why am i not able to open solid work files? The files were made in 2008 in solid work. I ma trying to open them in 2011 INV. I am also checking the box as showing the attachment.
There is a option to open solid work *asm* files. why it is not working?
When I try to fill a figure using gradient i get: "Unable to fill the boundary with solid." But when I try to fill the figure using hatch I get it to work. The problem is I want to use gradient.

We switched over to a server over the weekend, and Monday I was not able to open the stp or jt files. Inventor is installed on my PC only, so I am not sure if that could make a difference or not. View 8 Replies View RelatedThis is a part from an inmported step file. The Inv assembly consists of 1047 part files.
I did the following:
Immediatley grounded all parts in the assembly.Opened the 8 (of the 1047) parts that came through as surfaces, all the rest are solid.
Found missing faces on all of them. I found the most useful tool was to create a series of section planes and do sketches with projected cut edges. Then export the sketches and open in autocad. This way I can see a simple line section view.
I set about replacing the missing faces to get the surface to a solid.After a few attempts I managed what you see below, a solid part in the browser. The part will now mirror as a new solid, but will not join. I have tried mirror as single solid, derive as single solid and combine. All Fail.
I have been working for an hour trying to add this split to this part. I have an extruded surface (ExtrusionSrf10) that I need to use as the parting line. When I try this all I get is a "Create parting line failed.....Errors occurred during update".
I have done this many times on other parts, this one is being a pain. I need the split to have two solids when its done. The reason that I want this is so I can sculpt out a portion of this block.

I have just downloaded an educational version of Inventor. Although I can create sketches I cannot extrude the sketch to form a solid. The origin arrow heads appear over size and it seems as if the origin plane is being extruded to form a solid!

As of today, my sheet set manager is unable to open any sheet set files (*.dst). It was working fine yesterday. There is no error message or prompt; it simply won't open them.
At first I thought it was some compatibility issue, since I recently upgraded from ACAD 2011 to ACAD 2012 (both 64 bits), but the dst file was created using 2012. I had been even creating new sheets and modifying the dst properties as recently as yesterday.
I opened the same files in my still-installed 2011 and the same result.
However, I went to some colleague's computer to open the same files, since the files are located in a networked environment, and voilá, the dst works perfectly. My colleague still uses 2011.
This means there is something wrong with "me".
Also, when I try to create a new sheet set file via the Sheet set Wizard, when I go from "Sheet Set Details" to "Choose Layouts" I can't and it throws me the message "Unable to create sheet set file: [route]".
I am unable to get the 3d grips to work.They are turned on in the part settings,but they do not show up in the the menu when i RMB.

I was told by the reseller that "I have to convert the files into Parasolid or IGES or Sat formats and then the same canbe opened in Inventor Fusion." This is rediculous as the Inventor Fusion claims that " You can open files from any CAD system directly". This is clearly misguiding. know the correct procedure for data transfer?

Unable to open AVI files in Photoshop CS6 I am running PS6 and want to open and edit AVI files. When I try to do that I get an error message saying "the video file cannot be opened" .
This seems to apply to ALL avis - yet I can open and edit MP4, MMV etc. I installed Gspot to track whether it was a codec issue and when I try to open ANY file I get this error message : "Warning: DirectShow crashed while GSpot was attempting to obtain information about a codec. This is usually due to damaged, misconfigured, conflicting, or poorly written codec drivers. It is possible, perhaps even likely, that other media players will crash when they attempt to play this file as well, as most of them will also use DirectShow.
GSpot was able to intercept the crash, and has attempted to identify the codec or filter involved; uninstalling or reinstalling this codec or filter may solve the problem. The codec was tentatively identified as: C:Windowssystem32imaadp32.acm Unknown video codec #11". I see a site to download the "imaadp32.acm" codec but what about the "Unknown video codec #11". What the heck is that and what do I do about it.
ps I should add that the avi files DO open and play in Bridge. I have the latest Quicktime. Everything is up to date and PS and the computer is otherwise working perfectly !

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded creative suite 5.5 on my new computer and never had any problems previously. However when i downloaded it to the new computer I am unable to open files.
When I open Photoshop, it opens like it would normally, but when I go to file > open , file > new nothing happens. There is no pop up for a new file and if I click on existing the file doesn't come up.
Can not open any RAW-files in PS CS6. Have tried "everything". Just formatted the hard disk, installed osx Lion again. Then installed CS6 and adobe RAW 7.1. Still can not open any kind of raw files.

AVI files - Whenever I try to open AVI files in Corel VideoStudio X5 Pro I get an error message saying "so and so file is not accessible" and then a second message replies: "These files cannot be added to the project. These files may of unknown file format, the computer does have enough memory, or the file is copyright protected."

One day I save documents in X5 and next day when I try to open the same document...Its not working
