Nov 24, 2009Every time a do a save while working in 3D Realistic view it switches the view to Perspective after the save, and I have to keep changing back.

AutoCAD 2013 :: When Saving Switches To Perspective View
Mar 21, 2013On some 3D models, when I save the drawing, it automatically switches to perspective view and turns the sky background on. This is irritating.
I found this old thread in the AutoCAD Architecture area from 2010

Even setting the sky background to 1, then 0 doesn't work. When I save, it reverts to a perspective view and turns the sun/sky back on.

Dec 8, 2012using lenovo w520 with a 2 gig quadro 1000m win7 pro, a drawing file for a small cottage started to show hiding artifacts in most planes similar to when two items are drawn in the same place. ie, small triangles along the edges, and blotches of colour throughout the planes. however, only one entity was in each place.
I tried auditing the drawing, purging, rebooting, but nothing would fix this artifact issue. xreffed drawings in this file would have the problem inside the file (ie as an xref), but the original drawings did not. if I switched to parallel view, the problem went away.
as a fix, I copied everything to a new drawing, renamed the old one to a dead file, and renamed the new drawing to the original. this new file does not have the problem! is there some better, easier, faster, method to avoid this issue? and/or, did the drawing somehow get a setting that is not readily apparent and that could be easily reset? as a background issue, ACA died the last time I was in it, when I went out to Sketchup 8 and imported a dwg file. ACA died after about 5 minutes of sitting on its own. so, the file could maybe possibly have been silently corrupted by ACA when it croaked.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Using Break Switches Off Snap (Grid) For First Selected Point
Oct 6, 2011I set a snap for ease of use, e.g. if my intended output scale is 1:50 I will set my snap to 25, this makes drawing lines fast and simple.
When I used the break command in previous versions (I skipped 2011) the break would keep the snap on so I could break either side of a line with a perfect unit gap.
In 2012 when I select the first point it disregards the snap and just puts the break wherever I select on the line meaning the gap is not neat. Is there anyway to put this back the way it was?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Rendering And Realistic View
Dec 10, 2012Why am i seeing all black when i rendered my southwest or southeast view, without setting up a camera. But other ppl of my peeps r seeing in colour and materails. Also, my other problem is when i put on realistic view, i m seeing grey-ish blocks instead of "real" materials. In my previous assignment, I did see the "Real" materials when i set it on realistic view. However i did try to reset to default for my realistic veiw, but still it did not seem to be working.

Nov 21, 2011I am really struggling with this and I am not sure why. I simpy want to place a camera or create a view of a 3d drawing and plot a 2d elevation. I want to be able to clip the view to only show that object.
Example: 3d duct drawing, duct risers, I want to pick on riser and arnage it on a viewport. I can get a camera placed but each time it defaults to a perspective view and when I change it to non-perspective the camera disapears.
So I setup a view but no matter what i do I cannot get the clipping to work correctly.
tutorial on createing 2d views of 3d drawings.
I don't want to use sectionplan or a live section the duct program I am using doesn't create actual cad style solids so that won't work.
I really can't beleive I cannot just select two points to determine the view direction and the apply it to the viewport. I have to be missing something.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Perspective View Distorted When Rendered
Jun 13, 2012I am having a problem with a view being shown rendered.
I have a tall piece of material handling equipment that is drawn to scale and is approximately 30' tall. When I render the view and take a shot of it, it looks angled based on the camera angle, when in reality it should appear straight (see attached picture).
How do I get this to look correctly?
AutoCAD 2010 :: View Command Perspective In Viewport
Nov 30, 2012I've struggled with the old issue of shifting images in rotated viewports. We use georeferenced aerial photography by way of these images inserted into their own drawing and then Xreffed into another drawing for printing. The issue is, the image appears shifted in some viewports. Most of the time it prints fine but not always. I searched the discussion groups and found a post a few years ago that a reply user stumbled across a quasi workaround. When the view command's Perspective is turned on and then off within the viewport, the image appears to be locked in it's correct position, not shifted. I have successfully used this procedure several times over the years until now. I have half a dozen drawings that when I turn the Perspective on and then off in a viewport, the image will not display. The xref is loaded and the layer is turned on in the viewport but the image doesn't show. What is the perspective portion of the view command within a viewport?

The object has plenty of silver reflections, HDRI environment map reflections, precise shadows and highlights, etc. I just want to make it look more generic and not as polished I guess.
Are there filters or plugins that will do this in a plug in play method or is it more prodedural and manual?

Apr 17, 2012We are a small office running ACA 2010 on Win7 64-bit machines, individual licenses. All our files are stored on the server and we do not use ACA sheet manager for file creation.
We are having an issue with files not saving! We have two working on the same project and they are trading between who has the base open and who is viewing "read only". Seemingly randomly one will open a base and it will be reverted back to yesterday with work lost! This can be documented when the person with "read only" open can see the changes and sometimes we have printed after the changes are made, but cannot open the editable file and see the changes. Sometimes the .bak will have the changes and sometimes not.
Does this have anything to do with "allow other users to Refedit current drawing" setting?

