AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Get 3D Grips To Work
Sep 10, 2008I am unable to get the 3d grips to work.They are turned on in the part settings,but they do not show up in the the menu when i RMB.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Select 3D Grips
Oct 21, 2012I have a sketch with two circles.I'm placing an extrude the two sides go.I save the item and place it in a assy.Under Feature Priority I select Select Feature Priority.I select the item, right mouse click and want to select 3D Grips and want to use the component on both sides to extend.Only now it is not possible to select 3D Grips.
If I use the same sketch and I extrude one side then it is possible to use the 3D Grips to select the component to extend.

Mar 29, 2012I have a drawing where i am not able to select multiple grips using shift/pick to make the grips "hot". I'm not able to make even one of the grips of a poly line "hot". However, while trying to solve the problem, i've opened another drawing where i AM able to make grips "hot". It doesn't appear to be a system setting issue.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create Work Axis Where Work Plane Intersects Curved Surface?
Sep 9, 2013I keep running into a situation where I would like to be able to create an edge or a work axis at the intersection of a work plane and the surface of the part. I figured out a work around if the surface is flat, but I haven't figured out a work around for a curved surface.
How do I create work axis where work plane intersects curved surface?
Or put another way: How do I project intersection of work plane and curved surface onto the work plane in a 2D sketch?
I need to be able to draw a 2D sketch on the work plane, but get a perfectly matching projected line onto the work plane, from the curved surface, at the intersection of the curved surface and the work plane.
The attached jpg shows the intersection in question. I circled it.
AutoCad 2D :: Unable To Get Dynamic Input To Work
Nov 7, 2012I cannot get Dynamic Input to work correctly on my AutoCAD 2013 installation. Polar Format is always the default no matter what the variable DYNPIFORMAT is set to. Neither using 0 or 1 as the setting will enable Cartesian Format to be the default for the second or next point. Changing the settings in the Pointer Input Settings dialogue box to Cartesian Format also has no effect. 2nd point always is entered as Polar Format. The over-ride for cartesian (,) does work though. I simply want the default to always be cartesian .

Nov 18, 2008I hate 3d orbit with a passion on autoCad / Revit. It is impossible to do detailed design work on a small scale because every time you need to pan around a corner junction for example the whole screen shifts and you lose what you were doing. I understand the way that the 3d orbit tool works is that it picks the pivot point according to the closest object to the cursor.
This however does not work at all well. It always picks the same point on the screen no matter where you are working or where the cursor is pointing. There are times when it does work, however the majority of the time it doesn't. This is where sketchUp is good - the orbit tool is excellent along with its perspective projection. It seems to intuitively pin point exactly where you wish to pivot. Unfortunately everything else about sketchup i hate.

Feb 21, 2012I've been using Photoshop for awhile now, but have just recently run into this issue. When I try to use a bright color, it doesn't work - it just automatically adjusts itself to different shade. Now, I figure this is an issue with my color setting, but I can't figure it out.

Oct 13, 2012I am unable to get my erase brush to work. I click on the "Erase" option, the "-" brush comes up, I run it over the masker area and nothing is erased. I try the other option of holding the ALT key while brushing to erase, the "-" comes up, but nothing is erased as I run over the masked area.

