AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Network - Don't Follow Surface Anymore

Jan 31, 2013

So, I really like the ability to have a pressure network pipe follow a surface but, what if I no longer want the pipe to follow the surface? Is there any way I can get rid of all the extra grips that are added to the pipe in the profile? The only way thing I've come up with is to delete the pipe and recreate it.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Pipes Follow A Surface

Aug 22, 2013

I am trying to create a pressure pipe network (right now I have 2 pipes) and have it follow a surface. When I click to follow surface it lowers the vertices but does not add any additional vertices to make the entire pipe network 5' below surface. My pipe lengths are set to 18' and the surface I want to use is set in my network properties.

Is there some way a person can export the pressure network in c3d 2014 to a 3d model (3ds,revit,IMX)?  IThis can be done with the sewer network but no joy on the pressure network. I would really like to use Infrastructure modeller to assist in the design of our project.

I really like the new tool for pressure networks, but the fact that I cant export a 3d model.

How would I connect the network in order to create an alignment? (the pipe network has got a command to do that)

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Network Not Drawing

Jun 20, 2013

I am trying to create a pressure network with 1.8m cover. I haven't created one before but I've read up and understand how to do it. I have created a new network and referenced it to a surface and alignment, using the default parts catalog, and changed cover to 1.8m. I pick pipes and bends or pipes only and start to draw. It asked for an insertion point and I click one and a blue line, attached to my insertion point, follows my curser. It asked for another point and I click in another place but when I click that second point the blue line disappears and a new one follows my curser attached to the new point I just clicked.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Network - Tee And Vertical Bend

Nov 2, 2013

I am trying to add a 20"x6" tee to a 20" force main pressure pipe network and Civil 3D simply refuses to do it. It will cut the pipe, but won't add the tee in plan edit. When I try to add a tee to the end of a pipe, it doesn't show up. I can, however, add a 24"x6" tee to my 20" di pipe, which of course doesn't even make sense.

Also, I am having a problem with vertical bends in profile drawing correctly. It works fine when the profile is running left to right, but where I have to reverse the profile they cross over onto themselves (see attached png).

I find myself spending more time fiddling with the pressure network tool than it would take to just draw it manually.

Are fittings normally included in the LF of pipe or are they assigned their own pay item?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Pipe Network In 2013?

Nov 20, 2013

Using the Pressure Pipe Network in Civil3D 2013? I just recently began developing an Apputenace library for all the parts we use that were not included with the program. I have run into a few big issues that could prevent our firm from using this potentially useful tool. One issue, does the PPN posses the ability to create structures like manholes? This could be a really break point for using it to do a sewer line. Another, how well does it interact with multiple surfaces? If I have two surfaces butted up to one another how to a get a PPN from point A on surface 1 to point B on surface 2 and have that PPN respond at the correct bury depth while creating the correct fittings? As I experiment more this this tool I feel as if there are way more questions about what it can and can't do compared to what a regular pipe network does.

Put together a pressure network and actually plotted it out for a project?  Are the fittings and appurtenances even readable?  I have a network setup on 40 scale plans and when plotted out, you can't even tell what a recuder is compared to a valve.  Tees are obvious but thats only because of the branch pipe coming off of it.  Our company uses the old basic symbols that are blown up big enough that dimensionally, they are not correct but visually they look really nice.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2013 Pressure Network Pipe Data

Apr 11, 2012

I've been really excited to know Pressure Network modelling is finally coming to Civil 3D with 2013 release. However I've got no clue why any pipe data won't display in Profile View. This makes absolutely no sense in pressure network profiling since you can't output any pipe data to profile view tables. Note pipe data outputs great for regular Pipe Network profile views.

Another thing I'm disappointed in is no ability to output Uphill Tangent and Downhill Tangent for pressure network pipes. Both values are given in Vertical Geometry Band type. Thus they are being obtaned from Profile but not Pressure Network Pipe data. Since in Pressure Networks it's only a couple of pipes that are being curved to match surface line it's impossibe to get Tangets. Sure you can duplicate surface profile and get required data using Vertical Geometry Band type. But it make no sence since it's too much hustle.

I'm quite sure I'm missing something here. Probably there's a way to add required data styles to Band types? Or modify Label styles Contents data sources?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Network Catalog SQLite Files?

Aug 28, 2012

(Using Windows 7 Professional - 64 Bit; Civil 3D 2013)

No changes have been made to the pressure network catalog (default, as installed and located in the default location on each machine).

