View 5 Replies View Relatedwhy am i not able to open solid work files? The files were made in 2008 in solid work. I ma trying to open them in 2011 INV. I am also checking the box as showing the attachment.
There is a option to open solid work *asm* files. why it is not working?
When creating a work path on a new layer, the path is a grayish black color is there a way to create that path to be a different color, yellow for instance? Using CS6, I don't see it in preferences anywhere
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to stroke my work path with a brush I tailored myself. now, when I create a workpath from my text layer and switch to my top layer to try and choose 'stroke path' the option is shaded out.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying about 8 hours to convert a Photoshop shape in to a working path in order to put a brush border around it. I don't understand why the "stroke path with brush" is grayed out and not usable directly on the shape path itself.
"Load path from selection" is not an option because it deforms my path.
The problem is that it's only loading the outline of my path as the selection. All the inner areas aren't included, and I want to chop them out as well
View 26 Replies View RelatedActually, I have more than 6 years experience on Catia V5 customization and vb and vb.net catia API's. What I am trying to do know is converting some applications or programs running on catia to the inventor.
The first program deal with the inventor API relating to the SweepFeatures class. So my first problem is about to find the right way to use the sketch3D for the creation of the path which is the input of the sweep method.
(oInvPartFeats.SweepFeatures.AddUsingPath(oInvProfile, oInvProfPath3D, kNewBodyOperation).
I know That is possible to create a path by using the CreatePath method when the input is SketchLines or any guide curve in the 2D Plan. Also, I tried to generate path by using the ProfilePath3D method of the sketch3D class but No way, the AddUsingPath method of the SweepFeatures Class doesn't accept it as path Input.
So I cannot imagine that is limitation of inventor because it was possible to do it by using the seep function of the model tab in the ipart document. How to create the path object as an input of the AddUsingPath method of the SweepFeatures class.
My co-worker is having an issue with re-pathing the autosave location.
When it is re-pathed there is an error that says:
'The directory specified for automatic saves must exist and have read-write permission. The value previously saved for the automatic save files will be used.'
The file that it is linked to was just created, and the user has full administrative rights.
In turn this effectively makes the autosave not work.
I have just installed AutoCAD 2006 on a new PC, and for a while everything seemed fine. However when I save a drawing it comes up with the following:
Unable to save to drawing (path and filename).
Drawing saved to (path)savAE01.tmp
It allows me to saveas without a problem.
If I come out of AutoCAD and try to open the file I attempted to save, it is visible in the file list, but a message pops up saying:
Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exists.
I can rename the .tmp file to a .dwg file and it opens, but then if I try to qsave it, the same thing happens.
I keep running into a situation where I would like to be able to create an edge or a work axis at the intersection of a work plane and the surface of the part. I figured out a work around if the surface is flat, but I haven't figured out a work around for a curved surface.
How do I create work axis where work plane intersects curved surface?
Or put another way: How do I project intersection of work plane and curved surface onto the work plane in a 2D sketch?
I need to be able to draw a 2D sketch on the work plane, but get a perfectly matching projected line onto the work plane, from the curved surface, at the intersection of the curved surface and the work plane.
The attached jpg shows the intersection in question. I circled it.
In ACA2012, we cannot use the Publish command to overwrite an existing DWF file of same name, for instance you publish a set, then need to re-publish and overwrite the earlier version. We get an error message that the DWF is currently open in another program...when it clearly is not open anywhere and Design Review is closed. We have several servers running different versions of microsoft server, but the results are the same to any of them.
We do NOT get an error message when publishing/overwriting to the C: drive, only a network path. Also, if we use the Print command instead of Publish, well it only does the current page but it DOES allow the networked DWF to be overwritten.
I am puzzled by what could be the difference in that Publish will not overwrite a networked DWF file yet Print will?
This has never happened to us in previous versions of ACA or Design Review.
I cannot get Dynamic Input to work correctly on my AutoCAD 2013 installation. Polar Format is always the default no matter what the variable DYNPIFORMAT is set to. Neither using 0 or 1 as the setting will enable Cartesian Format to be the default for the second or next point. Changing the settings in the Pointer Input Settings dialogue box to Cartesian Format also has no effect. 2nd point always is entered as Polar Format. The over-ride for cartesian (,) does work though. I simply want the default to always be cartesian .

View 1 Replies View RelatedHas any body else noticed that if you create a work path, then create a shape layer (say a rectangle) and type some text on the rectangle (text on a path) that if you commit the type and switch to the Path Selection Tool to edit the path text (position of the starting or end points) photoshop cs6 replaces your previous workpath with a workpath of the shape layer you typed on?
Is photoshop cs6 supposed to work that way?
Windows 8 x64 and photoshop 13.01 new document a create a workpath create a rectangle shape layer and type on the rectangle shape layer path. The orginal workpath has been replaced by the rectangle shape layer path
I just upgraded to a new computer setup and installed Photoshop CC and well..... I can't figure out how to manipulate paths like in CS6.
