I manage a website and I have to resize bundles of images frequently. I find it a problem in Paint Shop Pro X5 that every time I resize an image it shows as a tiny thumbnail. This causes me to go to the 'view' toolbar and then from the dropdown box have to click 'zoom to 100%'
How do I format PSP X5 to automatically show resized images at 100%?
I'm still using PSP X3. What format more knowledgeable people for me use for editing images.
In the past, I'd take the jpeg produced by my camera, convert it to PSP format, and then when finally finished, save it as jpeg again.
I understand that the PSP format is no longer used, so should I just work in jpeg format? My understanding is that any intermediate saving would compromise image quality; if not jpeg, then what?
I have been using paint.net for a couple of years to resize photos for work purposes with no problems. All of a sudden two days ago the photos I resized or cropped started saving as oil paintings. I didn't click on the oil painting effect and I haven't changed anything that I am aware of. I've been going through everything I can think of and even uninstalled and reinstalled the program trying to get rid of this weird default change. I can't figure out how to change it back to normal.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a print document and do not understand the behavior of Designer Pro X9 concerning image optimizing. When I drag an image from explorer onto my document, I'm being prompted (as expected) to decide, whether I want to import the original size image or a resized version. Choosing the high resolution version gives me the full size bitmap to work with on my page.
But as soon as I drag the same image from the bitmap gallery onto my page, I get a downsized version of 1920 x 1280 pixels, which also immediately appears as a copy in the bitmap gallery. Why this happens and if and where I can prevent X9 from doing this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHave been running the trial version of Lightroom 3.6 for the past three weeks. I see that it cannot handle or display PNG format, of which I have over 11,000 images. PNG is my primary WORKING format for single layer images due to its lossless compression, support for EXIF data, and transparency later. Lightroom creates tens of thousands of tiny folders and catalog files that are difficult to defragment and greatly complicate my routine backups. I must comment that Adobe filters, especially Noise Reduction are really great but the lack of PNG support is a show stopper.
Also ran Lightroom Synchronize to add recent photos to the Canon folder and for some reason it changed the date stamp on over 3 GB of photos to the present day. When I went about a routine backup of the photos, the backup software wanted to completely overwright all the files with TODAYS date on the MyBook drive!! What? no way. So now I must RESTORE all these files BACK to the original date stamps. This is way over the top. Plus Lightroom is very slow to complete the Sync task, and might even take two passes.
I have lots of picture tubes from an old version of PSP. I now have PSP X5. What is the correct format for the pictures? I have both psp and tub.

In PSP8 I opened my target, 1615 x 1066 px:
Then, following the instructions, I opened this circular mask, 450 x 450 px:
But after completing the procedure my result looks like this, with an elliptical 'see through' area instead of a circle:
If this is by design, how would I get the circular effect I want? There are simpler ways of doing it for an all black/white mask.
In older versions of PSP, auto-save would automatically save a copy of the work in progress every X minutes (depending on what was set by the user) and overwriting the previous version, including the original if not working on a copy of it.
In PSPX4, auto-preserve added the functionality of saving a copy of the original to avoid overwriting it, but it also has autosave setting.
Questions :
- what does the autosave do except save the image when changing from Edit to Manage to Adjust?
- does autosave automatically save a copy (even if overwriting) of the work in progress?
- if so, where do we set how frequently a save should be?
Recently I've started getting this error when I try to use the Organizer in version X2. Then PSP freezes. I am not being able to use the Organizer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI get the idea to save my processed RAW files in jp2 jpeg 2000 16 bit format(channel) so they need less space as RAW or tiff and can be later good modify without noticable quality loss. But i get the requester, that the format support only 24 bit ( 8 bit/channel)
jpeg 2000 is here since 10 years. Is it not possible that windows or other programs can read 16 bit /channel files, or whats the reason wy it is not possible in PSP X4 upd 1 to store such files ?
Does other programs too not support 16 bit /channel jpg ?
I created a work in PSP using raster + vector. The image is configured to A3 paper dimensions.
I want to send it to be printed in an external store. With CorelDraw, it is just sending the CDR file (with vector in curves) and the file by itself shows A3 paper dimensions when opened. So, the guy who will print just make the job, without any question!
It seems to me that files like PNG or JPG can’t be handled as CDR file by the person who will receive the file. So, what should be the better PaintShop file format to send to external store to be printed in the way I mentioned?
I can't see a way to search for this issue that seems faster then looking manually. X4 will open X3 jpg's, but not X3 TIF's. X4 will open the older PSP files, but X3 TIF's show up as black rectangles in X4 workspace and won't open. I've uninstalled X3 already, but do not consider re-installing it as a solution. Previous versions of PSP have been backward compatible for me. If I open a RAW file, edit it and save as a TIF, it will open.

