Lightroom :: Import Doesn't Work - All Thumbnails Won't Show Up
Nov 9, 2013I am trying to import pictures into Lightroom 5.2 and I am not able to. When I open the import window I don't get any thumbnails (pic below), but when i click on the images, I can see them fine. After I choose the file location and press import, it hangs up and never finishes. The picture of the Copy and Import Photos is attached too.

Nov 7, 2011I open up either PSPX4 or PSPPX3 and the RAW photos start streaming in looking absolutely beautiful... and then one by one they darken-up and and bland out. This does not happen with my JPEG's. I can then edit them in the Adjust and Edit tabs to lighten them up. Makes me wonder if my codecs are messed up... however a complete reinstall of Win 7 64 bit has changed nothing.

Paint Shop Pro :: X4 Not Processing All Thumbnails
Jul 25, 2012When I attempt to use the organizer only a few of the files in the folder display a thumbnail in the tray. Most of them show a gray placeholder with an X in the center. If I wait a very long time (several hours), it occasionally will finish updating all of the photos in the folder but not every time. If I exit PSP it seems to close OK but it is still chewing up CPU cycles (17%) and I have to shut down the process in Task Manager if I want to try and re-open the program.
I thought it was just the RAW NEF files from my Nikon D7000 but when I go back a few years and look at the images from my D40 it hangs as well.
I've tried a re-installation but that did not change anything, it still hangs after displaying a few thumbnails.

Dec 4, 2012Win XP computer.
Previously ran PSP 9 and PSP X1. All was FINE with thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
Purchased and installed PSP X5
It seem to be doing some hatchet job on pspimage files that I've had stored for several YEARS on this computer. These are files I have NOT opened in X5.
They are showing up as icons for PSP X5 although they were created with earlier versions of the program.
I NEVER authorized any type of conversion. Why would I?
And how do I get the view back without having to install any other program since the view was FINE before installing X5?

Nov 15, 2011When I create images for my web sites in X4, upload them into Expression Web, insert them into the page and use the thumbnail tool, the thumbnails appear badly pixelated, as though they were posterized. This did not happen when using PSP8. I save my images for the web as 72 DPI, uncompressed JPEGs. There must be something different about the images output from X4 and those output from PSP8. Image info doesn't show anything suspect.

Dec 27, 2013I installed PSP X6 Ulitimate and when I first pulled it up I saw Instant Effects Thumbnails under the Adjust Tab. I experimented with a few then had to get off. When I reopened the program all the thumbnails were gone. No matter what I do I can't get the Instant Effects to show up in any of the tabs. Sometimes I'll scroll the mouse over the area, click it, and the photo will have one of the instant effects applied, e.g. black and white. That doesn't do me any good because I can't see what is being applied before clicking if the thumbnails aren't showing. how to get the instant effects to show back up?

Aug 14, 2013why custom made nibs thunbnails show as black dots in PhotoPaintx6? Also when I select one of them...it just sprays a dot instead of my image? I saw where others are having the same problem. Some are and some aren't. As long as I leave the custom made nibs loaded they display and spray correctly. If I load the default nibs or any other nibs then go back and load the custom nibs..that's when I get the black dots. I've remade my nibs several times thinking I did something wrong but that's not the problem.

Photoshop :: Oil Paint Filter - Image Doesn't Show Up
Sep 4, 2013I'm running CS6 on Windows7, Intel HD Graphics P4000 with driver updated. I have used the oil paint filter successfully in the past. Now when I try to use it, the filter window comes up, and it notes that the image I want to work on is at 25% size, but it remains blank -- the image itself never shows.

Paint Shop Pro :: Color Balance Doesn't Work X4?
Dec 3, 2011I am trying to use Color Balance and the window doesn't work. The only part that shows is the "Enhance Color Balance" box, the words "purple" and "green" just above, and the preview arrow (which does nothing) and "preview on image". Preview on image is checked and it does show changes but I am unable to uncheck it. Nothing else shows. Nothing I have tried has worked, including restarting the computer.

Jan 22, 2013I'm running PaintShop Pro X5 15.1.0.10 on Windows 8 (64-bit). I just tried to create a drop shadow, possibly for the first time since I upgraded from X4, and it just doesn't work. I mean nothing happens.
I added a white border, as usual, and then tried to create my drop shadow. I tried it with the default settings, and I tried it with some random settings. As I said, nothing whatsoever happened.
Inner bevel and buttonize work just fine. (I haven't tried cutout.) Chisel also doesn't seem to work; in fact, it seems to come and go. It's the same with outer bevel: it isn't always available.
I'm not a novice when it comes to PaintShop Pro. I've been using it since it was shareware. I've certainly done drop shadows many times.
I'm completely baffled. Other than uninstalling and re-installing, I can't think what to do.

Mar 28, 2012I use a non-PSP screencap program to grab pics and save them in the PNG format. But when I open them in PSP the Image Dimensions are in metric (milimeters, ppcm) instead of US Standard (inches, ppi).