On the left is a what path manipulation with anchor points looks like in CS6 on my old slow iMac, and on the right is the new CC with direction selection on, but instead I can't manipulate paths. How can I get it to work like CS6? Also, I know about the isolating layers thing, but that still doesn't let me manipulate certain anchor points.
why Command + . isn't allowed in CC as a hotkey?
How do I make a work path of a character that consists of a loop (letters O, O, and P in LOOP for example) so that i get the inner and outer walls of a character, take O for example, instead of a solid O?
O (the black area of the O should be filled with smaller text, if it were a work path) When I create a work path of the letter O, it outlines both the inner and outer lines of the letter, but once the work path is created, all I get is a giant SOLID circle, not a work path that has inner and outer walls of the letter O.
Whenever I press this button, the tops and bottoms of my circular selections get cut off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere is a way inside Illustrator to send back or front the anchor points of a path?
In the image below was createad with Pen Tool starting from left to right but if i want to bring some of these crossing points back and forth from each other, is it possible?
Like in the middle one to send it back from the other behind it?
I have to go up to cut and select the object to delete. Also when I click on text the edit dialogue box doesn't come up. I have to go to properties to edit.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI hate 3d orbit with a passion on autoCad / Revit. It is impossible to do detailed design work on a small scale because every time you need to pan around a corner junction for example the whole screen shifts and you lose what you were doing. I understand the way that the 3d orbit tool works is that it picks the pivot point according to the closest object to the cursor.
This however does not work at all well. It always picks the same point on the screen no matter where you are working or where the cursor is pointing. There are times when it does work, however the majority of the time it doesn't. This is where sketchUp is good - the orbit tool is excellent along with its perspective projection. It seems to intuitively pin point exactly where you wish to pivot. Unfortunately everything else about sketchup i hate.
Is there a way to make a work path that has all the lines of the triangle instead of just the outside?
When i use the quick selection or magic wand i can only A) Get the outside shape and inside triangle, or B) Get all but one of the shapes. The triangle is made up of 3 L looking shapes. I want to make a path, put it into Cinema4D , and then be able to color it so i can THEN, put it into an After Effects video.
Is it possible to delete/clear contents outside visible work path easy way?
Sometimes when you create stuff, move stuff, import and cut images something is left outside visible work path. For example, in Adobe Photoshop it could be easily deleted with select tool + delete. Even non visible leftovers that is outside work area.
I started using Gimp yesterday and sure some things are SO irritating after long use of other image editing softwares.. I just can not figure out how people get used to it (Gimp).
Long way would be to move layer contents so you could see those "leftovers" and then it allows you to select them and delete. Then move back image where it was previously. But even after deleting those lefovers why the hell GIMP would select layer size according to "what it was at first" not what's acual dimensions of non transparent area?
I'm sure you know you can convert a photoshop path in to a direct selection, but did you know you can convert a selection into or back into a path?
It's as simple as making a selection via a lasso tool, marquee box or magic wand, open the path window from windows and press the "make work path from selection" button on the tool bar. It is as easy as that. However the toolbar button defautls to a tolerance of 2 pixels which can give you a loose fitting path in places.
Draw closed paths with the Pencil toolSelect the Pencil tool.Position the tool where you want the path to begin, and start dragging to draw a path. After you’ve begun dragging, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS). The Pencil tool displays a small circle (and, in InDesign, a solid eraser) to indicate that you’re creating a closed path. When the path is the size and shape you want, release the mouse button (but not the Alt or Option key). After the path closes, release the Alt or Option key.You don’t have to position the cursor over the starting point of the path in order to create a closed path; if you release the mouse button in some other location, the Pencil tool will close the shape by creating the shortest possible line back to the original point.it doesn't for me. after i start drawing and i hold the option key, it goes to drawing a straight line. i don't hold the key till after i start drawing lit says.
same thing with the connect two paths. holding the command key doesn't change the behavior of the pencil tool.i'm guessing there is no way of remapping the 'smooth tool' to option again? or was it moved to another hotkey?
I'm trying to use the gradient annotator on a compound path. Moving the sliders and rotating the annotator works fine, but if I double click a slider and change the color the annotator disappears and the color of the slider stays the same. It works fine on non compound paths.

View 4 Replies View RelatedPossible to change/set the work plane while sketching the path of an in-place model? This guardrail extension is an example of where I would have liked to change the work plane while sketching the path because the path shifted planes. I believe you can do this in the family editor, but I could not get it to work in the in-place modeler. What I ended up doing (as an experiment) was to create masses and picked their edges to get the path I wanted. I would love to be able to have more control over the work plane, like defining the workplane by a face and then being able to move it relative to the face selected.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay, I've got a weird problem involving paths. Sometimes, I'll be unable to edit or select the lines of a path. I can work with the nodes and handles just fine, but it's like the lines don't even exist. This usually seems to happen when I save a file, close it out, and then open it again, or when I use the clipboard to copy and paste a path.
