PSPX4's change to target tool has never worked right for me. I have X2 which does work right. In PSPX4 no matter what the setting it applies way too much color. Even at 1% opacity it is like about 80% in PSPX2 with all settings the same.
Latest updates installed. PSPX4 still does not like Adobe LR4 JPEGs when resaving them, although I now get an error message instead of a save that loses the file for good as some 4-8k sized file that can't be opened. I still have to use X2 for those two reasons.
In pre X4 releases, I could glance in the lower right of the program, hover my mouse over an image and it will tell me it's properites (color depth, size, etc...).
This really doesn't qualify as a tutorial, rather it's a reminder that various effects (including distortions) can be applied to masks to achieve interesting results.
Take this somewhat boring publicity photo, for example:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
1. Make an elliptical selection, re-position it as necessary, and feather it by 20px.
2. Create a mask from that selection:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
3. Apply Effects...Texture Effects...Polished Stone to the mask with these settings:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
4. Apply Effects...Distortion Effects...Ripple to the mask with these settings:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
The final image:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
The combination of the polished stone and ripple effects works nicely here, since the final effect is similar to the loose strands of her hair style.
I used the KPT Collection's KPT Noize effect to create a nebulous background and added a yellow-to-blue gradient layer above it (set to "Multiply" mode); and a bevel layer style to the text, reducing the kerning after the capital J's to -50. I also applied the Smart Photo Fix to the original photo, reducing the brightness slightly.
I re-installed PSP X5 on new computer and no longer have masks from previous versions of PSP. Is there a source where I can download these legacy files?
I have PSPro X.Often when I capture an image, figures show which I presume is the image size measurements. What can I do to avoid these figures being seen in the screen capture target area.
I have a psd file with several layers that includes a mask (filled in red) which is what I want to use as the shape of the image. Every tutorial has a different way of creating a mask but I can't figure out how to do it when the mask is a layer within an existing file. There's no option to save the mask to disk so I can load it into a new raster image to merge it with the image.
I created a image (with blank background) with dimensions 640 x 480 (its my default working image).
I have copied photograph with dimensions 7300 x 4200 and pasted as new layer on the image (640 x 480). Obviously, the pasted photograph is bigger and it couldn't be showed totally. I am adjusting the size of the photograph manually, dragging and dropping its corner lots of time.
I tried to use "image => resize" / "image => canvas size". But it just act on my default image (640 x 480), not the photograph (even when its layer is selected).
So, is there any way of resize the photograph automatically to fit in the default image (640 x 480)?
I'm currently in the process of organizing my music collection with album art. I found a great site with high quality images[URL] .... and would like to resize pictures to 600x600 within the range of 200-300KB. Is there a way to automatically do this without changing the quality percentage by trial and error?
I manage a website and I have to resize bundles of images frequently. I find it a problem in Paint Shop Pro X5 that every time I resize an image it shows as a tiny thumbnail. This causes me to go to the 'view' toolbar and then from the dropdown box have to click 'zoom to 100%'
How do I format PSP X5 to automatically show resized images at 100%?
In older versions of PSP, auto-save would automatically save a copy of the work in progress every X minutes (depending on what was set by the user) and overwriting the previous version, including the original if not working on a copy of it.
In PSPX4, auto-preserve added the functionality of saving a copy of the original to avoid overwriting it, but it also has autosave setting.
Questions :
- what does the autosave do except save the image when changing from Edit to Manage to Adjust?
- does autosave automatically save a copy (even if overwriting) of the work in progress?
- if so, where do we set how frequently a save should be?
I regularly work on large Photoshop files with many layers and folders within folders and always have the problem moving a folder only to find that somewhere inside there was a layer with an unlinked mask and it gets left behind. Is there a way i can 'relink all layer masks' without having to manually go through and relink them all? Similar to the 'Close all folders' option i guess...
I've been using PSP for a long time now (fisrtly PSP7 and now PSP9) and I wanted to buy the new version PSPX4. I downloaded the free-trial version and I saw that it is impossible to generate files bigger than 10'000x10'000 pixels. In the canvas size menu, it's impossible to give a higher number. The problem is that a made bigger files with PSP9 and I'd like to keep on working on it without resizing them.
So my question is : Is it only a limitation of the trial version or is it simply impossible to work with bigger images than 10k x 10k ? I hope there is a simple solution because PSP9 encounters some problems with Win7...