I begin by setting the pressure network catalog and choosing any of the sqlite database files in a new blank drawing.  In the "Create Pressure Pipe Network" dialog, I try to edit the parts list, but an error shows up and says "This Pressure Parts List references a catalog that cannot be found. As a result, you may be unable to add parts to the network.".  Everytime I set the catalog, Civil 3D seems to immediately forget which sqlite file was selected.  This problem has been encountered on multiple workstations in our office.  Only 2 workstations retain the catalog selection and will allow a pressure network to be created with no issue concerning the selected catalog.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Network Catalog And Parts List

Jun 11, 2013

We recently installed C3D2013.  We were using our profile from 2012.  When we tried to set the Pressure Network Catalog and then edit the Standard Parts List, we get a message that it references a catalog that can't be found.  I have seen this on other posts.

I changed the profile to the out-of-the box profile, and now it will let me edit the Standard Parts List. When I drag the parts list in the _AutoCAD Civil 3D (Imperial) NCS into my original drawing, it loses the material.

What element of the profile allows it to set the Pressure Network Catalog and have it work?  Does the Parts List in the template play any role in the interactivity between the Catalog and the Parts List?

Also, if I copy the Pressure Network Catalog folder from the C drive to a network drive, I again get the message that it references a catalog that can't be found.  Can the catalog not be moved?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Can't Change Reference Surface For Pipe Network

Sep 4, 2013

Civil 3D data shortcuts.

So I first created a drawing which included a surface called "CONTOURS" and an existing sewer pipe network. I then created a data shortcut of the existing sewer network and started a new drawing with a proposed sewer pipe network.

When I received better contour data, I created a new "10FT EXIST CONTOURS" surface in the existing sewer drawing and switched the reference surface for the existing sewer structures and pipes to the new "10FT EXIST CONTOURS" surface. And of course I deleted the old "CONTOURS" surface because I no longer needed it.

Now, the part that makes me want to pull all my hair out! When I open the proposed sewer drawing I get all the error messages that "Reference surface 'CONTOURS' not found in reference drawing" for all 22 of the existing sewer structures.

I've tried deleted the existing sewer network in the proposed sewer drawing and recreating the data shortcut but nothing makes the errors go away. Is there any other way the existing sewer structures could be referencing the deleted surface that I have not thought about? How to get the error messages to clear?

Photoshop :: Pressure Sensitivity Of Wacom Tablet Not Working Anymore

Feb 13, 2013

I have a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet, photoshop CS6 and Windows 7. The pressure sensitivity of my tablet won't work anymore.  Roughly, it said to uninstall my wacom driver, unplug the tablet, reboot, install driver, plug in the tablet and reset my preferences in photoshop.  I've done this last night and it worked, I was thrilled but it was late, was exhausted,When I turned it back on and went in photoshop this morning it didn't work anymore, pressure sensitivity was gone again.  I get this little warning in my brush settings when I try to put it on Pen Pressure or tilt or other setting that requires pressure sensitivity, The only way I can get it to work is with the process I mentioned (uninstalling driver, unplugging tablet, rebooting etc...) but I'd need to do this every time I shut down my computer and that's a bit of a pain..I've also tried installing different drivers, the latest one first, when that didn't work I tried older ones to see if it would make a difference to no avail.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Default Pipe Network Layer (Not The Structures Or Pipes The Network)

Dec 7, 2012

I am using Civil 3D 2013. I work in an office where we have a few different flavors of Autocad (LT, MEP, regular vanilla AutoCAD etc...) and versions (2010 LT, 2011, 2012, 2013).

For the most part there isn't much inter-office drawing coordinate that has to happen, but there is the occasional project where multiple disciplines (Structural, Mechanical and Civil Site) have to share drawings.

The specific problem I am having is when I share my 2013 Civil 3D drawing with a user using 2011 MEP. He gets the typical rectangle for the proxy objects (in my case, my pipe networks for sanitary and storm drain). We've tried downloading and installing various object enablers, but there doesn't seem to be one for a 2013 to 2011 scenario. So I setup my parts to be on layers that he can just turn off. HOWEVER... the actual pipe network (not the structures, parts, labels etc... the network itself) ends up on layer 0. For this specific project, I do the old (ssget "x" '((8 . "0")) search to select all objects on layer 0, add those objects to a selection set (pselect), then in my modify objects dialog I filter for pipe networks, then change the layer to something other then 0.

While this is a workaround that works for me, what I really want to know is if there is a way that I can change the default layer that the network (again, not pipes, structures or text, the actual network) so I don't have to use the workaround. Any thoughts?

P.S. It's killing me that I had to create a new Autodesk login and now all my AutoCAD "street cred" is lost

Usually one can enter an equation, that also doesn't work.
