AutoCAD Map 3D :: Tool Tips For Grips
Oct 24, 2011where the tool tips for grips on polylines have gone in 2012? The stretch, add, delete and the convert to arc. I have a feeling that a setting has changed and I can't find it.

I have included a screenshot for reference.
How do i get rid of Alt and Ctrl "tooltips" (white squares with key names) when using pen tool? These squares obscure often the nodes that you are working on.

My classroom is running CS5. We just started working in Photoshop. Tool Tips only display for a few minutes, then stop working. Show Tool Tips is checked in preferences. How can I get Tool Tips to work consistently? I have read some info about an update called 12.0.3 and one called 12.0.4.

System is updated--using Windows XP Pro service pack 3, latest video driver, plenty of RAM. And in Preferences--Interface--Show Tool Tips is indeed selected. Whenever my pointer hovers over anything, no tips are displayed. Tool Tips worked fine in CS3.
In X5 Draw and Paint my tool-tips have stopped showing and I can't see where they could've been disabled.

I am trying to get to grips with the pen tool and I have a problem I cant get past. I create on object using the pen tool and then use the pick tool as I want to do a specific rotation buy a certain number of degrees. But I need to move the rotation point. I click on Ctrl and then the rotation point and move it to another location. Now if I want to rotate by hand or 15 degree increment then no problem.
But if I wish to rotate by say 20 degrees then I can only use the Image Free rotate but for some reason it rotates object by the center of the object and just ignores its new rotation point. I just cant see why?
Is there a plugin that can make more segments/grips in the line tool? Like in PS or Sketchbook Pro? Idk if Gimp has it also.. But I'm sure it does.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe balloon tip that pops up is just an explanation of what the item is for or what it does when selected. I think I would be pretty safe in guessing that whenever a balloon tip appears there is a help button to go to any particular item. How these things can be disabled or turned off. I did find somewhere, a while ago, a way to edit the registry. But that was when I was using Windows XP.
Now I'm using Windows 7 and the only place these balloons get under my skin is in AutoCad. Which is vanilla AutoCad version 2010. I guess I have to give up trying to insert an image. I have a *.jpg file but no matter what folder I put it in this "insert image" function don't or can't see it for some reason.
My goal is to get it so that I can just turn on realistic visual style and ray tracing and be able to get usable screen shots for product datasheets/ marketing material without having to resort to rendering in studio. (If possible and I think it should be) All my products feature a black powder coated enclosure (think DVD player shape/size). When I enable ray tracing all I basically see is a black blob with no good definition between surfaces, etc.I'm assuming now that I need to do 2 things #1 increase/modify lighting and #2 modify the colors in the style library to work better. For that black color in the style editor I basically have all 4 colors (ambient/diffuse/specular/emissive) set to black. Is there something I should do to allow "more realistic" colors instead of just all color options set as black? I've gotten very decent renders from studio that worked just fine in the past but I've got roughly 400+ screenshots that are needed now for new products. I can play around with settings till I'm blue in the face but I was just looking for tips to have a decent baseline to start with.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe land measure company just sended me a file of a field they marked on the site. As you can see in the picture below the yellow polyline contains many grips. Because of all the grips my whole drawing is very slow and when i want to hatch the polyline and trim in it it takes minutes to load. My question is how can i change the polyline so i can easily hatch and trim it without waiting that long. Im using autocad 2014 and still learning it.

I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and on multiple projects I have been working on I have been having objects randomly move when I rotate my view. The strange thing is that the grips still show up where the object is supposed to be. Below is a screen shot to explain what I am talking about.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn my AutoCAD 2014, after selecting a grip on an object or a point it will snap to other grip points even when osnap is turned off. Is there a command or variable to turn what appears to be an auto grip snap function off?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI moved from acad 2000 to 2009. My crosshair hesitates over every dimension line. Also almost impossible to use grips on the dimension lines. Anyway to turn this off?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSimple problem: When I select a line, normally three grips appear; the ends and the middle. Normally, when I want to stretch (resize) a line I click one end and simply drag it to the desired location. Often it *snaps* to another nearby grip point, the middle selected grip, a line that it crosses, etc. If I zoom in I normally can put the grip any where I want to. It has worked fine up until this morning. Last night when I closed the program it worked perfectly...first thing this morning it doesn't work at all. Restarting the program and the computer had no effect.
The grip will only snap to the other origin (making it zero length) and other random points nearby. I cannot make it a random length...it must snap to those other points, and it *will not* snap to the middle point of the line, which I do all of the time.
Did I accidentally hit a CTRL+ or ALT+ key-stroke which has changed the abilities to snap?
So I am working on a very large project (AutoCAD Architecture 2012) and when I rotate my view, some of the 3D objects will randomly fly out into space. The strange thing is that the grips for the object are still where the object needs to be.
Below should be a picture to explain what I'm talking about.
Grip error.jpg
Is this a bug? Is there a fix? Is this user error?
We are running autocad MEP 2014. A co-workers machine that I'm trying to fix has these little boxes showing up next to the grips whenever he draws rectangles. They say "parallel" and "perpendicular"....How do we toggle these things off so they don't show up anymore?

ex: an extruded rectangle intersects another one just at the end of the extrusion. I would like to extend it further but i'm not able to select the ">" grip. How can I do this without isolating objects, I need them to reference the length of the extension, and so on.
I have created an annotated block of a cut line. In the block editor the grips are located on the ends of the cutline where I need them to be. When I test the block in the block editor the grips are in the right place and the block works fine. However, when I insert the block into my drawing the grips to control the stretch action are located way out in right field instead of at the ends of the cutline where I placed them in the block editor. Parameters having errors. I have corrected the errors but my block is still acting the same way.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSeems like a good time for some KPT. That is, the original Kai's Power Tips. Many kudos to Steve and Gurus Network.
Many moons ago, Kai took a few Photoshop tools to the next level. To this day, even as old as they are, a great deal of his work is still relevant.
know of a variable which controls how stretching with grips works. I've got a single machine with Autodesk Architecture 2012 that when I select a grip and move it, then type a dimension in the command line, that the line becomes the dimension I typed, not the amount I moved it. For example, If i have 10" line, select and end grip, stretch it +3 inches or -3 inches, the line becomes an absolute of 3 inches. On all other machines, the line would either become 13" or 7".

The dynamic input is off.
I would like to add or customize my multifunction grips. For example, at a pline vertex the m-f grip allows me to stretch, add, or remove it. One thing I'ld like to add is to break the pline at that vertex. It would be faster to use m-f grips than the pull-down menu item I have.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI quite often like to use the wall grips to adjust the length of a wall. This works really well accept for the occasional situation were I want to snap to the face of another wall rather than the justification line. I know that I can snap to the face of a wall rather than the justification line because I have some files that it works fine in and other files that it does not work in.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading ACA2012 to Autodesk Building Design Suite (which still includes ACA20012)
The grips on images to resize them to a rectangle for example no longer appear.
The grips still appear on other entities such as lines, circles and rectangle still appear.
Driving me potty as it still works on the systems where this upgrade hasn’t been applied yet.
It’s not drawing specific as this happens on all previous drawings opened on the upgraded machines, but not on the none upgraded.
Using the scale function to reference points at the moment as a very much longer work around, but would like it back the way it was.
