Jul 14, 2011I have just noticed when attempting to move the attributes in the blocks of my drawing that the grips have disappeared, where they have gone or how to turn them back on?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Missing Attribute Data With Custom Palette?
Oct 31, 2012This was my first go-around attempting to create a custom tool palette for our office. Everything was fine, the palette worked well. All of the block libraries and associated files were initially saved on my local drive. I then moved the files and folders out on the network, repathed all the items on the palette to the new area but for whatever reason when I insert blocks that have attribute data attached It is not recognizing it anymore. I am just trying to get this piece straightened out before I export the palette itself out to the network to share.

May 2, 2012When I select a block that contains a multiline attribute my AutoCAD does not display the corner grips of the attribute if its location is "locked" in the block. Is there a setting I can change to show grips in 2012? Apparently a co-worker of mine that uses 2011 has grips when selecting the block.
If I unlock the location I have grips (not the same ones I am used to seeing from mtext though) but I do not want the attribute location unlocked..I was understanding that the multiline attribute was simply an attribute containing an mtext.

Jun 8, 2011After upgrading ACA2012 to Autodesk Building Design Suite (which still includes ACA20012)
The grips on images to resize them to a rectangle for example no longer appear.
The grips still appear on other entities such as lines, circles and rectangle still appear.
Driving me potty as it still works on the systems where this upgrade hasn’t been applied yet.
It’s not drawing specific as this happens on all previous drawings opened on the upgraded machines, but not on the none upgraded.
Using the scale function to reference points at the moment as a very much longer work around, but would like it back the way it was.

Oct 5, 2012What I really want to do is on our fire alarm blocks we have 3 different attributes one for the address, the candela and one for misc info. I want to make an attribute that takes the number from the candela (15,30,75or 110) and change a different attribute to a value depending on which candela we use (such as 15=.078, 30=.113, 75=.195 or 110=.259). But I don't want the .078,.113,.195,.259 to print out on paper, I want to export block information excel file so I can add up all values.

Jun 24, 2011know of a variable which controls how stretching with grips works. I've got a single machine with Autodesk Architecture 2012 that when I select a grip and move it, then type a dimension in the command line, that the line becomes the dimension I typed, not the amount I moved it. For example, If i have 10" line, select and end grip, stretch it +3 inches or -3 inches, the line becomes an absolute of 3 inches. On all other machines, the line would either become 13" or 7".

Feb 25, 2012I use to be able to stretch a line by using the end grip and typing 50 , this would extend the line by 50 units
The problem i now have is that if i do the same thing thing , the line instead of strecting 50 units the line becomes 50 units long in total
is there a system variable that controls this ?

Sep 18, 2012so i select numerous objects and can see their grips. I then go and zoom and/or pan around the place, and the grips disappear!

Dec 20, 2012I am using autocad 2013 primarily and other employees are using 2010. I am saving my drawings as 2010 and for me there are no issues. On the other hand people using 2010 are having objects missing in the drawing. All layers are turned on and all thawed. The primary objects missing are AEC objects. Is there a switch to show or hide these object?

However if I try and open the block drawing by itself the attributed text just turns into normal text after I get this message "Orphan Attdef Objects found & Converted to Text". Apr 27, 2012Is there a way to have attributes automatically update? For example, we often "save block as" from block editor to create a new block. We usually have block name on defpoints layer so designers can see block name on screen.
We now have to edit this text each time new block is created from existing block. If default value of attribute could be the block name it would save time and errors.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Multiple Displays Of One Attribute
Aug 28, 2012I need to make a block with one attribute named SIZE which will be filled in when the block is inserted into the drawing. On this block I would like to display the value for SIZE in 3 additional places besides the attribute SIZE.
So to make a long story short I would like to take 1 attribute and display it 4 times. If I change the attribute I would like for all 4 displays of it to update with the change.
I've tried making the 2nd, 3rd and 4th occurrences attribute with fields pointing to the value of the 1st attribute object but it is not working. How do I go about accomplishing this.

Feb 8, 2013I am trying to create a block with 1 attribute (ELEVATION) showing a finished floor level and another text (field) to show another level derived by the sum of the attribute value + and additional (fixed) number, say 100.
I have tried using fields inside an ATTRIBUTE or a simple DTEXT but the field does not update, it only picks up the DEFAULT of the attribute, not the user entered input. How can I do this?