My ai doc has a stretched font and when i subsequently added indepented words/phrases in different locations, they are all stretched as well. I only wanted the one stretch, so I will have to go in manually and will never get them exact, or just start fresh, so I wondered if there is a way to restore them to their original properties. Also is there a way to avoid what I did? It also stays in "stretch mode" when I typed in a different font, which is how I noticed because the o's are supposed to be almost a perfect circle and they were ovals, so it was obvious, although the first font wasn't to me.
I have used PSP since version 2, so have been at it for awhile. Just upgraded to 6, as I was using version 4.
The problem I have is when I am in the edit area, and have a photo on the screen I use my mouse wheel to enlarge or shrink depending on my needs. The old version the windows box around image would also resize with image. I have attached a few images. I normal could fix this in the settings, but for some reason the window will not follow the image size as I enlarge or shrink? It does when I actually resize image, but I need this to do that when I am just using mouse wheel to make bigger or smaller on my screen.
I can not use my HP scanner. It looks like the image size is wrong and should be reduced to less than 49999 pixels high x 4999 pixels wide. Where could I change the image size in X4. Using Windows 7 Pro.
I'm new to this, but have noticed that whenever I choose the "save as" command for an open photo file, the saved file is much smaller. Even when, for example, I name a picture and make no other changes, the file size goes from say 2.4MB to 640 or so. And these are jpeg to jpeg saves. I have to think this diminishes resolution and options for future edits. Is there a way change some save settings or something?
When I save a picture it goes from 6mb to 700kb. Is this normal or do I need to do something different and does it effect the picture quality when printing?
Tips on reducing my JPG images in PSP X4 without loosing too much quality. I know that it isn't possible to not lose some picture quality but if you have any pointers that would be fantastic.
I have PaintShop Pro X3 and pretty much all the other programs. I scanned lots of photos (6*4) at a 300 dpi which works out at about 11 meg each photo (i think this was overkill!). However, when i created a slideshow these photos are shown as about one quarter sized. Is there any way i can correct this ? Should i for the future scan at a different dpi ? I want to view the images as a slideshow and am not interested in printing them.
PSPRo X.I have lost the ability to increase the size of the clone brush either by the presets or by the mouse and keyboard. It will not show by more than about one eighth of an inch square .
My Canon 7D typically produces a JPG file in the 5B to 12MB range if set to the largest JPG quality. My problem is that if I open for example a 7MB file in Photo Pro X3 and save it again (even if I make no changes) the resulting file is about 2MB. Obviously some compression is happening which I want to avoid/control. Is it possible to set the default compression that X3 uses?
If I use file - export - JPG optimizer I can control things but if I for example want to do a batch process on lots of files. I have used Paint shop Pro since version 5 and love it but I might have to change to another editor if I cannot solve this one.
When I try to import from a twain bron. Canoscan lide 210 says the picture is 10x15 cm = about 4x6 inch. Looks alright. But after import the size of the picture in PSP x4 and X5 is 4x6 centimeters. So somewhere it's going wrong.
In previous versions through customize options there was the option to tick for large icons. It has been left out of X4 or is it there and I can't find it. That option was very good for big screens. Do they intend to bring it back in the update along with the colored icons.
can a watermark stay the same size even when an image size is altered? say if its text and it gets too big when i enlarge the image how do i shrink the watermark ? when it is already merged and flattened as one picture without a separate layer.
such as a php or java script to keep the watermark distinct in a way even in a flattened pic or to select the watermark to erase it and re-apply it in the right font size back onto the resized pic?
I have been using paint.net for a couple of years to resize photos for work purposes with no problems. All of a sudden two days ago the photos I resized or cropped started saving as oil paintings. I didn't click on the oil painting effect and I haven't changed anything that I am aware of. I've been going through everything I can think of and even uninstalled and reinstalled the program trying to get rid of this weird default change. I can't figure out how to change it back to normal.
I need to automatically rezize a photoshop document by using an action. Sounds pretty simple, yes. But the thing is that the flow needs to grab the individual/specific size from ANOTHER open document (different from time to time) to be used as the target size.... I need to make the grab the target size from a variable, so to speak.
I've tried to use the crop-tool to grab size and then use select all + crop on the other document, but no. Plus loads of workarounds.
It has to be a full auto function to be run from a droplet.
This is what it will be used for:
A faksimil scan from a newspaper page needs to get a broken side like it had been ripped out by hand. A shadow on the ripped edge as usual. Easy to do by hand. But the action flow will use a "template"document holding a pre-made layermask built with the right edgelook. The Action will rezize this to fit the original faksimil dokument and apply the ripped edge+ shadow on the faksimil document in one go. By loading the selection from the layermask over to the faksimil.
