AutoCad 3D :: Jagged Shadows In Realistic View
Dec 12, 2011When I have full shadows on (vsshadows=2) in realistic view the shadow edges show up jagged. They look OK when rendered though. what setting I need to set to fix it?

View 1 RepliesI have loaded a conceptual mass family into the project and am getting jagged shadows in the default 3d view with shadows and the printed PDF (attached), regardless of the quality settings reflects this as well. Is there a way to adjust the precision of the shadow aliasing in the views. I know how to do it for a rendering.
I am running an Nvidia Quatro FX 2800 and have the latest recommended driver updates. I have tried adjusting the Aliasing manually from the card but am having no luck.
I imported trees using Civil View which are images projected on planes. I was wondering if its possible to get the shadows more realistic? It currently displays the plane shadows which are 2 planes crossed in the shape of an "X". I also noticed on others' systems their tree objects are more 3d and not images draped on planes. Is this due to graphics card?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhile currently working with autocad architecture 2014, i found dark shadows while zooming in and also the zooming isn't smooth, however there was not such problem while i worked with much heavier file. Also the model becomes dark sometimes while zooming (not invisible, but as if the lights are switched off) ..cadtutor.PNG
View 7 Replies View RelatedI work with virtual shoe samples, that means that many times I have to draw shoes from sketch and make them realistic. Observing real shoes, I noticed that when an area is going away to background, it does not only gets darker, but also loses a bit of its saturation and contrast. So my doubt is how to make a gradient loss of saturation and contrast. Maybe it could be done both with brushes or blending options (which I already use for shadows),

This is my draft postcard for my piggy banks and I think they look great in this background. Problem: I would like to make them sit on the piles of coins realistically, i.e. some good shadow must be added.
Unfortunately drop shadow option did not help... still looks superficial. I added a bit of blur effect on piggies which are behind the picture. Still, they don't seem to fit into the picture well.
Is there a way to get rid of lines in realistic 3d view. I want it to look smooth.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter designing a simple 3d model, I can only get it to print right with 2d wireframe. Unfortunately, I don't want all the lines showing up, just the ones on top. I tried all the views, but only 2d wireframe works. Need lines, not concept or realistic shades.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhy am i seeing all black when i rendered my southwest or southeast view, without setting up a camera. But other ppl of my peeps r seeing in colour and materails. Also, my other problem is when i put on realistic view, i m seeing grey-ish blocks instead of "real" materials. In my previous assignment, I did see the "Real" materials when i set it on realistic view. However i did try to reset to default for my realistic veiw, but still it did not seem to be working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I've been using ray the realistic view with ray tracing enabled for a while now for quick renders, but I recently had to reinstall Windows and now it wont work. I've installed all of my drivers and everything is up to date, but when I click on ray tracing it starts to do it for a couple of seconds then just disables. After that first try whenever I click the button it simply wont enable.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently updated to Inventor Professional 2014.
The problem I encounter is that Inventor crashes sometimes when I turn the realistic view mode on.
Also the rendering in realistic view mode is much slower than with Inventor 2013.
Are there some ray tracing options that I need to set up?
I have found a 3D drawing on the internet. But i want to print it in a realistic view from the top. This is the place where i have found it :
Site
like you see on the site ,an example of the 3d cad drawing
in realistic colors,shadows, ... :
10-22022012-089645L.gif
but when i download the 3d autocad file i open it , and i can only print in this view:
3d cad print.jpg
no realistic view,
now is my question, is it possible to download the drawing from the site ,and print it in a realistic view ?
is it possible to render an animation in realistic view with Raytracing switched on?
In the view i have a realistic view, but when i do "render animation" the pictures are rendered without Raytrace.
I'm using the Ditch subassembly in my corridor and am running into a problem when using realistic mode to view.
I've applied a render material to L3, L2 and L4 which is fine but when I assign a material to L1-L5 (i.e Top) it overdraws (or otherwise fails to display) the previously assigned materials for L2, L3 and L4.
If I set the Links L1-L5 (i.e. Top) to no display then L2, L3 and L4 display as expected but when IMX'd to Infraworks the existing terrain shows through at Links L1 and L5.
Is it possible to stop this from happening and have a seperate material for L1 and L5 whilst retaining L2,L3 & L5 materials?

