Just upgraded from 2012 to 2013.....Why did they change the way you stretch a wall with grips???? Now, I cannot align a wall perpendicular to the inside of another wall, only the outside edge/face....Is there a fix or setting I am not aware of?
View 1 RepliesWhen trying to stretch of move a line in AutoCAD using the grips, it will move additional lines that are touching. It does not do this for every line in the DWG. It seems to be random. They are not grouped. What could be the problem.

A bit of difference is that the polylines do not have to be even closed. Any polyline gives me exactly the described behaviour, which is definitely not intended. Appears still not resolved.
Simple problem: When I select a line, normally three grips appear; the ends and the middle. Normally, when I want to stretch (resize) a line I click one end and simply drag it to the desired location. Often it *snaps* to another nearby grip point, the middle selected grip, a line that it crosses, etc. If I zoom in I normally can put the grip any where I want to. It has worked fine up until this morning. Last night when I closed the program it worked perfectly...first thing this morning it doesn't work at all. Restarting the program and the computer had no effect.
The grip will only snap to the other origin (making it zero length) and other random points nearby. I cannot make it a random length...it must snap to those other points, and it *will not* snap to the middle point of the line, which I do all of the time.
Did I accidentally hit a CTRL+ or ALT+ key-stroke which has changed the abilities to snap?
In 2k9 in 3d i used to be able to click on a box and then click on a grip and see the height or width...but now i can't see the dimensions how do i get those dimensions back?

I have inserted a dynamic block (with .NET) and changed the value of a dynamic parameter (Linear). The block is stretched as it should be. (no problems here).
After a fiew other routines, I select the block again (by using its objectID) and a want to get the coördinates of the grip of the linear dynamic paramter. Is there a way to get the coördinates based on the linear dynamic parameter and its grip points? code in vb.Net?
I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and on multiple projects I have been working on I have been having objects randomly move when I rotate my view. The strange thing is that the grips still show up where the object is supposed to be. Below is a screen shot to explain what I am talking about.

This works really well accept for the occasional situation were I want to snap to the face of another wall rather than the justification line. I know that I can snap to the face of a wall rather than the justification line because I have some files that it works fine in and other files that it does not work in.

The grips on images to resize them to a rectangle for example no longer appear.
The grips still appear on other entities such as lines, circles and rectangle still appear.
Driving me potty as it still works on the systems where this upgrade hasn’t been applied yet.
It’s not drawing specific as this happens on all previous drawings opened on the upgraded machines, but not on the none upgraded.
Using the scale function to reference points at the moment as a very much longer work around, but would like it back the way it was.
Is there a way to add/remove vertices from polylines using the grips method similar to editing hatch boundaries? I know of "Pedit" and "edit vertex" then "add vertex" but this seems like too many steps after working with hatch boundaries.

So... Is it possible when drawing a line to snap to a 'grip'? I've got a drawing that has been converted from PDF to DWG and the wall outlines are gone. What is there is hatching that is the poche. That means I could re-trace the walls if I could snap to the outside grips of the solid hatching that is there.
In 2010, when you did a multileader, on the landing you had an arrow grip on both ends and then the box grip in the middle.. Now in 2012 they have the landing set to where there is an arrow grip at one end closest to the text and the box grip at the other end....
Is there any way to set the multileader grips on the landing in 2012 the way they were set up in 2010?
In my AutoCAD 2014, after selecting a grip on an object or a point it will snap to other grip points even when osnap is turned off. Is there a command or variable to turn what appears to be an auto grip snap function off?

We have recently upgraded several seats in our office to the Building Design Suite 2013 ... AutoCAD 2013, Revit 2013, etc.
We regularly use screen-shot .bmp images from a map site to do our location maps ... and .bmp images for a rendering on the cover sheet. Once the images are edited, cropped / etc. as we want, using a photo program, then saved to the project folder, we insert them to the CAD file. We use the GRIPS to dynamically adjust the image size, snapping to line work.
Problem: There are no GRIPS.
We have found that the SketchBook Designer add-on, part of the suite of programs in the upgrade, is apparently the problem. If we disable that add-on, then the grips once again are there and work as they should.
I am posting this here so that the powers-that-be at AutoDesk will hopefully add this item to their list of glitches that need to be resolved.
Hatch that includes grips inside,
The attached hatch includes grips inside it and thus as the lisp command “generate boundary from hatch multiple” is applied, more than one boundary is created
The dwg and the lisp file are attached
How to convert this sort of hatch to be uniform (without grips inside) so that the lisp command can create only one boundary for the hatch?

I am currently using AutoCAD 2012 and having problems with the STRETCH command.When I select 3 lines, then deselect 1 of them lines and then select the STRETCH command it does not stretch the selected lines.
Now this is the way I have done in it in previous versions and it has worked. (AutoCAD 2010). Our Company has recently moved to 2012.Is this a function that has been removed with this version or am I doing something wrong?
On ACAD versions higher than 2005 the STRETCH command does not work properly. The problem happens when selecting the items from the left to right. The item is MOVED instead of STRETCHED. It works normally when selecting item from Right to Left. However I need it to work from Left to Right so that I can individually select the item that I want to stretch. Because of this, I am still using 2005. Both 2009 and 2012 have this BUG, making them un-usable for my applications. I just got a new computer with 2012 version only, but I can't use it. I am trying to get 2005 installed on it now.

After rotating and going back and forth from "On" - "Off" - "Both Off", then back to "On", the red polyline doesn't stretch back on it's original plane.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCurrently when I pick a grip at the end of a polygon line and type a length, the polygon goes to that length.
Is there a setting anywhere that changes this behavior to add the typed length to the polygon, hence stretching it to this new length. This would be the same as lengthen when drawing with lines.
The content browser in AutoCAD Architecture 2013 does not seem to be working on a standard users computer. The profile has been rebuilt alongside a repair/reinstall through the control panel.

I have created a dynamic block. Herein I placed stretch actions parameter set to strecht parts including anotative text.
Now the block seems to work fine.
- When I am in modelspace and I change the annotation scale the text is changed correct
- When I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value of the dynamic block everything goes fine.
But when I am in modelspace and I change the stretch value in one of the annotiaton scales and then switch to another scale my text is changed annotativly (this is what I want) but the stretch value is set back to default (which should be at the changed value).
I use the right mouse click command as my enter. But for the past couple of days when I try to use the move, copy, stretch commands, everytime I go to select a base point - autocad selects the point and then automatically snaps or displaces to a random point off of the screen. I don't know if this has something to do with the right mouse click or not, but I can't figure out why it keeps snapping off screen. If I switch and use the enter key or space bar as enter the problem goes away.

my problem is whenever i make a new block a stretch point appears even if its not a dynamic block . also its not a stretch point, because when i click on it, it just move the block , and it always appear on the coordinates 0,0 it cause me a problem when I insert the block , autocad use this point as a base point , and its very far from the real block .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this heavy issue, i can't send to back a line, an object or a hatch under other lines. In 2012 i used this feature a lot but in 2013 it's not working very much, maybe 1 time out of 10 and i absolutely can't say why.
HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.
Let's say i put an entire floor plan into block then draw over it. (I don't want to start a Xref discussion please) i can't send the entire bloc to the back.I used to do that with 2012, 2008, 2007.. but it's 2013 it's not working, is there a way to correct that?
