I have an exisitng attribute that have several line items. I want to add more items to this attribute same attribute. The attribute block name is "JLR24X36" and there are 15 existing tags within this attribute?

I want to make an attribute that takes the number from the candela (15,30,75or 110) and change a different attribute to a value depending on which candela we use (such as 15=.078, 30=.113, 75=.195 or 110=.259). But I don't want the .078,.113,.195,.259 to print out on paper, I want to export block information excel file so I can add up all values.

I need to replace an existing attribute value by a new one.
The problem is that I don't know the current value. Is there a way to use a wild-card statement when asked to "Enter string to change: ". I can only manage to do it if I know the existing value of the attribute.

we have a block that we use to identify rooms. that block has 3 attributes: rooms name, rooms number and surface area.
A former colleague once showed me how to do this but I can't reach him... How can I inquire the data from an area and tag-it right to the surface area attribute of my block? My MLeader has a _TagBox & it is the attribute of the _TagBox that I am trying to check/compare the "txt" value.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am updating a user to ACADM 2010 from R14. His actual R14 menu was customized so that the menu bar shows 'File' 'Drawings', 'Options', 'Edit', 'View', etc. from left to right. So far I have been able to get the 'Drawings' and 'Options' added to the classic 2010 menu.
However, the 'Drawings' and 'Options' show clear the right of 'Help' (see attachment). I need to get them moved over to a position between 'File' and 'Edit'.
These are drop downs with 5 to 6 levels. Having them on the right makes them look very messy because the cross back and forth.
I have a section cut that I use from my tool palette that disappears from paperspace. It shows up in model space and everything else I use from my tool palette shows in both model and paperspace. I have all layers on, unfrozen, etc. They are not on my defpoints layer either. It just seems to be that particular block that is disappearing. Its the strangest thing. One day it worked just fine and the next it started doing this.

Qsave does work but I would prefer not to use it due to sharing drawing xrefs with others means that they constantly have to keep reloading the xrefs
Have tried reinstalling autocad but that doesn't make it work.
Currently have a NVIDIA Quadrow 3500 which is probably not the correct one.
If you have a housing with say, 12 cylinders in the flange which are to be cut out of the housing to become the 12 bolt-holes. If you positioned your cylinders using polar array, are you supposed to be able to use the command solid/substract? I can't as it won't pick the array parts to cut. I had to resort to rotating/copy all the cylinders around the flange and then it works great. Any way to do holes through a solid...

View 3 Replies View RelatedNeeded to purge items in a drawing to recover a drawing in order to repair corruption within it it. I purged and audited the drawing in question and then created a block or the drawing elements which I imported to a new drawing sheet. That's great, all is well but.....obviously (now) the only layers, dimscale,etc. items I normally use in my template sheet are gone and only the items remaining after the purge are the ones that were in my original drawing.
How can I, or can I replace my normal full layer list, dim settings, blocks, etc?
I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
I have just noticed when attempting to move the attributes in the blocks of my drawing that the grips have disappeared, where they have gone or how to turn them back on?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to create blocks in which the same text appears twice. I've created an invisible attribute to hold the text and created two mtext object containing fields that point to the attribute value.
The text fields show the default value of my attribute but will not change when the attribute is set on an placed instance. After setting the attribute on an instance I've tried UPDATEFIELD and REGEN but still I see the default value.
I would like to learn is there any possibility to provide renaming the tag name of a created attribute, if there is a way, it could great to learn it from your side.

However if I try and open the block drawing by itself the attributed text just turns into normal text after I get this message "Orphan Attdef Objects found & Converted to Text". This problem seems to happen on two of our machines but a third co-workers machine still works fine.

Is it possible to make a single attribute appear in more than one place on a single block? i.e. We have a title block in which we want the drawing number and revision to appear at both the top and the bottom of the page. We want to be able to change the information in the attribute on the bottom of the page and it automatically update the attribute at the top of the page. Is this possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have attributes automatically update? For example, we often "save block as" from block editor to create a new block. We usually have block name on defpoints layer so designers can see block name on screen.
We now have to edit this text each time new block is created from existing block. If default value of attribute could be the block name it would save time and errors.
I need to make a block with one attribute named SIZE which will be filled in when the block is inserted into the drawing. On this block I would like to display the value for SIZE in 3 additional places besides the attribute SIZE.
So to make a long story short I would like to take 1 attribute and display it 4 times. If I change the attribute I would like for all 4 displays of it to update with the change.
I've tried making the 2nd, 3rd and 4th occurrences attribute with fields pointing to the value of the 1st attribute object but it is not working. How do I go about accomplishing this.
This is my Dynamic Block with attributes.But when I will stretch or flip the block the attributes will stay on the original positions.
The attribute mode is on locked so I don't get it. Any way to link the both attributes, so I only have to fill in the value for once.