(this is my workaround)
however since i add images , I sometime forget to add those image names to the batch file, and they do not load.
so is there a way to add to paint.net the option to automatically load upon start the " last open images"
ie. the last images that were open before the program exited ?
I had to re download PDN a little while back, when i did, i made it my default image viewer. as soon as i set this, now every time i download an image, it automatically opens PDN, slowing down my download time, and just generally difficult. How to turn this off?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI purchased and installed version PSPX4 in Jan. 2012, and started noticing, what appears to be, a duplicate copy of the same file with an Asian type file format in the Recent Doc folder. When I attempt to do a weekly scan of my system for spyware, malware, etc. and weekly clean up of my registry, temp files and other files taking up space, one of my programs finds files listed in the registry under the Recent Doc folder that it cannot clean as the format is not recognized. Even though the properties of the file link the file back to the folder the .jpg file is stored in, there really isn't a file with that format. This is just a reference, and very annoying.

I use a non-PSP screencap program to grab pics and save them in the PNG format. But when I open them in PSP the Image Dimensions are in metric (milimeters, ppcm) instead of US Standard (inches, ppi).
I haven't been able to find a solution in PSP's General Program or File Format Preferences.
Here's the scenario:
1. PsPx5 is open
2. I insert my SD card into the computer
3. Import pix via Windows into a new folder in the My Pictures folder
4. Look in the Navigation palette, but the new folder is not listed.
5. Closing & reopening Navigation palette does not refresh it
6. I need to close down PsPx5 and reopen in order to see the new folder listed in Navigation
Is there a way for the new folder to show up in Navigation without having to close & reopen PsPx5?
Is there a resize script?We normally get images that has to be resized also based on conditions.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI found out that there is a way to show clipping areas in Photoshop when adjusting levels via an adjustment layer. While moving the slider, you hold down the ALT key.
I tried this in PSP X3 and it does not work. Any feature for seeing the clipping preview is available in Paint Shop Pro? It's a nice feature.

I have a bunch of images which need to be resized - all to 300x195 px at 300 dpi in .jpeg formatAll the images are of different sizes in their original form.While resizing, there should be no distortion. The scaling needs to be in proportion.While saving the resized, all the images should be saved using the same naming convention. Here's how I am doing it...
1. New Blank document - 300x195px, 300dpi & RGB mode.
2. Drag all the images into the blank document, and middle-align each layer.
3. Resize each layer individually while holding Shift+Alt to do it proportionately.
4. Save each layer seperately as a .jpeg using the naming convention required.
I'm doing some work in photoshop, well, more like fooling around with Photoshop. But when I'm all done with a picture, save it as Jpg and upload the image, its about 25%-50% smaller then what the original psd is ....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Photoshop for my Photography for quite a long time and I have recently upgraded to Photoshop CS6. Whenever I resize my images in CS6, I get the feel (from looking at the images) that the application has autosharpened my images! I am quite sure about that effect because my resizing principles have remained the same since using CS5. And in CS5, whenever I resized to that same size I am resizing in CS6, I used to run the Unsharp Mask Filter to get my images look at their best! So there must be something going under the hood in CS6, or am I missing something obvious? Basically, I want to be in total control as to how much sharpness I want to apply to my resized images!