Nov 2, 2012I am having an issue with my Sheet Sets keeping the settings I have entered after closing them out.
For example, I create a new Sheet Set (from Existing Drawings) add my layouts to it, organize them, then I right-click on the Sheet Set name and select Publish > Sheet Set Publish Options
In the dialogue box that opens I change four things:
1. Location: I point it to the network location where I want the DWFs stored.
2. File Format: change from DWFx to DWF (this is due to a limitation with our printing equipment)
3. Type: changed to Single-sheet file
4. Merge Control: changed to Lines Merge
It seems to maintain all of these setting until I close the sheet set out (change drawings, close C3D, etc.) Then when I reopen the Sheet Set later, it will revert the File Format back to DWFx and the Merge Control back to Lines Overwrite.
The reply given did not answer the issue but was mistaken for use with the plot dialogue box, which this is not about. The issue we are having is the sam as above with the "lines merge" ALWAYS reverts back to "lines overwrite" after the sheet set is closed and re-opened. I have seen a thread suggesting that If the PC3 files are read only this may be the problem, but as a cad manager in even the smallest of firms, having the pc3 files read only is just about a must to keep from accidental changes from occuring. Is this the reason? I dont see what conection the pc3 files would have with the settings in the sheet set manager. (all of our pc3 plotter setting are set to "lines merge" in each of the printer settings as well) so, where and why it keeps reverting back to "lines overwrite".
AutoCad :: Stop Prompts When Saving In 2010?
Aug 10, 2011I work using AutoCAD 2010 i think an old drawing that i have taken over was created using cad2007, and due to the compatibility issues between them, every time I save the dwg (Ctrl+S) i get prompted/asked whether I realllly want to save the drawing in 2010 format (yes/no) It's always yes.
is there a way to permanently disable this prompt either:
- for just this drawing, or
- for all dwg's i work on in the future

Feb 14, 2012I'm trying to save blocks to a new tool palette and it won't let me.
I'm doing everything I've always done. Right click on the tool palette, click "new palette" then change the name.
the new tab appears on the tool palette. I go then to drag the block from my drawing to the newly made palette.
As I drag over the tool palette with block, the black line appears on the palette as it should, but when I drop it to the palette its not there. I can drag and drop that same block to any of the other tabs on the tool palette whether it's a default one or one that I've made previously. I've done this process a thousand times, it always worked without a problem. All of a sudden it doesn't. I havent made any changes to my pc or os except for the microsoft updates.
I've also tried to load the blocks from design center to the new palette, no success!
I've checked to make sure tool palettes are saving to the right file....

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2010 Constantly Crashing While Saving IPN?
Sep 13, 2011This happens almost evertime I go to a .ipn to update changes and save. It freezes w/ no cahnce of coming back. Two other things that is troubling me about the .ipn is that sometimes it will rearange itself w/ all the parts at 0,0,0 and or won't let me ballon any parts. After closing the file and opening it again it either does the same exact thing or takes the balloons but throws the pick points of into space......

Oct 17, 2012When I work in large files (10,000 kb +) I experience significant delays when copying large amounts of information (copy a floor plan) or when switching between layouts or saving the dwg. I wish I could tell you it started right after I But I just recently started working with the larger files. So this could have been an issue from the time I bough the machine - 18 months ago.
it's either an issue with my graphics card or processor. I would like others to comment on their opinions on adjust my set-up to be more efficient
I believe I have the most current driver for the video card. Did I hear right somewhere that there is no good driver for the Quadro 4000 to work with 2012?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Saving STEP Files From Internet As DWG
Jun 28, 2013I'm downloading .STEP files from the internet, opening them in inventor, then saving them as .dwg files that I can use in my 3D autocad drawings. I am using AutoCAD 2012 and I am running into some issues when I try to insert the objects.
So, I open up a new AutoCAD 2012 drawing and begin inserting. I can insert the first object just fine, any of downloaded files. It's the second part that is the issue. I will get one of two issues when trying to insert this second object. When inserting, it will either show the previous part that I inserted or not show anything at all.
I don't know if it's a bug, an issue with my set-up, or if I'm doing something funky when converting the .STEP files.

Nov 7, 2012Autocad 2013 (64 bit win 7) when selecting a migrated wall style (wall style used in previous version of acad) it shows in properties that it is BASELINE, tho clearly on screen the grips show a left or right justification... THEN when switching the style of the all to something else, it will make the wall BASELINE justification.. which makes the wall move.

Oct 3, 2012I have just upgraded to 2013, and there is one "feature" I find kind of distracting. When working in a part, I create a new sketch. When I extrude that sketch, Inventor automatically switches me to an Iso view. I don't want that. I would prefer to stay in the view that I established.
Is there a way to turn that off?
