I was wondering if it is possible to have sum sort of text referance in the layout ofa drawing.
example.

Is it possible to at text in 1 layout and it show up in all the other layouts automatically?
Is it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.
We have a problem with AutoCAD R2011. The drafter made a rectangle, put some M Text in it, and when he looked at the layout the text does not show up. It's on a visible layer, and when he takes some existing text and sticks it in the rectangle, it works fine. We are just using "MatchProp" to work around the problem. Is there a way to "globally" set the text properties of the drawing to those of a particular instance of text?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I insert a block that is made up of different layer lines and shapes then they only show up in the model tab. The other layouts I have won't show the blocks even though the same layers are turned on and unfrozen in these other layout viewports just like the model space. It's looking like trying to use multilayer dynamic blocks will be pretty useless unless they work in every layout viewport and not just in model space.

How to get only part of the drawing to show up to print. I've drawn a floor plan and have copied it several times. I have also drawn several patterns that represent a few different floor tile layouts and then put them over each floor plan and after some trimming I have a variety of options that someone can choose from for floor tile layout. I'd like to show each one on a separate sheet and of course when I go to layout the whole drawing comes over and how to only show one floor plan at a time.

I'm having an issue on my full scale detail sections for a set of entry doors. I used layoutwizard to create my layout and I'm adding text (dtext) and leaders and it all looks good on my screen. When I print it out the text is rotated 90 degrees. I imagine it's any easy fix but I sure can't find it.
I thought I should add- when I look at 'print preview' the text is rotated. When I go back to the layout the text looks correct. I tried unchecking the "match text orientation to layout" and checking it again and it didn't work. Seems like this might be a glitch of some sort?
update: If the text is in model space it prints properly. Only the text in paper space shows up rotated.

In Object viewer it shows clearly the rock material on the surface.

Issue: Imbeded text in Linetype is automatically orienting the top of the text toward the center of the arc. I have tried to "reverse polyline" to fix this, but the text will not change. Is there a line property that I am missing that will allow the text to orient itself as readable from arc Point of begining to the end?

How to have success using the modify sub-elements tool for Roofs? The Wiki help shows rectangles and squares, not every roof has that shape.
I would like to know how, if possible to make the attributes of a block show up as text. Example:
I am working on a power utility design where each power pole has a sequential name and may or may not have units that need to be added into a contract. I have my attributes set up where I can go in and assign a required number to a unit so I can export my data into excel. The problem I am having is that I have to enter the text and change the attribute quantities separately. Also, there are 40 or so different units and only a few certain ones required at each pole. Is there a way to set the attribute only to display text if the quantity is greater than zero so my list is not 40 units long at each pole?
(I am using Autocad 2013, 64 bit)
Is there a way to automatically condense text in a one line text box, I have linked text boxes vertically and want to paste a list of names into them, and if a name is too long I want it to condense to the text box.
I know how to do this in print merge with the envelope tool but not in a text box.
