AutoCad 3D :: Line Between Two Solid Objects After Union
Dec 5, 2012Whenever I try to union two solid objects, there is a line between the two objects even after they are in union. How can I avoid the line?

Attached is the Untitle.jpg, to make more clearer to you. Blue is the wall and skyblue is the aquarium. I want the back and the front of the aquarium don't have any line in the middle but even I do shade command the fill of the color is still there. Cause if I explode and delete the line in the middle the colors that fill the aquarium are getting rid off See Untitled 2.Jpg to see what I mean. And also how can make the aquarium Untitle 3.jpg transparent?
union the red and yellow objects? after that in mine I have intersection line between them! why?and the other question is; when I try Interfere command to remove the interference object it doesn't work!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have created an object and unioned it with another object of what i assumed was the same length.
These nasty lines appeared and as i zoomed in an unwanted face appeared.
I have tried solid edit and delete face but it says gap cannot be filled. There is another unwanted face i am assuming on the other side but the gap is so small my computer always freezes and slows down before i can get in that close to examine it.
I have a.3ds file imported into Civil 3d. The object imported as a polymesh in Civil 3d. I need the solid 3d object to do some edit like slice or union and subtract.
The question is "How can I import .3ds into Civil 3d as a solid objects or hoe can i convert polymesh to solid?"
I must be missing something fundamental when trying to change a line from a solid line to a hidden or dashed line in Autocad 2000. I use the ltype command then load either Hidden, or dashed ISO,or both, and invariably the scale is way off in that I always end up with a still solid line, after using modify properties. After all that, every line I draw after that comes out dashed. Maybe I should fool with the layers? Is there a basic procedure I should follow here?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on a design project for a class i am in, i need to make a model of the design solution i come up with. since my design has curved walls, how to take my AutoCad model and convert the faces to something where i could print them out on paper and make the model. I need to basically unroll them as if i was flattening them on a sheet of paper. i have tried flatshot and flatten, my difficulty with these is that it does not take the entire object length along the curve, it will only take the distance that can be seen on the screen. I know this is possible with 3ds max as a friend of mine did it that way, but i don't know how to use 3ds max so that doesnt work for me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with files in Acad that were originally created as VWX files. The boundary command will not work on solid objects from a top view as it does with Acad created objects. Also, I cannot dimension any rounded surfaces because they are splines. Are there any workarounds to these issues?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using C3D 2012. I my drawing I have 3D solid objects that I want projected into my roadway x-sections. When I use the menu command to "project objects to section views" and select "solids" I get the message "no objects to project". Are their different types of solid objects in autocad?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the following problem: I have loads of lines in 3D, some longer, some very short. With PE i can join them using fuzz, but since some lines are next to another line then it tends to make the line go back and forth in some places. What i want to do is somehow make an average line from all the other lines.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a base(blue) with an array(orange) positioned on a face.
When I select all & UNION the whole geometry becomes orange & I would like it to become blue.Selecting the base first then the array doesn't seem to work.
I was wondering if you have to solid objects and then use UNION command to make them as ONE object BUT then I don´t after a while you realise that this was a mistake is there a command that you can use to split them as they were before (beside from command undo or slice).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on a cylindrical part, and I need to CAD an internal feature for the part. I set up a parallel plane at the point within the geometry that the feature is to be located, and am attempting to sketch the profile of the part using the 2D sketch feature. However, the lines that I am sketching are not visible through the rest of the existing cylinder, for example, if I have draw a 30 mm line from the centre point of a 20mm radius cylinder, only the final 10 mm of the line will be shown. While the line is still functional, it is highly inconvenient when trying to sketch these features, they are difficult to work with as I can not see them through the part. Is there any way to set the defaut visibility for 2D sketches to be so that they are visible through solid parts?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSome of objects that I draw have partly hidden lines. Basically I can create two lines and then set one to be solid and the other one to be hidden. But may I know any faster way to do that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the attached drawing you'll see I am trying to print a wireframe view of a 3D object with hidden lines displayed as dashed...in paperspace with an MVIEW viewport. To achieve this, I created a custom visual style called "3D Wireframe with hidden lines" because AutoCAD Mechanical doesn't come with a view preset that will do that for some reason. Even though the viewport looks perfect in paperspace, and is set to print "as displayed", the drawing prints (and previews) with the dashed line as solid instead.
I know I could use VIEWBASE to create a drawing view with hidden lines set to "visible and hidden", but that doesn't mean I don't want to know why AutoCAD is doing this strange behavior with standard viewports.
I drew a dashed line in model space and it appears as a solid line in paper space. What is going on?

I have tried putting a flag behind text and trimming so it only shows through the text but not only does trim not work, I cant seem to get a transparent fill for the text anyway. Ive seen an example of transparent text but no instructions as to how to do it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue transferring an object I have sculpted in Mudbox, and trying to import it correctly to Maya. In Mudbox, both of my objects show up just fine (don't worry about the UV issue on the face). When I choose to 'send objects to Maya,' the objects display in a new scene, but the hair doesn't show up at all. In the Outliner, Maya displays an empty transform node titled 'hair,' but I can't get it to show up as a solid mesh within the scene.
Am I going to have to remodel the hair in mudbox again and just pray that the model will import to Maya without issues?
I've tried using the union tool in AutoCAD 2013 as well as the Boolean join function in Inventor Fusion 2013. In AutoCAD it doesn't let me select more than one object (says that the array is the only object and that individual unit blocks are duplicates). In Inventor Fusion I can't seem to get the hand of selecting the target & tool bodies.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project, and all of a sudden when I ad a outline line width to an object the outline seems transparent to me. I can get it to stop doing this with copying other objects in the scene that have a solid line around them, but as soon as I go back to the other items the transparent line width starts happening again.
