or grip along an object in 2013 it does not follow the osnap like it does in 2012. For instance if I draw a line and then want to draw another line from the beginning of that line along that line using the nearest osnap and inputting a distance, the line follows the cursor rather than the snap.

I am trying to create a pressure pipe network (right now I have 2 pipes) and have it follow a surface. When I click to follow surface it lowers the vertices but does not add any additional vertices to make the entire pipe network 5' below surface. My pipe lengths are set to 18' and the surface I want to use is set in my network properties.

The centerline of the street is my assembly target profile and alignment. I do not want to create an alignment for the curb. The curb profile is based on the centerline alignment. I can't figure out how to get a link that will track the curb profile at the face of curb.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAm trying to create a corridor datum surface that goes around Protruding lanes but it seems I am Short on knowledge here. the outer lane, LaneOutSideSuper has a greater thickness than the inner lane (same sub assembly) and I would like my datum surface (actually, not only the datum surface but other layer surfaces) to attach its self around the bottom links of both surfaces but it shoots from the Crown_sub to the outer lane Datum.
I have used the bottom links overhang and adding feature lines to the surfaces but it doesn't seem to cut it. Attached is an illustration of the section view. The top figure is what I hope to get and below is what i seem to get.
So, I really like the ability to have a pressure network pipe follow a surface but, what if I no longer want the pipe to follow the surface? Is there any way I can get rid of all the extra grips that are added to the pipe in the profile? The only way thing I've come up with is to delete the pipe and recreate it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen generating a line of contour labels with Contour-Multiple, most of the labels are orientated properly but some of them on the line are rotated 180 degrees. Why aren't they ALL orientated in the same direction?
Also, sometimes, all of them will be orientated in the wrong direction such that they are, essentially, upside down. Is this a bug or is there a setting to adjust?
I have recreated two surfaces for my design, existing and proposed. I had used polylines for contours for in each surface. I tried labeling the contours but it will not let me select the contour itself.
I then tried to make the contours to 3d polylines and again added them to the surface and rebuilt. I still am not allowed to label the contour since it doesn't let me select the polyline. I am able to select the surface however.
When I create a grid from our OSIP DEM files the contours come in as a block. I usually do 1' and 5' contours. I would like to break these so that when I select a 1' contour it will show up individually with elevation data still attached. If you select one now, it selects the entire grid. If you explode it, you lose the grid file. Is there a way to do this or will a just have to label the contours so I know where I am at?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using Civil3D 2012 and have a drawing that will not allow me to add Contour Labels.
Unable to create contour labels
Issue You were unable to create contour labels. When you tried to create a single contour label, you could not select any of the contour lines of a surface. When you tried to create multiple contour labels, the contour label line disappeared after you selected the second point.
I have a client that just started using C3D 2010. When I sent him a topographic survey with contour lines (I am also using C3D 2010) he called me and asked if there was a way to select an individual contour line and have it display the elevation in the 'properties' dialog box. I have not been able to find an answer for him.

I have a drawing set to UTM83 Zone 14 Meters and my drawing units is set to meters also. I created my surface from my point cloud. When i do the contour extract feature (surface object extract), the contours elevation is in the wrong datum or elevation? The surface contour is 620 but the same extracted contour says 188.97? Curious why this happens. It seems to me that it is back calculate elevation or datum to a different coodinate system.

View 8 Replies View Relatedhow does one go about truncating surface contour elevation labels so they only show up to the tens place on the left side of the decimal (i.e. 50.25 instead of 5150.25)? View 6 Replies View RelatedWe recently received a LiDAR data in the form of an .asc file. Brought it fine into Civil 3d.
However, the level data is in mm so levels are showing as 98450 instead of 98.45. The level ranges from 98450 to 166260.
When I create a surface and set the style to show contours, it only displays contour lines below 100,000. Is this a limit in Civil 3D or am I missing some setting somewhere? I'm using the UKIE template btw.
I’m having some issues with my CAD. Every now and then, my contour lines disappear and I can’t get them to reappear. My surface border and triangles will appear but not the contours. Sometimes if I change surface styles they will appear but other times they are gone forever.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIt must be the medication, but I just can't remember something I learned in the last couple weeks regarding contour label intervals. I've been using C3d 2013 for about a year now and had used LDD 2004 until the upgrade. I've become pretty comfortable with the styles based implementation now.
What exactly controls the numeric value shown in a contour label? I've got them looking fine on my site. I imported my styles and settings to a coworkers site but for the life of me I cannot remember what I had to change to get the contour labels to show increments of 1 foot (they were showing fractions of a foot)… Typing the word "fractions" triggered my recall. The problem and solution was in the drawing units.(Inches vs feet).
How much time I spent looking through the style settings in search of the one setting I was missing... both times! One of the best ways to push things from short term memory into long term memory is "Increased active practice".
One thing I learned this time: The style settings are not always the source of the problem. It could be something very basic. It may save time to check the basics first.