Paint Shop Pro :: Photo Project Creator Doesn't' Work
May 14, 2010After looking at reviews, I took the big step and bought the download version of Photo Pro X3, which got me a 2nd download file called Photo Essentials 4. Installed X3 first, then PE4. I've installed, uninstalled, reinstalled 'till I'm blue in the face. X3 looks like a good product, at least with the little I've done so far. But . . .
When I start Photo Essentials, which opens as Photo Project Creator, I get nowhere. Step one: selecting what you want to create works fine. However, on the screen where photo selection should be made, I only get the Desktop and My Computer icons, and My computer won't expand.
After 2 days of frustration, I decided to install ONLY Photo Essentials 4 on my wife's PC to see what happened. It opened with a screen that said Photo Essentials 4 at the top, and something that would allow me to paint over the top of a picture. Doesn't even resemble what opens on my PC.
Both PC's are running Windows XP Media Ed. I've noticed apparently similar problem with Windows 7, but is this really just the norm? I tried the cure I found elsewhere in this forum, by shutting down certain processes, and deleting everything within Digital Studio, but it didn't change anything.

It does work with Chrome, and I suspect other browsers as well (haven't the time to try them all).

1. PsPx5 is open
2. I insert my SD card into the computer
3. Import pix via Windows into a new folder in the My Pictures folder
4. Look in the Navigation palette, but the new folder is not listed.
5. Closing & reopening Navigation palette does not refresh it
6. I need to close down PsPx5 and reopen in order to see the new folder listed in Navigation
Is there a way for the new folder to show up in Navigation without having to close & reopen PsPx5?

Dec 3, 2013I have been doing some very simple editing of photo's taking a copy from part of one and pasting it as a new layer on another photo. I can then manipulate the size, placement and orientation easily with my X4 version of PSP.
I just purchased the new x6 and am ASTONISHED that this simple exercise doesn't work at all in the 64 bit version and only partially in the 32bit version of x6. What happens is that the screen isn't redrawing the changes as you move the pasted part around. It can be refreshed manually but gets into such a mess when you are trying to place the image that it's unusable. I go back to X4 and using exact same photo's I can work without any problem.
I'm on win7 ultimate all upto date and an 8800 GTS graphics card with latest drivers. There should be no reason x4 works and x6 does not.

Dec 17, 2011I found out that there is a way to show clipping areas in Photoshop when adjusting levels via an adjustment layer. While moving the slider, you hold down the ALT key.
I tried this in PSP X3 and it does not work. Any feature for seeing the clipping preview is available in Paint Shop Pro? It's a nice feature.

Jan 2, 2013The videos are there, but I just get the hourglass picture. If I doubleclick them, they'll play just fine. But I have no way of quickly scanning thumbnails to pick a movie.
While we're on the subject of thumbnails, I can only see thumbnails for my pictures if I make them larger. If I try to make the thumbnails smaller, they just won't ever show up. I have about 1800 video clips (very few longer than 1 minute), and about 10,000 pictures.
Lightroom :: DNG Files Created With LR4 Do Not Show Thumbnails
Jun 2, 2012When using LR3 to create DNG files from my RAW files, those files would show me thumbnails of my image in Windows Explorer. I am running Windows/7 (64) and have installed a CODEC from "Fast Picture Viewer" that allows thumbnails from RAW & DNG files to be shown. It seems, however, that the thumbnails do not show for DNG's created with LR4.
To Remedy this I uninstalled the CODEC. Downloaded the most recent version and installed it but this did not fix the problem.
I then went to the user forum for the CODEC product and searched for my problem. I found a thread who's solution is to turn off "Embed Fast Load Data" when exporting to DNG and it fixes the problem. I tried this and indeed it did fix it. The responder went on to say ".....When this option is enabled the files created are no longer DNGs (just an undocumented private format of Adobe that no one else can read to this date)". This statement surprised me as it is counter to what I understand Adobe created DNG to be. Can I get some input on this comment as if true it is very troubling.
My second question is that I see where to turn off the "Embed Fast Load Data" in the LR Export module, but where do I do the same thing in the Import module when I'm selecting import mode "Copy to DNG"?
If indeed the DNG files created by LR4 are proper DNG files and this CODEC is just flawed in some way, any better way to allow image thumbnails to be shown in Windows Explorer?
Photoshop Elements :: Thumbnails / Some MOV Video Clips Won't Show Up
Oct 6, 2013I'm having some troubles viewing all my video thumbnails.
I have different kinds of video clips in my organizer, but it's only the MOV-files that won’t show. The funny thing is, that it’s only some of the MOV-files that doesn’t show up others do!
All the video clips are recorded with an iPhone, and imported to the catalog at the same time.Even though I can’t see the thumbnail, I can still playback the video clip.
I've already tried the following:
- Repairing the catalog
- Optimizing the catalog
- Restoring the preferences to default settings
- Renaming the "status.dat" and "psa.prf" files
My specifications:
- Installed Adobe software - Photoshop Elements 12 + Premiere Elements 12
- Catalog containing appx. 17.000 photos and 400 video clips
- Windows 7 64 bit
