In 2k9 in 3d i used to be able to click on a box and then click on a grip and see the height or width...but now i can't see the dimensions how do i get those dimensions back?
View 3 RepliesSimple problem: When I select a line, normally three grips appear; the ends and the middle. Normally, when I want to stretch (resize) a line I click one end and simply drag it to the desired location. Often it *snaps* to another nearby grip point, the middle selected grip, a line that it crosses, etc. If I zoom in I normally can put the grip any where I want to. It has worked fine up until this morning. Last night when I closed the program it worked perfectly...first thing this morning it doesn't work at all. Restarting the program and the computer had no effect.
The grip will only snap to the other origin (making it zero length) and other random points nearby. I cannot make it a random length...it must snap to those other points, and it *will not* snap to the middle point of the line, which I do all of the time.
Did I accidentally hit a CTRL+ or ALT+ key-stroke which has changed the abilities to snap?
I have a problem with dynamic blocks.
I have inserted a dynamic block (with .NET) and changed the value of a dynamic parameter (Linear). The block is stretched as it should be. (no problems here).
After a fiew other routines, I select the block again (by using its objectID) and a want to get the coördinates of the grip of the linear dynamic paramter. Is there a way to get the coördinates based on the linear dynamic parameter and its grip points? code in vb.Net?
Just upgraded from 2012 to 2013.....Why did they change the way you stretch a wall with grips???? Now, I cannot align a wall perpendicular to the inside of another wall, only the outside edge/face....Is there a fix or setting I am not aware of?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to stretch of move a line in AutoCAD using the grips, it will move additional lines that are touching. It does not do this for every line in the DWG. It seems to be random. They are not grouped. What could be the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI worked for an architect in the past that had a modification of stretch that allowed you to set a dimension. For instance if you had a door way drawn in a stud wall set back from the wall 50mm and you wanted to change that to 100mm you could use the stretch command with another shortcut command to specify the distance from the wall.
The command list would be as follows:
-"s" (Stretch)
- Select objects to move, "Enter"
- Specify the basepoint to move (corner of door in this case).
-Then i would hit another command shortcut from there system. This would allow me to pick the point where i want the dimension to start from.
- Input the dimensions, in this case "100" , then enter to complete.
It seem simple the but very useful for more obscure applications.
I also understand in the application above you could just stretch 50mm across 50mm but this requires calculation. We want to get away from having to calculated all the time.

I have created a dynamic block. Herein I placed stretch actions parameter set to strecht parts including anotative text.
Now the block seems to work fine.
- When I am in modelspace and I change the annotation scale the text is changed correct
- When I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value of the dynamic block everything goes fine.
But when I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value in one of the annotiaton scales and then switch to another scale my text is changed annotativly (this is what I want) but the stretch value is set back to default (which should be at the changed value).
I was adding a lot of aligned dimensions to a drawing and some where along the way they changed from aligned dimensions to rotated dimensions, even in the same string of dimensions.

I created holes in the model as a 1/4" tapped hole
Yet when I show the dimensions in the drawing they show the minor dimension.
How do I get the 1/4" to show? I have selected the feature and still get these results.
Is there any way I can make exploded dimensions in an old drawing become live dimensions again.

i have to dimensions a drawing where theres a lot of aligned dimensions to put and to do it manualy each time takes forever...

Also be sure to pick the 'aligned dimension' method and not the 'linear dimension'. I hope that works in Revit as it does in AutoCAD.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe land measure company just sended me a file of a field they marked on the site. As you can see in the picture below the yellow polyline contains many grips. Because of all the grips my whole drawing is very slow and when i want to hatch the polyline and trim in it it takes minutes to load. My question is how can i change the polyline so i can easily hatch and trim it without waiting that long. Im using autocad 2014 and still learning it.

I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and on multiple projects I have been working on I have been having objects randomly move when I rotate my view. The strange thing is that the grips still show up where the object is supposed to be. Below is a screen shot to explain what I am talking about.

We are running autocad MEP 2014. A co-workers machine that I'm trying to fix has these little boxes showing up next to the grips whenever he draws rectangles. They say "parallel" and "perpendicular"....How do we toggle these things off so they don't show up anymore?

ex: an extruded rectangle intersects another one just at the end of the extrusion. I would like to extend it further but i'm not able to select the ">" grip. How can I do this without isolating objects, I need them to reference the length of the extension, and so on.
I have created an annotated block of a cut line. In the block editor the grips are located on the ends of the cutline where I need them to be. When I test the block in the block editor the grips are in the right place and the block works fine. However, when I insert the block into my drawing the grips to control the stretch action are located way out in right field instead of at the ends of the cutline where I placed them in the block editor. Parameters having errors. I have corrected the errors but my block is still acting the same way.

know of a variable which controls how stretching with grips works. I've got a single machine with Autodesk Architecture 2012 that when I select a grip and move it, then type a dimension in the command line, that the line becomes the dimension I typed, not the amount I moved it. For example, If i have 10" line, select and end grip, stretch it +3 inches or -3 inches, the line becomes an absolute of 3 inches. On all other machines, the line would either become 13" or 7".

I would like to add or customize my multifunction grips. For example, at a pline vertex the m-f grip allows me to stretch, add, or remove it. One thing I'ld like to add is to break the pline at that vertex. It would be faster to use m-f grips than the pull-down menu item I have.

This works really well accept for the occasional situation were I want to snap to the face of another wall rather than the justification line. I know that I can snap to the face of a wall rather than the justification line because I have some files that it works fine in and other files that it does not work in.

The grips on images to resize them to a rectangle for example no longer appear.
The grips still appear on other entities such as lines, circles and rectangle still appear.
Driving me potty as it still works on the systems where this upgrade hasn’t been applied yet.
It’s not drawing specific as this happens on all previous drawings opened on the upgraded machines, but not on the none upgraded.
Using the scale function to reference points at the moment as a very much longer work around, but would like it back the way it was.
I have just noticed when attempting to move the attributes in the blocks of my drawing that the grips have disappeared, where they have gone or how to turn them back on?

The problem i now have is that if i do the same thing thing , the line instead of strecting 50 units the line becomes 50 units long in total
is there a system variable that controls this ?
Using the select breaklines in the prospector doesn't do much of anything in my case. Zoom to Breakline works but how do you determine one particular breakline in the bunch if theye were never named?