I have been designing a school project for the last 2 months using the student version of inventor 2014. The realistic views have been working the whole time before but now it is not working. I click on it, and it just switches back to shaded view. If I click on shadows, or reflections I get the following message.
"One or more visual effects in use are not supported by the current system graphics hardware. We strongly recommend running the Diagnostics check in applications option for detailed information.Would you like to run hardware Diagnostics now?"
After selecting Yes I get the following,The graphics driver is fully certified.

i ve noticed that when i switch to orthographic view i cannot render the view. i have only black render output. how to make a render in say top view or front?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason regardless of what I save or the fact that I've saved the template files, everytime I open a new file it automatically adds shadows and applies perspective view. This is extremely annoying. How do I alter the default settings to be ortho with no shadows?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm creating 3D architectural models; primarily interior views. I use the ANIPATH command quite frequently and I'm good there.
However, I have not been able to render a still camera view that shows the lighting and resultant shadows. Whenever I attempt to render a still from a particular camera; I set it to realistic. It shows the 3D objects with materials; however not the lighting.
I've been using ACAD for about 15 years now, and consider my skill level upper-intermediate.
So far, the only successful still renderings I've been able to do are those directly associated with the typical ortho views: i.e., NE, NW, SE, SW, front, back, etc. But no avail on rendering from the camera point of view.
I tried to plot a 3D view to pdf but I have strange shadows on the pdf file.
In revit it shows everything correct but on the pdf there happened something wrong.
I read the other articles about putting it to Raster Processing but that doesn't work.
Raster quality is on presentation (highest possible).
I printed with a cute pdf printer.
Was wondering if there are some ways in converting a highly realistic rendering of an object generated in a 3D program into a more illustrative, simplified, alittle less realistic version in Photoshop?
The object has plenty of silver reflections, HDRI environment map reflections, precise shadows and highlights, etc. I just want to make it look more generic and not as polished I guess.
Are there filters or plugins that will do this in a plug in play method or is it more prodedural and manual?
Re: 2D circle jagged lines, 3D model hidden jagged lines. How do i get smooth lines?
How do i get rid of jagged lines?
Circles and diagonal lines look rubbish when i am in hidden view which i use for simple 3d black / white (i think this is the best way?).
I have tried:
- viewres (1000, 5000, 10000, 20000 sightly better)
- regen
See examples.
square with jagged lines.fw.pngcircle with fuzzy outline.fw.png
i've drawn a car's blueprint in autocad and tried to plot to see the result how the picture would look like if i tried to print it, but what i got was pretty horrible:

Lines are very very jagged, the picture just looks bad. Viewres is at 20000. Why lines are not smooth?
Is it the limitation of my hardware that gets me these jagged edges or is there a way to at least make drawings with smooth lines?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy 2013 AutoCAD file needs to "regen" after just scrolling in and out once. I can't do anything because the lines are disconnected and jagged all of a sudden. This started a few hours ago after I drew a spiral staircase and blocked it. I noticed the lines were all of a sudden not connecting while drawing the stairs though. Is there a command that I might have accidently typed to change some type of format? or unit set up? I have been working on this file since September and this problem has never occured. The lines look fine from far away, but when you zoom in there's a clear separation. My snaps are on and they seem to be aligning when I click, but when you zoom in they're not touching at all. I've been googling for soooo long and can't find an answer. My units are 1/8" (Architectural) and when I check the dimension between the two lines it says it's 0".
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a logo in curves inserted into a titleblock. It looks perfect.
When I export to PDF it looks like this:
It's like in Illustrator when you specify whther the line is on the inside or outside of the curve, but I don't know how to control this in Inventor. I've tried changing the line thickness and all that but I've not had any success.

I'm in a drawing file and I have some straight lines that when I'm a little zoomed out they look all jagged, but as I us my mouse scroll wheel to zoom in, the closer in I zoom the jagged line segment start to come together into one continuous line again.
Not all lines look jagged just some.
is there a setvar for this or a video card setting or something?
I have finished the 3d interior completed with lighting and everything. Set Visual Style to Realistic. Is it normal that the drawing would turns to only wireframe during the action of 3d Orbit and 3dwalk? Is there a way to change the setting?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if it is normal for the lines to be jagged. Vertical and horizontal lines are straight but the angular ones are jagged, Stair step looking whatever you would call it. It makes the stuff I draw look like (edited) .Especially the low angle stuff.
View 9 Replies View Relatedusing lenovo w520 with a 2 gig quadro 1000m win7 pro, a drawing file for a small cottage started to show hiding artifacts in most planes similar to when two items are drawn in the same place. ie, small triangles along the edges, and blotches of colour throughout the planes. however, only one entity was in each place.
I tried auditing the drawing, purging, rebooting, but nothing would fix this artifact issue. xreffed drawings in this file would have the problem inside the file (ie as an xref), but the original drawings did not. if I switched to parallel view, the problem went away.
as a fix, I copied everything to a new drawing, renamed the old one to a dead file, and renamed the new drawing to the original. this new file does not have the problem! is there some better, easier, faster, method to avoid this issue? and/or, did the drawing somehow get a setting that is not readily apparent and that could be easily reset? as a background issue, ACA died the last time I was in it, when I went out to Sketchup 8 and imported a dwg file. ACA died after about 5 minutes of sitting on its own. so, the file could maybe possibly have been silently corrupted by ACA when it croaked.
Every time a do a save while working in 3D Realistic view it switches the view to Perspective after the save, and I have to keep changing back.