Dec 5, 2011I am starting to color some old line art (cartoons) but can't get any (eraser, brush etc) tools to work on the non background layer. I could just auto fill on the background but that is too finicky, too many open shapes that end up filling the whole page in that color! I want so that I can color in indiscriminately w/o worrying about covering my lines.
How come I can't get so that when I erase, I don't get the transparency checkerboard underneath? I put the BG layer on top then the erase tool does not work! What fundamental thing did I forget?
Revit :: Unable To Snap To Point Cloud Work
Mar 19, 2012I'm trying to use a point cloud in Revit, and I can't make Snap to Point Cloud work.
The "Snap to Point Cloud" box in Manage/Snaps is checked, but there is no snap available when I eg. try to insert a wall in plan view.
I use Revit Architecture 2012, Build 20110916_2132(x64) Update Release 2 with Point Cloud Hotfix installed. The point cloud is indexed in Revit from a .pts file.
AutoDesk Smoke :: Unable To Export Sequence / Work
Aug 24, 2013Having cut together a short commercial recently, I have been unable to export my sequence/ work. There are no error messages, only incomplete exported versions of the sequence (sometimes 1 second, sometimes 8 seconds!) or nothing at all. It will go through the motions and not generate an exported file.
I have attempted to export my sequence multiple ways - from the timeline, from the media library and from the mediahub - with identical results. I'm totally at a loss. I've also gone back to a sequence which I was able to export successfully one month ago and now I get the same problem - either no result or some fractional piece of the edit - never more than a few seconds. My finished edit, by the way, is a 30-second spot.
For example, here's one way I've attempted to export:
1. I select my sequence from the media library and right-click for export.
2. I select movie, choose my destination, and select a format preset (I've tried just about every preset, hoping it was a preset error of some kind), and
3. I hit export.
Instead of the spinning prompt in the lower left corner, showing me a percentage countdown (or count-up) - which was present a month ago when I was las exporting a show -I get a quick audio mixdown prompt in the lower left then nothing. It all happens in less than 1 second from the time I press "export".
I've copied the console log for your review. This particular effort/ screenshot resulted in an 8-second clip, which is the longest one (still incomplete) I've been able to generate since I attempted to export starting yesterday. Again, my sequence is 30 seconds, and it either does nothing, generates an empty file (45k in size) or creates an incomplete movie file (usually 1 or 2 seconds).
GIMP :: Unable To Make Python Plug-ins Work

I am using Windows 7 32 bit, Gimp 2.6. I installed Python 2.6, pygtk all-in-one installer 2.2.

Illustrator :: Unable To Move Objects And Certain Menu Items Don't Work
Oct 22, 2013Using CS5.When I try to move any object by selecting and then trying to drag, it won't let me. It allows me to drag while selected maybe half an inch before not moving anymore, and then snaps back to the original position anyway. I CAN move by using transform - move, or selecting and using arrow keys. When I restart my computer everything seems fine, but then it soon gives me this same problem.
Also, when I'm having the object moving issue I also have problems with dropdown menus. For example when printing, I can see the list of printers, but clicking them has no effect. Another example is the Preferences menu box, clicking "Type" or "Units" has no effect.
Lightroom :: Develop Mode - Unable To Get The Adjustment Tools To Work?
Dec 16, 2012I just installed Lr4 with update 4.3. . First when i click a photo in develop mode it shows up very small. If I adjust the zoom the photo does erratic things. It gets big but with massive distortion then it will clear up but will have an effect like looking into a bunch of mirrers. Also i can not get the adjustment tools to work at all.

Aug 12, 2013The land measure company just sended me a file of a field they marked on the site. As you can see in the picture below the yellow polyline contains many grips. Because of all the grips my whole drawing is very slow and when i want to hatch the polyline and trim in it it takes minutes to load. My question is how can i change the polyline so i can easily hatch and trim it without waiting that long. Im using autocad 2014 and still learning it.

Apr 9, 2013I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and on multiple projects I have been working on I have been having objects randomly move when I rotate my view. The strange thing is that the grips still show up where the object is supposed to be. Below is a screen shot to explain what I am talking about.

Sep 12, 2012Simple problem: When I select a line, normally three grips appear; the ends and the middle. Normally, when I want to stretch (resize) a line I click one end and simply drag it to the desired location. Often it *snaps* to another nearby grip point, the middle selected grip, a line that it crosses, etc. If I zoom in I normally can put the grip any where I want to. It has worked fine up until this morning. Last night when I closed the program it worked perfectly...first thing this morning it doesn't work at all. Restarting the program and the computer had no effect.
The grip will only snap to the other origin (making it zero length) and other random points nearby. I cannot make it a random length...it must snap to those other points, and it *will not* snap to the middle point of the line, which I do all of the time.
Did I accidentally hit a CTRL+ or ALT+ key-stroke which has changed the abilities to snap?

Apr 16, 2013So I am working on a very large project (AutoCAD Architecture 2012) and when I rotate my view, some of the 3D objects will randomly fly out into space. The strange thing is that the grips for the object are still where the object needs to be.

AutoCad :: Grips Showing Up With Boxes Next To Them?
Dec 17, 2013We are running autocad MEP 2014. A co-workers machine that I'm trying to fix has these little boxes showing up next to the grips whenever he draws rectangles. They say "parallel" and "perpendicular"....How do we toggle these things off so they don't show up anymore?
